Shortcoder issue with Generatepress theme and Staff List Pro

We were using this plugin to put javascript reviews in the Staff List Pro plugin. That in turn generates its own shortcode to create a profile for each staff member. It worked until recently. But now the shortcode just shows the shortcode instead of the review on the front end.

Initially, it seemed to work with other themes.

We enlisted Generatepress’s help and they have found that it does not in fact work with all of the default themes either. It only works with those that are Full Site Editing themes.

Do you have any idea why this is and how we can fix it?

(Staff List Pro itself has been ruled out as it has not updated recently.)

Hi @starhorsepax2,

Thanks for using Shortcoder.

When you see the shortcode as is, it means the shortcode is not executed.

Not only shortcoder it will happen to any shortcode you insert.

To execute the shortcode, the **content** (the text which contains the shortcode) must be passed through the do_shortcode wordpress function. Only then WordPress will execute the shortcode.

I’m not aware of the plugin you’ve mentioned and how it does an output. In the end, the output text must be passed to do_shortcode function.

Please see if you can figure it out yourself otherwise, share full details (with screenshots if possible) on what/where/how shortcode is created & inserted. I’ll try to help run the above function appropriately.

I can get you login if you tell me where to send the info privately. Right now everything else is off and I even tried rolling back to previous versions of theme, shortcoder and even the core.

Whatever change happened to break this functionality, was after October 25. That is the last date we put in a code and it was working.

It looks like you are pasting the shortcode in Staff List plugin in some profile field and not in a common WordPress template.

Can you please post a support topic on their forum below?

Their code base is huge for me to go through and pin point the change. Also, this is beyond shortcoders scope as any generic shortcode will not work.

Please raise a topic and they will point out how to execute shortcodes in the profile field.
