So it's has been a year since I last blog. I am not returning to the blogging phase anytime, ever since uni started because I find it really difficult to maintain, especially having to deal with the lab reports and group projects next coming semester. So I decided to just blog an entry and do a recap for 2012 just for records sake so that I can always come back to review back :)

So a few things that came into my mind that summarizes 2012:

1) My 3 Overseas Trips this year. Haha, this really made me broke. Didn't planned properly but I still managed to pay for all three trips myself. So proud of myself hahaha. I don't want to recall how much I spent. :X

Spent about 5 days in Hongkong, 7 days in Taiwan and 2 weeks in China. Hongkong and Taiwan are pretty much shopping trips but despite that, I still didn't buy as much as I thought I would. China is more of a sightseeing trip and it's a great experience knowing other friends from NUS as well. I guess it's more of the company and the 2 weeks of bonding that makes it fun. And it's nice that we still meetup after that. Jiu Zhai Gou is the by far the most beautiful place I visit in China. Despite the huge crowd, due to the peak tourism season, the beautiful nature really blew me off. :) There wasn't much to shop in China somehow. Although the stuff there should be cheaper.

Overall, all 3 trips were awesome lah. :)

2) The year I baptised! 3 months of classes before baptism and the moment when I baptised, I could still remember. It was like getting married. Haha. Anyway, thank God for his grace he has given me throughout this whole year. My grades, though not that great, managed to stay the same, despite the overloading of modules and the difficulty of modules. I'm just gonna work harder next semester and pull my grades up :)

3) Of course, not to forget SOW (Science Orientation Week), the whole big event was just memorable. Got to know alot of people and made close friends. The juniors, the seniors, the moments. Everything.

4) This is not a really a pointer. But I realised I have grown alot in thinking. Whenever I hangout with the scholars, it somehow set me thinking that I don't think that much or deeply, which sometimes leads to awkward moments with them because I can't really relate their conversation. But I really learnt alot from them. And since I was one of the youngest during the China Immersion Programme, it's great knowing people older than me. Haha. Seems like I like older people. :o Jkjk. I love everybody. Hahaha.

Okay, that's pretty much.

I should have a "What's my weight in 20__?"
So currently I weighed 45kg. Let's see how much I weigh next year. Lol. I'm just very concerned about my weight nowadays. Girls you know. I can't help it. Haha.

Goodbye 2012. And welcome 2013. We didn't die in 2012! :)

I'm still with my family, bf and friends. :) And I love all of them dearly :)

Hope it's not too late to do a recap for 2011. Been procrastinating loads of things and kept watching drama. :X

Top 10 points to summarize the year.

1. Got my A Levels results. Thank God for the good results :) I expect myself to get good results but I never really define it to myself what "good" results I really wanted. When I saw the results slip, I was grateful enough. :)

2. Worked as an Admin at a makeup artist place. Learnt many things when I attended the makeup workshop. Although the pay is not as good as compared to teaching tuition, at least I get to know some skills. :)

3. Teaching JC students in MJC. Was really glad when I received an email from one of the teachers in the school to teach the students and it really enhanced my portfolio especially when I go for teaching interviews. The teacher-in-charge was really great and I really learnt alot from him. :D

4. MOE Scholarship. It is really funny when I think of back then, when I entered the MOE Building and thought it was only a Teaching Award interview. But it turned out to be the more prestigious scholarship interview. And my interview only lasted 5-10 minutes while others were so much longer! And during the interview, I couldn't control my feelings that I shed a few tears when I was mentioning how my mum raised me and why she is my role model (because it is part of an essay I need to write in). I thought they wouldn't accept me because it was kind of screwed up. But I was wrong. It's really wonderful when I see how God has path the way for me all these years. :)

5. Making friends with MOE Scholars. It's really nice knowing the MOE scholars, when you have the same common goals. And they are always so enthu about meeting up. Most of them are christians as well, and I'm really fortunate because we always encourage each other in the love of God. :)

6. Entering University Life. I really regretted not going into the orientation camp because I believe it will strongly change the way you spend your life in uni with your new friends. Thank God at least I know some MOE teachers-to-be (we don't like to be termed scholars actually. haha.) who are super knowledgeable with all the stuff that I seriously can't deal with. And I made some uni friends through my jc/sec school friends. Given another chance, I would definitely want to join the orientation camp. It makes a big difference.

7. Staying in Hostel. I have been a very pampered girl to be honest. Staying in hostel gives me the independence. But it really harms my body because I always eat maggi mee whenever I am lazy to get food even though the canteen is right downstairs. Can't help it because the canteen food is too sucky. ;X Anyway, it's a good experience staying in hostel and is a great convenience since I can wake up later in school. :D And loads of freedom! But sometimes it gets abit lonely and I miss my mum's food. :(

8. Officially introducing my boyfriend to my parents. Been telling my parents about him and finally I brought him to my house for dinner on CNY eve. My parents didn't exactly accept him due to some religious issues and it has been a great challenge for me because religion is a sensitive issue. Okay, shall not talk too much about this point.

9. Going for Sabah trip with TSCC & Performance at Marina Square. I really enjoyed the trip to Sabah and our youth choir has gained loads of experience. It is really amazing to see how much we have grown together as we go around to perform and using the music to praise the Lord.

10. Lastly, of course it's all the fun outings with the youth, Friends (A), university friends, Valen and honeybun! LOVE YOU GUYS. :D

My life is not exactly interesting. Honestly, I wish it is interesting and I envy alot of my friends who are able to travel to visit so beautiful places. Talk about Bangkok, Taiwan, Bali, Japan, Korea, USA, Europe. It has always been my wish to travel to many places. My family may not financially well off, but I thank God for everything he gave me. There will be many chances to travel out there in the future, and my goal for 2012 is to travel to somewhere during the 3 months holiday because I so love travelling. :D Oh, and to shed weight. :X

That's all for the wordy post! :)

Lol, it's really funny that sometimes I have to remind myself I am a university student now who will be a teacher in the future. Kind of find it hard to believe sometimes because I still feel so immature. :X Anyway, thank God for the past 1 year :D And thank you for everyone's birthday wishes and the gifts! :D

Till then!

So university life is starting and I am taking these last few days to enjoy my freedom while I can! Have been going out most of the days, even though I never really made much plans ahead. Anyway, last week, I cabbed down to my hostel together with my stuff. Didn't take much stuff because I wasn't really prepared what else to bring. Thanks bun for accompanying. :)

Image So basically this is how my room looks like!
Spent quite some time tidying up. The room floor was so dirty!

Image Many asked why I need a sink.
Haha, but I think a sink helps me a lot.
Lazy to go to the common bathroom just to wash face!

Image This is my future snacks corner!
Gonna stock up some food soon.

Image And here's some random stuff that I brought along.
Going down on National Day again with my family, along with the remaining items.
Feels like I'm moving house. Lol.

Just last Friday, I attended the MOE Teaching Scholarship Presentation Ceremony. Reached there quite early but realised it's just a super short rehearsal. Then head for lunch together with the others at Mr. Curry. Bun, next time I bring you there eat. The food, especially desserts, is not bad and not expensive also! Okay so back to the topic. I invited my secondary school teacher but she had something on. ): After ceremony, took a photo with Ms Lai, my principal from MJC. Long time since I saw her. Ex-principal of TKSS also!

Image

Group photo with my group. :)
Haha, they are super funny.
We shouted "Oxford" and cheered like mad when it's a formal ceremony.
Opps :X

Image

Photo with Daddy who came. ;D
The minister was like.. "All the best Joanne" when I took the cert.
So I gave him my sweetest smile I had.
Okay, I exaggerated. :P

On Saturday, had usual chimes practice. Only 5-6 people came. :X So fail. But after that Youth Fellowship more people came. We discussed about our church camp dates which falls on 26-27 August. I really hope the star gazing night for my module wouldn't fall on that day! If you are wondering what module I am taking, I took "Understanding The Universe", something about astronomy. Sounds interesting! :D

Image

After YF, we tabao our dinner to the sky garden!
And had some dance plus camwhore session. Lol.

Image

Photospam from Ah Peng's Macbook!

Image

Lol. Look at our eyes! Scary :P

Image

A pic with Jasmine Tay on Sunday! :D

Watched Captain America and Rise of the Planet of Apes the last 2 weeks. Captain America is nice! Can't wait for Avengers to be out. :) But it's next year May 2012 I think. So long.. Zzz. Whereas the apes movie is quite.. hmm.. interesting? So-so movie. Anyway, I almost got a iPad 2 from the Golden Village Lucky Draw. So saddddddddddddddd.

OMG. Just received an sms from my primary school teacher. She saw me during the teaching presentation ceremony and was finding me. :X She has a card and present for me also. So guilty! Didn't know she was there if not I would definitely go find her. Aiks! Going down to Bedok West tomorrow to meet her with bestie. Long time since I went back my primary school. Memories..

Okay. I took damn long to blog this post. Shall stop here. Ciao!

Food hunt around Singapore with the other scholars! :) Really nice bunch of people to organise this. I don't think I ever did a food hunt before. Bun says it's lame but wtheck, I think it's great. How can I say no to good food. Of course, it would be a plus point if you have a car to drive around. Despite us without car, we still managed to navigate easily. We just sat train and walked. No bus rides needed!

Image Our first stop was porridge @ Chinatown!
The frog leg porridge cost $16!
The raw fish tasted totally awesome! First time trying it.
It's called Tiong Shian Porridge, near CK Department Store. :)

Image Then we head for dessert which is just a few alleys away.
The name of the shop is 味香园甜品店.

Image Their speciality is their ice kachang!
The shaved ice tasted like ice-cream. Damn awesome. Must try!

Image 7 of us finished off everything in a blink of eye!

Image Then we headed to Farrer Park and walked over to Berseh FC.
To our horror, it's closed for renovation!
Kenji wanted to bring us to eat pork jelly (whatever that is. lol.)

Image So we moved on and ate Scissors Cut Curry Rice instead.
Definitely a must-try if you haven't eat before.
There's another one at Bugis and 313 Somerset Food Court. :)

Image This is the Beach Road Branch.

Image This plate cost about $5. A few mouths from everyone and it's done.

Image Trained to Dakota next!
The guys. :)

Image Tua Huay!
We wanted to eat the famous stall but it wasn't opened yet. Sad ):
But the alternative stall's tau huay taste quite okay too.
The Lor Mee and Hokkien Mee stalls yet to open yet too. Bleh.

I left off after that and the rest continued their food hunt to Blk 85! I super miss the Ba Chor Mee, Stingray, Porridge, Western Food, Chicken Wings, etc there! Staying in the east is good. ku88Because there's so many good food! Like at Simpang Bedok and Katong area are other food paradise in the east!

As for today, I went to visit Grandma. She always sleep when I visit her. :X Then head off to City Hall and Bedok to get some hostel essentials. Mum bought food from Marks & Spencer! I bought myself formal wear from G2000. Super cheap! They are having sales now. Kind of regret a little for buying at Bugis. I bought a blazer at $43 and formal skirt at $25 at Bugis. Maybe I won't find such cheap blazer elsewhere other than blogshops. But at least I tried on at least 5 different type of blazers to choose what design I really want. And walked around the whole Bugis street before settling down on the skirt. I'm such a cheapo. Haha.

Bought lingerie also. LOL. (Okay, I don't think I need to announce this.) Anyway, I finally buy my comforter! Woots. It's so difficult to find because they don't sell comforter nowadays. And it's very expensive at Metro, BHG, Isetan those kind of stores.

Okay. I think I said enough. I wanna go watch Ah Di. Ciao!

Long time no blog! Random photos from my phone. :)

Image Did manicure last week.
Pink is my favourite colour for nails!

Image Had Spa Pedicure as well.
It was a deal voucher which I bought long ago and it's going to expire soon.
Kind of regret buying it because mani/pedi became out of my interest suddenly.

Image After which, watched Harry Potter. Movie was so-so only because I expected more.
Then had dinner at Waraku. Bill came in only at $10 because we had $20 voucher.
The roast duck super nice. :) But my favourite is still pasta. Hehe.

Image My favourite outfit for the week. :)
Wore my sister's free-size shirt and a grey skirt from Forever 21.

Image Ben driving us for lunch on Saturday!
Lunch was at Serangoon Gardens at Pow Sing (the cheaper version). :)

ImageThen, in the afternoon, we had a basketball match with the young adults at SIA Training Centre.

Image Hehe, I'm a slacker just watching them play.
I'm old already. Tired after playing awhile.

Image Watching basketball match is quite interesting while I sit there and shout.

Image Look how we depict the young adults as!
We're young and active while they're old and slow. Haha.

Image And yes, we're on the winning side! :D
Didn't take picture of the final score.

After the match, we played within ourselves. Had a mini frisbee game too. Some showered and we head to Changi Airport for dinner. :) Was so tired when I reached home but still managed to facebook.

Okay. I'm done with my random blog post. Need to get ready for work now!

Hello! You're stepping on Joanne's blog! :D I am 19 this year and my birthday lands on 29091992. Pretty nice numbers to remember eh? I am currently studying in NUS Science. And, if you want to look out for me, I don't think it's that easy because I am only 154cm short. ;P Oh, and did I mention that I love the date 04/09?
