Thanksgiving 2018

For Thanksgiving, Grandpa and Grandma Bundy came out to visit, as well as Aunt Hannah and Uncle Robert. The kids were so excited and loved having all these adults to give them more attention. Grandparents and Rob arrived on Monday the 19th. The worst is waiting for guests to arrive all day!

On Tuesday, all of the girls drove up to OKC to pick up Hannah from the airport. We went to the OKC bombing memorial, the Boy Scout shop, and the Botanical Gardens before heading back to Ada.

Fall Break

We split up for fall break this year...Dale and Kimball went camping/canoeing on the Current River in Missouri, and the rest of us stayed home. We decorated pumpkins at the library on Wednesday, then Thursday started early with Dale and Kimball packing to leave, and Lily had a dentist appointment at 8:00 am. The dentist went well and we headed home. Then Becca came down with a fever, and both girls had a cough, so we just stayed home that day.

September 2018

My days are a lot quieter with the 3 older kids in school, but they seem just as busy! September flew by...

August 2018

Whew! Between recovering from illness, school starting, and the fair, the rest of August seemed pretty peaceful...

Choctaw Free Fair

I've heard about the Choctaw Free Fair for a few years, so when the opportunity to go with some friends came up, I talked Dale into going. We left Friday afternoon (August 31) and drove to Tuskahoma. We parked and rode a tram in.

The boys wanted to ride a bull first...

First Day of School!

Summer came and went, and before I was quite ready, school started!
Image
Lily has been dying to go to school for as long as she knew it was in her future. We've been telling her for ages that once she's 4, it's almost time for school. Here, they do full day pre-K. We've transferred her into another district because we live closer to that school, so she started before the boys...on August 9th. We were so nervous about how she would do, but she LOVES school! Dale takes her to school in the mornings and from the first day, she did a little too well at drop off, forgetting to hug her daddy goodbye. Each Saturday she's cried because she misses school so much.

Kimball has been ready for school to start since about half way through summer. He's in 6th grade, which anywhere else would be middle school, but junior high is 7-9th grades here. He has chosen to play trumpet in band, and is trying out for the school basketball team. He has grand aspirations for track in the spring, and plans to do as many activities as possible.

Cameron started 4th grade. His teachers seem fantastic. We're hoping he gets into robotics club at the school. He is on a new bus route this year, so he actually gets home before 4:00 (last year he wouldn't get home until 4:20ish)!

Becca does not enjoy waking up to all the morning activity...she was sleeping until 8 or 9 during the summer. Most mornings she needs a morning nap now and will still (hopefully) take her afternoon nap. Errands are immensely easier with one kid, and one car seat to deal with.

It's still my favorite time of day when the kids get home and I get to hear about their adventures...as long as they're not super cranky when they get home. We're all a little sleep deprived and still trying to figure out the new normal schedule, but so far this school year is going well!

July 2018

July was a very anticipate month because we had so much happening! I got to take our boys to a farewell for some troops that were deploying, and just 2 days later celebrated the 4th of July. We had a fantastic get-together at the Marshall's, watched fireworks from the local swimming pool, and went home to set off some of our own fireworks.

Rexes head East!

This year, we were presented with the choice of going west for the annual Rex reunion, or joining Dale's Kearl cousins in Florida...after some deliberation, we chose Florida! Here's how our trip went:

The Seven Plagues of Oklahoma

Out of nowhere, we've been hit with an insane amount of sickness and we are ready for it to go!

Lily turns 4!

Lily has been anxiously anticipating this birthday for months, because she's finally 4 which means she can go to Pre-K! Here, they do full-day pre-K and she's SO excited!

Father's Day/Anniversary in Dallas

For Father's Day I've been planning to take Dale to an MLB baseball game for months. He's never been to one (and almost spoiled it by going to one on his trip to GA). I managed to totally surprise him with tickets to see the Texas Rangers play the White Sox on the 29th.

On the 29th, we left around 9 that morning so Dale could see a client in Sulphur. After his visit, we drove to our hotel in Dallas. We ate Costco pizza and had fun in the hotel pool. Then it was time to the ball park.

We got there in time to buy some souvenir baseballs and stood in line to get autographs from the players only to find out they weren't signing that night. The boys were so bummed.

April 2018

We're winding down with the school year and everyone's getting anxious for summer break! We can't wait for lazy morning where we can sleep in and Lily and Becca won't be woken up at 6 by Kimball getting ready for school (he's as quiet as possible, they just still wake up).

Kimball turns 11!

This year, Kimball turned 11...becoming even more of a pre-teen and showing more and more evidence of growing up.

Teacher Walk-Out

Image
Oklahoma is ranked 50th in the nation for teacher pay. Education funding has been cut year after year, and teachers haven't gotten a raise in a decade. It all came to a head at the beginning of April when the Oklahoma Educators Association called for a teacher walk-out starting on April 2nd if the legislature didn't meet their demands of pay raises and increased funding.

March 2018

March came in like a lion, and stayed that way the whole month. The boys had their district Pinewood Derby where Kimball got 4th and qualified for the regional race, and Cameron placed 6th (though he should have placed higher due to unfair racing practices...)...

Cameron turns 9!

Happy Birthday to our favorite 9 year old in the whole world! You are so full of joy and passion, and you certainly keep us on our toes.

Spring Break

We stayed fairly local for spring break this year but had some fun adventures.

Spring break started on Friday the 16th. Dale had a deposition in Irving, TX so we all drove down together. While he was deposing someone, we went to Victoria Park and the kids had a blast.

Beautiful little girl, you made it through your first year...we made it! The Hungry Caterpillar seemed a very fitting theme for your birthday, and you loved the cake.

January 2018

We made it home from our trip to Albuquerque with an hour and a half to spare to celebrate New Years. As we unloaded the car, we listened to the news anchors talk about New Years. The girls were already passed out (and maybe Cameron), but as the clock struck midnight, we made lots of noise and toasted with some sparkling apple cider.

This month was pretty low-key...

Little girl, you've almost made it through your first year of life! Plus, you managed to do so as the youngest of our crazy crew.

December 2017

Oh December, you came and went, leaving us dizzy with holiday excitement!

Albuquerque

The day after Christmas, we left for Albuquerque. The kids were super excited to see Grandma and Grandpa. We were mostly nervous about a long drive with Becca (she was miserable on our last trip!), but everyone did great. Lily loved sitting by Cameron and teasing him :)

Christmas 2017

 Image
We spent Christmas at home. The boys got out of school on the 19th, so we had several days of Christmas break to get through before we could celebrate, and it was just shy of torture for the boys...Kimball said he wished he could have been in school longer to make the time pass faster.
