...Well, kinda like front page. The front page of the Boise State Engineering Website at least. A couple of my cousins were online a few days ago and noticed that our family were on the front page. Apparently, the school had uploaded a few pics from the Engineering festivities. You can find the picture below. I really like the pose Aunna has.
Happy Valentine's Day Everybody!!

Play nice
This afternoon we had a pretty good time at a local event. The University was having an annual science and engineering event for the general public. The basic Idea was to help show kids and teens some fun things about science and help raise their interest. It really is a pretty cool thing and I'm pretty sure it has helped at least get a few kids to think about science more. Anyway, one of the buildings had a special one hour session for little kids from 8 months to 8 -year-olds. The school had a small gym section for them and had several stations with different kind of blocks. The kids got to play at each station for about 10 minutes before going to the next station. It was pretty fun and I think it really helped Aunna that her cousin Lalito and his family where there too. Aunna was pretty much running around like a wild child. Yeah, pretty normal I guess.
After the hour at the blocks, we all headed to another center in the building and got to see some neat displays of science from What does electricity do to a person (used a really cool display setup) to having a large robot move a ball. I'd have to say though that the best one I like was a more simple one. The Highway department had some large toy cars attached with a bungee cord to a little wall. The kids got to color and design an egg and put it in the car. One of the eggs would have its "seatbelt" on. Roll that car back and let it snap into the wall. Kids had a blast and hopefully Aunna was at least wondering why her egg was cracked.

Back To School
Just trying to give a quick update on what has gone on the past couple of weeks.
I'm back in school and already in the second week. I'm going to pick up some programming classes and math and working on getting ahead of it. Should be a little easier as I don't have another job at the moment.
This past weekend, we went to a "Public Appreciation" Event held in our city civic center. A couple of my sisters came with us and their kids and brother-in-law. We thought we would only be there maybe an hour at the most...Yeah, with kids...not gonna happen. There were quite a few booths and little prizes, especially for the kids. Even had those poor guys in the mascot suits. You know, the ones where you are not quite sure how they can even see where are they going. Anyway, it was fun and there were a lot of neat cultural dances we got to see. But the biggest surprise was when Jessica took Aunna to see the lizards and reptiles display at one of the large booth centers. I thought Aunna wouldn't even come close but she surprised us all when the lady took out one of the snakes and asked who would like to pet it. (** NOTE **: These were professional handlers, not like a bunch of kids with no training). Yeah, so Aunna wanted to pet it! Last year she wouldn't pet a small chicken. This was by no means a small snake either, looked kinda like a boa constrictor and was wrapped all around the snake handler. Jessica and Aunna came up and petted the snake and she had a blast. It was kinda funny, Here Jessica, Aunna, my nephew and Brother-in-law are all out petting the snake. Meanwhile, my two sisters and I are sitting away from the exhibit area. I'm thinking we must have had the snake fear put into us. Eventually, Anita (sister) and I finally came around to come and pet the snake .... and Aunna for a second time around as well. It was a lot of fun. In the end, I think we ended up spending three hours at the event.
What a day to forget the camera ay?

Arizona Trip
We had a great time on our trip to Arizona. It was my first time back I believe in a couple of years. I honestly can't remember. I have been there a couple of times but rarely saw any of our friends Phoenix or Tucson area so it was nice to get a chance this time around.
We arrived in Phoenix and Brett Major met us at the airport. He was nice enough to give us a ride to the rental car agency and from there we headed to Cody and Chloe's home. We got to their place just in time to head to Gospel Meeting. We would have made it sooner but I had a little problem... We didn't realize until we arrived in Phoenix that I didn't have any meeting clothes. I had asked Jessica if she remembered to bring a tie for my meeting clothes. She hesitated for a moment and then said "I don't think I even packed a shirt. As a matter of fact, I didn't pack any socks for either of us". To make matters worse, I somehow caught my pant leg on something at the airport and heard a rip... That's right, I tore my pants...at least it wasn't that visible to the public. I had just gotten rid of an old pair of jeans before we left on our trip and now on our week trip I had one good pair of jeans left. So, I changed into my one good pair of jeans and we took off to meeting. It was great getting to meet the workers in the mesa and were surprised at many young toddlers and babies were there. We got to talk with a lot of our old friends there and had a wonderful evening back at Cody and Chloe's home.
The following day, we left to a potluck at one of our friend's home and got to visit some of our elders when we lived in Chandler. We had a great time and it seemed like years since I had last seen them. Anyway, the following day we packed up our rental and rode down to Tucson with one of our best friends Brenda. Aunna really seems to like Brenda and enjoyed showing off her sign language. Once in Tucson, we got to have dinner with Court and Melanie nicely remodeled house. They were so kind to let us move our entire junk into their entry room so we could the rental and wait for Candy (Jessica's mom to pick us up). Aunna, Sariah, and William played really well with each other and the parents didn't have to worry over them as much. Candy came over and we were able to load all our junk and headed out to Wilcox to spend the rest of our week with family.
It was a great time and we really miss all the friends and family. It was amazing how much the kids had grown and we really look forward to getting to see them all again someday. Anyway I should end this entry before it gets too long. :)
Oops, almost forgot to mention why I have some extra time on my hands. The morning of our flight home, I got notified that I was being included in part of a company lay off. Apparently the shift I was in was being dissolved and the economy was just too soft to keep us. I guess it works out since a few days after I got home, I got really sick and I'm just finally starting to feel better. So if any one knows of any Electrical Engineering or technical jobs, please let us know! :) I'm currently going to school to learn some programming if that helps.

Where have you been.
It has been just over a month now since we had a chance to blog. Ever since the baby we have kinda been all over the place. Hopefully, we will be able to catch up over the next few days. Jessica said that I should split up the blogs to not make this one long. So this part is just mentioning what has gone on since the baby up to our trip to Arizona. The first big news is the changing of a name, well, more of an edit. We originally had planned to spell the baby's name as "Alena". After much talk...a lot of talk, we are adding an extra "n" to her name and is now spelled "Alenna". I didn't know this but you can actually make changes to a baby's name during their first year without much trouble. Almost sounds like a limited warranty doesn't it?
Anyway, about a week after Alenna was born, Candy came to help out. I had finals coming up and was working a lot at the time. Jessica and I knew I would not be around much...though as much as I am right now (will explain later). Candy was a very big help and even helped keep Aunna company while mom was able to get some rest. Candy stayed for about two weeks before heading back to Arizona. I finished with finals and was not just focusing on work right before the trip to Arizona. With two days to go before the trip, the company informed the employees that we would be shutting down until after the new year. That was not much of surprise as several of us were expecting that to happen with the slow economy although not so soon. At least all of this made it easier to focus on the trip and getting things ready.
Since we had some extra time before the trip, Jessica decided to take some pictures of Alenna and Aunna in a basket that Candy had painted. I think they turned out pretty good for the most part.

New Addition
We are really sorry for such the long delay between blogs. It has been a very busy month. Especially today. We would like to welcome our newest member of our young family... Alena Liz Castaneda. Born 8 lbs 2 oz and 20 inches in length. She was born as the St. Alphonsus Hospital. Mom is doing really well and the delivery went really well and pretty quick. Baby Alena has so far been pretty melo but is a little stubborn.
Anyway, we wanted to upload the photos but the server is not working right. Will upload as soon as we can!
