12We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. 2 corinthians 10:12

We are tempted to compare ourselves to others in several areas:

1. Abilities
6 When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes. 7 As they danced, they sang: "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands."
8 Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him. "They have credited David with tens of thousands," he thought, "but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?" 1 Samuel 18:6-8
Comparing abilities usually leads to Jealousy.

2. Appearance
6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, "Surely the LORD's anointed stands here before the LORD."
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1Samuel 16:6,7
Comparing appearance usually leads to Inferiority.

3. Acquisitions [our positions]
Comparing positions usually leads to Envy.

4. Adversity [our troubles]
1A psalm of Asaph.Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.
2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold.
3 For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong. [
a]
5 They are free from the burdens common to man; they are not plagued by human ills.
13 Surely in vain have I kept my heart pure; in vain have I washed my hands in innocence. Psalm 73: 1-5,13

Comparing our troubles usually leads to Resentment.

5. Achievements
Comparing our achievements usually leads to Anxiety and Stress.

What Does God Say is the Answer?
1. Realize that God made you to be unique.
13 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
God says don't compare yourself to others because you're not designed to be like others!

2. Make your own declaration of Independence.
2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
God says don't conform yourself to others because you're not designed to be like others! Don't let others compare you to try to mold you.

3. Relate to others without comparisons.
31"Do to others as you would have them do to you." Luke 6:31
5 " Love does not compare!" 1Corinthians 13:5
If you don't like to be compared, then don't compare. Encourage Uniqueness!

4. Evaluate yourself only by God's Standards.
3If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
4Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, Galatians6: 3,4
God says we can have ligitimate pride in ourselves when we evaluate ourselves by how He has made us and what we're doing with those unique qualities.

Assignment from Ghie:

THREE THINGS ABOUT ME THAT YOU DON'T KNOW YET:
1. Noong Elementary pa ako I was the Secretary sa class namin. Track and Field ang hilig ko. Tumatakbo ako ng 100 and 200 meter dash. Sinubukan ko ang 400 meter dash pero hindi ko kaya. At tsaka high jump and long jump rin. Bakit kaya ngayon mahirap ng tumakbo? Madali na akong mapagod.

3. Ayaw ko ng Mathematics. Math ang pinakababa kong grades. H'wag kayong maingay ha! How about you?

Assignment from Ka Uro

Is It Really Bad to Stare?
Yes and No. Depende. Pag may tumititig sakin at alam ko hindi ako magpapahalata na alam ko. Bahala sila. Actually, I smile at them. Pag ako naman ang tumititig sa iba hindi rin ako nagpapahalata lalo na kung gwapo; hehehe.

Do You Have a Favorite Song?

Click the button to play or stop.Could I have this Dance?
Yan ang theme song namin ha!
Image Image
I'll always remember the song they were playing
The first time we danced and I knew
As we swayed to the music and held to each other
I fell in love with you
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life
Would you be my partner then every night
When we're together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life

I'll always remember that magic moment
When I held you close to me
Cause we move together I know forever
You're all I'll ever need

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life
Would you be my partner then every night
When we're together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life
Would you be my partner then every night
When we're together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life

Let's face it – English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries inFrance. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on. When the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

PS. – Why doesn't "Buick" rhyme with "quick"

THANKSGIVING

Image
Twas the night before Thanksgiving and in my sleep.
Strange dreams in my mind, began to creep
Thanksgiving leftovers beckoned — The dark meat and white,But I fought the temptation with all of my might.
Tossing and turning with anticipation……The thought of a snack became infatuation…..
So to the kitchen I did race, Flung open the door, And gazed at the fridge full of goodies galoreI gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes, Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,Till all of a sudden, I rose off the ground!
I crashed through the ceiling. Floating into the sky….With a mouthful l of pudding and a handful of pie, But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees.

HAPPY EATING TO ALL!

PASS THE CRANBERRIES PLEASE!

This assignment was given by Ana P ages ago. Ngayon ko lang nagawa. Sorry Ana.2o years ago:
I was living in a Dormitory in the City of Davao studying Midwifery @ The Fabie School of Midwifery.
My father died before I graduated. I wasn't able to say goodbe when he was still alive. They didn't tell me until it was too late. Someone picked me upand told me that my father was really sick. When I got home there were a lot of people. I knew then that my father was gone. I cried and wasn't able to go right to the house immediately. My fathers last word was to say my name.

After I graduated and passed the board exam I went to Hagonoy, Davao del Sur. I worked in the Hospital there @ Clinica Rudinas and Hospital. Later, I went to Singapore.

15 years ago:
I arrived in Ontario, Canada. It was November 1990, winter time. It was the 1st time I saw real snow.

5 years ago:
I got engaged to be married.

Last year:
We moved to our 1st house. And I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Abigail Faith.

This year:
We celebrated Abigail's first birthday. After her birthday I went back to work. And also we celebrated our 4th year Wedding Anniversary.

In 5 years:
Hopefully Abigail will have a baby brother by then.

Now, I will pass this assignment to Mergie- Meme's Blog. She's a new blogger.
