The Ward Blog

A month or two past, I got called as the Historian for my ward. Sadly, it was my own fault I got the call. One of the members of the bishopric asked us to email him any pictures that we had of ward activities from the last year. Because I'm into taking more pictures of life around me, I had a lot. I don't even think that the rest of the ward combined had as many pictures as I did. So, after I had sent all of my pics to him, he called me in and asked me to be the Ward Historian.

In true fashion, I decided to make a blog for my ward. Mostly it will be just pictures of activities, but I think everyone will like it - if they ever visit it, but that's a problem for another day. If you're ever interested, you can look it up here: Wilford 2nd Ward Blog.

Licking The Beaters

I think this is still one of my favorite activities. I love licking the beaters or the bowl - especially if it's brownie dough, carnival cake or danish dessert. Mmmm!

Belated Valentines

I can't believe I forgot to post the Valentines I made of my nieces and nephews for my siblings. Better late than never I guess.

The New Fire Station

Today was the open house for the new Millcreek Fire Station. We've watched the building from clearing the lot to completion. It was very exciting to go inside and take a tour around the building and in the various vehicles.

Addie kept saying "Eeyore, Eeyore" and finally we saw what she was looking at. Can you see the Eeyore inside the grill?

♥ Happy Valentine's Day! ♥

I know a lot of people who hate this holiday - especially single people. I quite frequently hear it named "Single's Awareness Day" which is just not veryhappy sounding. I know I'm one of the few, but I rather like Valentine's day. I don't have a boyfriend and have never had one over Valentine's day. So, I don't even know what that would be like - although I surmise it would be pretty fantastic. I still like Valentine's day. Here's my top 10 reasons:
  • it celebrates love - love of family, friends, significant others, etc.
  • you can make Valentine's, which is one of my favorite things to do
  • you can deliver your Valentines. I don't knock and run anymore, but I love to imagine the faces of the people I give one to. It makes me smile!
  • heart shaped sugar cookies with frosting
  • heart shaped candy - sweethearts, smarties, sprees and cinnamon gummies
  • cupid. I chuckle every time I think of a chubby cherub shooting love arrows
  • romantic movies. There are always a couple that come out in theaters and dvd in February. A few I've liked this year are: When In Rome, Valentine's Day and I Hate Valentine's Day. Also, many of the tv channels have romantic movie marathons that I have stayed up way too late watching.
  • romance novels. I think this is the only time of year people deem it "acceptable" to read them. Although, that doesn't deter me from reading them year 'round.
  • Valentine packages. I always try to send off something to family and friends who are out of town.
  • Valentine colors. Red and pink! These are two of my favorite colors - my room is even painted in these colors!
These are the reasons that I love Valentine's day. When I hear people stress out about it or complain I just want to tell them to relax and enjoy the holiday for what it is. It's not a day to focus on you and your relationship status. It's a day to celebrate those you love and who love you.

Flashback Friday: First Curls

Yes, I know it's not Friday. My computer is slowly dying and I can only work on it in spurts. I've not forgotten about Flashback Fridays, I just had other things to work on when my computer was awake. So, without further ado here's pictures of me with one of my first curly hairdos.
