Art – Terivanis Colored Sketch

TeriFarah

His nephew, Farahlor, had taken his first steps.  Kelanori had warned him that he was still unsteady walking on his own.  Terivanis walked slowly along the stony beach, holding the young elf’s hand.  He had missed this with Lilindor, having still been grieving at that point.  Technically, he hadn’t been there for Farahlor’s first steps either, but he was here now, walking with him while he was still unsteady on his feet.  That was more than he had been able to do for Lilindor at the same age.

The waves rushed in, lapping at their bare feet before rushing back out again.  Farahlor would pause each time, looking down at the water swirling around his feet and making joyful squeals.  Terivanis smiled softly each time.

He had, occasionally during the last year, wondered how possible a baby with Vajarra would be.  It hadn’t happened yet.  Perhaps they could adopt one, eventually.  For now, he was content to be Farahlor’s uncle.

Aeramin – Letter and Notes

Dear Isandri,

Thank you for your letter.  I greatly appreciate all of the information you were able to provide.  I hope he is aware I am doing all I can to get to him and get him to safety.

I was wondering if you saw the basement that he was in?  If I can get close enough, I may be able to teleport in if I have an accurate description of it.  Is he kept in there all the time, or only certain times of the day?  Were there any walls or support beams that I should be aware of?  How high is the ceiling?  Was there any furniture or anything else along the walls?  Where does he sleep?

I was also wondering if you knew when Vallindra goes there?  Do you know if she goes on the same day or days every week?  At the same time?  How frequently does she go?

I don’t want you to get into trouble, so don’t ask if you don’t know any of this.  Kestrae and I are already concerned that Vallindra suspects you’ve done something.  I do not wish for her to have even more reason to point the finger at you.

Thank you again,
Aeramin

***

Notes:

  • I’ve written to Isandri.  Hopefully she remembers something or has at least seen the basement.  I’m not so sure Berwick will be able to see it.
  • Berwick responded.  He’ll do it.  I still need to figure out how I’ll keep in contact with him while he’s there.  Maybe he’ll have an idea.  Hopefully he’ll be able to make it here to discuss the details soon.
  • Kestrae may know someone who can make some fake identity papers, for both Berwick and Sanimir.  Sanimir will need them after I get him out of there.  The plan is to hide him until they stop knocking on my door looking for him.  It may take a while.  Hopefully, it won’t take too long.
  • I could make fake papers, in a pinch… I think.  I’ve never tried before.
  • I won’t be able to visit him often due to my mother.  I need to purchase a dragonhawk or whatever I can get here so that I won’t have to tell anyone where I’m going with it.  I can imagine they’re going to be watching me fairly closely, even if there is no evidence that I was ever at the farm.  I imagine the people you rent dragonhawks from would talk fairly easily if you handed them a few gold pieces.  I can’t let that happen.
  • I’ve been practicing my portals today.  Rupyap has been a suitable test subject.  He gets so upset when he gets stuck in things.  I definitely knew when my portal wasn’t right, which was most of the time, unfortunately.  I’ll have to practice again soon.
  • I finally have help with my mother.  They sent me a troll priestess.  A troll!  At first, I thought it was some kind of joke, but no.
  • They could have warned me first.  I almost didn’t let her in.
  • It’s working out well enough.  She’s been on time every morning and hasn’t ate my mother yet.  She’s the reason I’ve been able to get to the library.  I’ve been able to go practice.  I will be able to go buy a dragonhawk while my mother is home with the priestess.  Maena seems to like her too, although I have to explain who she is every morning.  So far, she hasn’t remembered what a troll is, and that’s for the best I think.
  • I was a little lot wary of leaving her alone with my mother the first time, but she is likable.  She did my dishes too.
  • I don’t know if I can ask her to stay overnight to watch my mother while I go get Sanimir.  So, I don’t know what I’m going to do for that either.  Maena needs to have someone here.  I’m probably going to have to go there at night, but I don’t know how early I’ll be back.  I don’t think it will be before she wakes up.  The plan is to stop at the bank so he can get his money out in his name, at a misleading location, then he can deposit it at another location with his fake name.  That way, he won’t be broke and unable to get to all the money he’s earned.  He can also help pay for the inn.  I do have a steady income now, but it’s best if my name isn’t associated with paying for any rooms anywhere.
  • Kes pointed out that was another good reason for me not to do the papers on my own.  The less I’m associated with it, the better.
  • I have been requesting records at the library of the town in the address that Isandri sent.  I gave them a false name at the library.  Beldroth Redfeather married a woman named Glinassel Lightmist.  They have three grown children, two sons and a daughter.  They all reside at the address of a hawkstrider farm.  This is the same address that Isandri gave me.
  • It’s likely that they’re family.  Glinassel Lightmist is from out of town.  I found no records of her in the town before her marriage to Beldroth Redfeather.  I’ve taken a wild guess and requested public records on the name Lightmist from Silvermoon.  If I’m lucky, those records will be ready today.  If not, then hopefully by tomorrow.
  • My hunch is that Glinassel may be one of Sanimir’s aunts.  I know his father has a few sisters.  Sanimir had mentioned that before.  I don’t know where Isturon was born, but I’m hoping Silvermoon.  If not, then I don’t know where.
  • No one has seen either Vallindra or Embersun for a few days.  Maybe I should start making wild claims that they’re sleeping with each other.  It would be funny, but I don’t stoop to their level.  I have no idea where they get the idea that just because a man and woman are friends that they must be sleeping with each other.  They’re both crazy.
  • I haven’t seen the human lately either.  I rather liked talking to him.  Maybe the food scared him off.

Art/Story – Aeramin’s Portal Practice

Image

Aeramin’s Portal Practice, colored sketch and very short story.

It always took a moment for Rupyap to adjust to his new surroundings after being summoned from the nether.  This time they were in a forest.  He liked forests.  Wood caught fire so easily and there was nothing more satisfying than being surrounded by burning trees.  He doubted his master had that in mind.  He looked up at the elf, noticing that he was concentrating on casting a spell.  A portal opened in front of him.  Rupyap eyed it warily.

“Go on,” the elf looked down at him, gesturing towards the dark glowing circle. “Go in the portal.”

“Are you sure, Master?  Where does it go?  You’re not good at these, no?”

“Shut up, Rupyap.”  The elf’s ear twitched.  “It goes into the tree behind us.  The bird men have carved a tunnel leading up to their homes at the top.  The portal should open up perfectly into the confined space.  You are to go through.  I will summon you back.  You will inform me if I need to make adjustments.  Is this clear?”

It was clear.  Rupyap had no other choice than to obey, though he wasn’t thrilled about the possibility of being stuck in the tree if the portal wasn’t perfectly aligned to the tunnel as his master claimed, no matter how momentary it may be.  He neared the portal, looking back at his master once more.  “Master, if I may ask, why are we doing this?”

“I need practice, Rupyap.  I’ll need to be able to make some fairly precise portals soon.”  He nodded once more towards the portal.  “Go in.  I’ll summon you back.”

Rupyap went in.

Xyliah – Xyliah’s Diary

Dear Diary,

Berwick and I are back in Dalaran for a bit to sell some of the things we’ve found.  I shipped another box of skins home to my father.  I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.  I’m currently looking for a buyer for the rest.  If they sell as well as last time, it shouldn’t take very long.

Berwick received a letter from Aeramin while we were gone.  It was kind of surprising.  Apparently, Sanimir’s parents have had him silenced again and sent off somewhere.  Aeramin wants Berwick’s help.  I wasn’t sure what to think at first.  I mean, Sanimir doesn’t deserve that no matter what he did, but Vallindra supposedly goes there from time to time and she might recognize Berwick.  That makes it sound a little dangerous.  Aeramin wants Berwick to get information and possibly work there.  I don’t know how long it will take.  It could be days or weeks.

I’ve decided to spend some time at an inn in the town.  Many places that hire help like that, provide a place for their workers to sleep.  I don’t think they require them to stay there.  It’s just easier for a lot of people who do that kind of work, and probably cheaper for them to run if they provide lodging and meals.  He should, at least, have time off now and then to go into town, even if he stays on the site to make it look good.  I’ll be bringing Ember and Thalien with me.  We don’t know how long it will be, and I don’t want to leave either of them at the stable for any length of time.

Latahlali – Diary Book

Dear Diary Book,

We’ve moved.  I think it’s for the best.  Raleth has kept suggesting it, gently, and I’ve finally agreed.  I’ve heard some things.  Dalaran isn’t as safe as it used to be.  I don’t think it would be safe for Potato either.  Raleth thinks that Shattrath is the only safe place.  I’m not sure it’s the only place, but it probably has the biggest library.

There are a lot of different people here.  I don’t think there are many kaldorei, but at least the draenei are tall.  I felt really out of place in Dalaran sometimes, being taller than most people.  Once in a while one of the Highborne were there, but they probably feel a little out of place there too.  Maybe that’s why they all hide.  I don’t even know where Ellorian went.

Raleth wants me to pick a name for Potato, but I know he doesn’t like Bodawai or any of the others I thought of before.  He had thought of a nice one, but I forgot what it was and I think he lost the paper he wrote it down on.  Anyway, I had to think of names again.  I like Takoda and Keme.  Maybe Awan or Mingan.  I don’t know.  Maybe Kes can help.

Kes should be somewhere in the city!  I’m so excited to see her again.  It’s been ages.  I think most of our friends have already left Dalaran.  I know Isandri and Thero are still there.  Raleth thinks they might go back to Silvermoon.  Isandri was supposed to talk Thero into letting her have a baby too and we were supposed to raise them together.  I guess that won’t happen now.  Kes was supposed to get married and stop drinking her tea too.  I don’t think anyone knows where Sath is.  I never heard from Sora either.  I hope they’re all okay.

The new house is nice.  Our neighbors are bird men.  They’re not druids, just really bird men.  They’re kind of strange, but they don’t bother us.  We’re near the bridge that goes out to the forest.  I’d like to see it.

***

Dear Zhyra Moonflower,

Hi, I don’t know if you remember me, but you came to see me in Dalaran.  I was wondering if Vael was okay?  Maybe someone could remind him to write to me.

I hope the orcs haven’t attacked again.  I also hope you’re still in Astranaar because that’s where I’m sending this.

Vallindra – Vallindra’s Notes

  • Between Eversong, Dalaran, Silvermoon, Shattrath and Shadowmoon Valley, I’ve hardly had time to write, and now I don’t know where to begin.
  • I’ll start with Eversong.  I went last Friday to silence my brother again.  My father asked me to bring his apprentice along.  I couldn’t believe he doesn’t realize that she talks to Aeramin.  I’m willing to bet he asked her to go and find out where Sanimir is.  Anyway, I expected there would be a paper to read afterwards to see what he had written to her.  There was nothing.
  • Of course, my first thought was that she took a letter out for him.  So on Saturday, I visited my family for a short time in Silvermoon.  I spoke to father privately about Sanimir.  I told him that I thought they were mistreating him.
  • The look on his face alone made the trip there to talk to him worth it.  I think that was the last thing he ever expected me to say.
  • He said he had heard similar things from other people.  I assume he means his apprentice.  I don’t think anyone else has been to visit him besides her and I.  It wouldn’t surprise me if she was trying to get Sanimir moved back to Silvermoon so that it would be easier for Aeramin to get to him.
  • I mentioned this to father, along with the fact that the paper Sanimir had written on to communicate with her was missing.  He didn’t seem to believe me at first, or if he did, he wasn’t taking me very seriously.
  • Okay, he used the word ‘paranoid’.  I’m not paranoid.
  • I suggested that someone from mother’s side of the family could watch Sanimir.  I mentioned I’d bring it up with her if he remained indifferent about Sanimir’s safety.
  • Again, that look… completely worth it.
  • He did finally ask me to open a portal to the hawkstrider farm.  I obliged.
  • It was mid-afternoon so everyone was out working.  We found Glinassel just heading in to start making the supper.  She agreed to take us to see Sanimir.
  • He was in one of my cousin’s homes, in the bath.
  • I should have opened the portal straight into the home.  Figures, they saw father and decided to clean the boy up.  Glinassel was quick to explain that Sanimir tries to run away daily and they have to chase him and bring him back, and he has gotten a few bruises and scrapes from that.
  • You could tell Sanimir was embarrassed to be in the bath with everyone there.  Glinassel said they couldn’t close the door while he washes because he climbs out the window.
  • Father did a lot of frowning, and giving me and Sanimir both that look.  He asked about how Sanimir was eating and asked to see where he was sleeping.  They showed him a room, but then mentioned that he sleeps on a cot in the basement because they need to sleep at night and there are no windows down there.  They assured him that the cot is comfortable and it’s only until they can trust him not to sneak off at night.
  • So I wound up being the bad one for showing concern about my brother!  I guess they’ll find out when Aeramin comes to take him.
  • Then father tried to talk to Sanimir.  He was still in the bath, crying.  I swear, he could probably fill a tub with his tears sometimes.  At least he’s silenced so it was quiet.
  • Father asked him what happened to the paper.  Sanimir couldn’t write because he was all wet, but he kept pointing at the candle then at father.  We figured out they burned it, somehow, because he didn’t want me to read it.  So again, I’m the bad one.
  • He asked Sanimir how he was eating and Sanimir held up one finger.  Father figured out after a few guesses that he meant he ate once per day.  That was when father started lecturing him about lying and said that Glinassel had promised to care for him as she would one of her own.  He wasn’t going to be able to come home early by lying.
  • Then he gave me a look, like I was trying to help that skinny brat come home or something!
  • So that was that.  I opened a portal for him to Silvermoon, and I went back to Shattrath.  Sanimir was left crying in the tub.
  • Oh, and Aranae is still missing.  I’ve checked for her a few times in Dalaran, since I was the last to hear from her, but I haven’t heard anything else.
  • I went to Shadowmoon Valley.  I’m technically staying there.  I met with Xanaroth and we went to the ley-line he wanted to find.  It was a medium-sized one.  He said he could feel it.  I believe he must be able to.  His casting attempts were much better this time.  He’ll need more practice.
  • He had mentioned the possibility that I may be interested in learning more.  Well, in a roundabout way, he did.
  • Funny, he told me to think about it more when I said I would be interested.  I’ve been thinking about it ever since I met that priest at the sanctum who taught me in private.  I know this is a little different, but in many ways, it is the same.
  • I figure I’m meant to be alone.  The biggest difference would be the demons.  I’m already familiar with fire spells, and I’ve read numerous books on the subject of demons as I have had to deal with them occasionally.  I think I would make a good student.
  • I went back to Shattrath the next day and had a drink in the lower city before returning to Shadowmoon Valley.  Kestrae and that archer were there.  I can’t believe they let him bring that pig in.  I figured since my father’s apprentice might know the actual location of where Sanimir is, then Kestrae would know that I know.  She’s sleeping with Aeramin so she’s probably already told him.
  • Come to think of it, I haven’t seen him.  Maybe she really did feed him to one of her demons.  I guess, in that case, I have nothing to worry about.

I’m still messing with this one off and on.  I swear I’ll finish it some day.  It’s obviously in the past now that the patch is live and blood elves being in Dalaran in character are probably asking for trouble.  I’m eagerly waiting for the servers to come up!

Still a work in progress. Lots of work to do on it yet. 🙂

Aeramin – Letter to Berwick

Dear Berwick,

Hello.  I hope all is well.  I also hope you’re still at the address in Dalaran so that you’ll receive this letter.

I need some assistance.  I will be paying, if you are willing to aid.  I’m not sure if you have heard or not, but Sanimir has been moved from Dalaran to a location in Eversong by his family, whom have had him silenced again.  I am doing what I can to gather more information on the location, but I cannot leave Shattrath as my mother has no one else to care for her.

We are 100% certain that he does not want to be there.

I’m looking for someone willing to travel to the location to gather as much information as they can.  Perhaps it could be under the guise of taking a job there, if they are hiring help.  Simply watching from a distance is the only alternative I can think of if they are not hiring anyone.  It’s less than ideal so hopefully they are.  I need to know the layout of the area, and inside the buildings if possible.  I need to know how many people are there and their routines.  I need someone with an eye for finding important things.

Would you be available and willing?  If you are not, perhaps you know someone who is?  I’ve lost track of most of the people I knew who could have done it, having moved to Dalaran a few years ago.  I have asked someone here in Outland, but I didn’t think he would be interested in the first place as he has work already.  Of course, someone who works, but sets their own hours and takes their own jobs, may be the better choice.

There is one more thing.  Vallindra may show up there.  I may be able to get the usual day and time that she goes from the same friend who gave me the address.  I do ask, if you decide to help, that you stay out of sight during her visit.  It may be best to use a false name as well.  Let me know if you think you would need documents to prove who you are.

I will be unable to come to Dalaran to discuss all the details due to my mother’s fragile health, but I will reimburse you for any portal expenses.  You can find me on the Scryer’s Tier.  I spend most evening’s working outside on the doorstep of my apartment across from the inn.

Please let me know as soon as possible.

Tell Xyliah I said hi.

Aeramin – Aeramin’s Notes

  • I received a letter from Isandri, and an address.  I want to drop everything and go there, but I can’t.  I have to take care of my mother, so I’m waiting impatiently to find out if Kes got a letter and if hers has anymore information.  The more we know, the better.
  • Isandri sent a drawing of the place too.  She said she thinks it’s near the Ghostlands.  If the address is right, I think it’s near the town where I used to live when I was little.
  • Really little.  Things were good when we lived there.
  • She said he was going to dig out.  I think that means it must be really horrible.  I can’t just burst in to rescue him though.
  • I still don’t have a plan.  I would send someone to scout, but I don’t know anyone who could.
  • I should start asking around since that’s my only idea that doesn’t end in me being arrested.  Hopefully.  I mean, it’s not against the law to count how many people are there and where they spend most of their time or take note of their routines… or see if he can be seen there, and where and what time might be best to try to find him there.
  • I miss him so much.
  • Maena’s cut was getting worse.  She wouldn’t leave it alone, so I had to take her to the healers.  It’s getting more and more difficult to go anywhere with her.  She’s very unsteady on her feet these days.  She’s even unsteady while off her feet.  I bought a couple of extra pillows last night while she was sleeping and put them at her place where she paints.  It seems to have made a difference.  I know she would be upset if she couldn’t get up to paint.  I think she thinks it’ll sell.
  • She always thought it would sell.  My father knew better.  He was right about that.  It’s not that she’s not good, but she didn’t have the name.  No one wants to buy art from some nameless woman from Murder Row.  Except Arancon used to not say it so politely.
  • Anyway, I took her to the healers and they were able to close the wound.  I asked them if they would be sending someone to help soon, and they said they were still looking, and were following up on a couple of people whom they thought might be able to help.  It was a relief to hear.
  • Kes has offered to watch her from time to time so that I can get to the library.  I hate asking her to, but I do need a break.  Until they find a priestess available for it, I have to accept what help I can get.
  • Muffins seems to be adjusting to life here well.  I think sometimes he’s looking for Sanimir.  I am too.
  • I don’t think Muffins swallowed the pen tip.  He would have shown some kind of symptoms by now.  He seems okay.
  • There’s been a human about, staying at the inn.  He mentioned that he studies curses, or how to get rid of them.  Most mages know how to do that.  I’m assuming that’s something he already knows.  Maybe he’s studying stronger curses.
