This week, Sally is our PoW for W3 Prompt #190 I have selected the line ‘A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn’ from the great poet, Wordsworth’s poem ‘ The World Is Too Much With Us’.
A Pagan? Yes, I am.
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
By any criticism, I’m not torn
God particle in everything I see
By grace, I sculpt idols to worship thee
Of all that reminds me of your blessing to me
Of the incarnations, protected me
Let those who want to laugh, laugh, or mock me
But they can’t shake my faith or deter me
Yes, I’m a Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
Know nothing how to show my gratitude
Except sculpt idols and pray in platitude
You may hate, but for protection, I’m sworn
This universe is as much inside me,
As much as it exists outside me.
