Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Eve:

We have more snow than we know what to do with!! It snowed all day and continues to snow today. Mike got the bobcat out so he could remove some of the snow from our drive. He also made a few sledding hills in our front yard!

We had some surprise visitors too. Jan, Ellie and Kay stopped in for a bit to say hello and drop off some gifts. Carson entertained us while Payton and Ellie played in her room. Everyone got some snuggle time in with Aidan too!

The kids went out and played with their sleds for a bit. We dug out our favorite Christmas books and read a few stories too. We had a great day staying in while it was Snow Snow SNOWING outside!

We also had a surprise package arrive for the kids today. Grandma and Papa Crabtree’s presents arrived just in time! Aidan also had a quilt from my aunt Joyce Parks. It is very cute and goes well in his room!

Christmas Morning:

What a morning we have had!! I woke up to a little girl advising that “Santa has been here”! It was 5:45 so not TOO early! She went and got Carson up. I didn’t hear him say anything but heard him RUN into the living room! They both came back to our room poking and prodding us up! I got Aidan out of bed and got his diaper changed and headed to the living room where the other two were anxiously awaiting!

The kids loved their gifts and made sure to say thank you to Santa. Aidan got a cute little puppy that you can hook up to the internet and download songs and favorite things. You can also download Aidan’s name so the puppy sings songs about Aidan. It is very cute! Payton and Carson got a Wii and Love it! They have been playing it all morning. Payton got cool back packs for she and her American Girl Doll. She also got a new bed for her AG dolls as well. Carson was stoked to open his MP3 player and large garbage truck. Why he wanted a garbage truck I am not sure but he wanted one BAD!

We have a spiral ham in the roaster and will celebrate a quiet Christmas here today. We will have to go and break through the untouched snow as well!!

Merry Christmas to all!!

A Visit with the Big Man in Red

Last night Carson had wrestling in Jackson.  It just so happened that I had not taken the kids to see Santa yet so we all packed up and went to Santa first and then dropped Carson off at wrestling practive.  All 3 kids did great and took turns on Santa's lap.

Carson:
Carson went first and jumped right on Santa’s lap which is the first time that has ever happened. He went down his list one item at a time. Santa was awesome and listened intently and asked a lot of questions. Carson never stopped smiling….until….Santa asked Carson if he had been a good boy. Carson nodded his head a big giant yes and Santa advised him that he would be checking with his teacher too. Carson stopped dead still and just stared…no blinking….you could have heard a pin drop. It was so funny!!

Payton:
Payton followed on Santa’s lap and also brought her list for him. They went through her items and she was sure to find out Santa’s favorite cookies and Rudolph’s favorite snacks. I heard her whisper to Carson on the way to wrestling that she KNEW that was the real Santa and not one of his helpers!

Baby Aidan:
He sat on Santa’s lap as he would if it were Mike or I holding him. He didn’t seem to notice it was actually SANTA!

I worked until noon today and then picked up the kids early at school. We are starting to get the beginning of our Winter Storm. It is supposed to have layers of ice and lots and lots of snow. I don’t mind because we will be here and both have the next few days off of work. We are all safely home now so LET IT SNOW!!

We wish all of our family and friends a Very Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Why do I wait so long in between posts??? It seems like there is barely enough time to catch up on laundry and housework let alone keeping our blog up to date!

Mid November Payton and I went to a weekened scrapbooking event in Spirit Lake. She had her own pictures and scrapbook and completed 29 pages! She did really well and stayed up late with all of the “big kids”!

We haven’t slowed down much since our last post! We survived a very packed Thanksgiving by going to Ames to see Mike’s family and then on to Missouri to see my family. Payton got to go see Disney Princesses on Ice while we were in Ames. She had a blast and was amazed at the costumes. She paid attention to every detail including the skates and how they coordinated with what the princesses were wearing. We headed back on Sunday and the kids were back in school on Monday.

Carson went to his first wrestling tournament in December. I couldn’t believe how nervous I was! Even during the day I felt very nauseated and couldn’t stand the thought of going to the meet! He was very excited and couldn’t wait to start. We were pretty lucky because his first match was against another boy in our wrestling club so it was nice they knew eachother. It was a pretty good match and kept going back and forth. Finally Carson won with his first pin of the season!! I stayed in the stands for that one and Mike went down to the mat to cheer him on. I had Aidan and didn’t want to be yelling and screaming while holding him (I have since found out that I can yell and scream w/ him but was just too nervous the first time!) Carson ended up getting 3rd place and got a cool trophy…which he carried around the rest of the night…and slept with…and held onto the entire next day…and took to school on Monday! Let’s just say he was very excited! We have since been to 3 other tournaments and brought home 2nd place finishes and another 3rd. Carson took 2nd place at the Jackson tournament which qualified him to travel to Rochester in March for the MN State tournament. We are planning on going and are excited for Carson!

Payton has been practicing hard with her gymnastics routines. She knows her floor routine very well and it is fun watching her. She also has a balance beam routine and I am amazed at how graceful she is at the age of 6! We will go to her gold medal performance in January which will be fun!

Aidan is a MOOSE! What a big boy. Weighing a little over 18 pounds and is almost 5 months old! It is hard to believe how much bigger he compared to Payton and Carson at his age. He is a good eater too. We have started him on rice cereal and basic fruit and he LOVES it. He likes to smack his lips together in between bites which always makes me laugh!

Payton and Carson got to roller skate for a week in Phy Ed at school. The school rents roller skates and gets to keep them for a week. The kids then use them every day that week guring gym class. I volunteered one day to go in and help the younger classes get their skates / wrist guards on and help any little ones that would fall and get their feelings hurt! I went toward the end of the week so both kids had picked up on the skating by then. They did so well and only fell a few times!

The kids had their Christmas program for school last Wednesday. Payton had to dress up like an elf but Carson got to wear his cute Train Christmas sweater. Carson’s class got up first and sang a few songs and then sat down but Payton’s class was on the stage the entire time. They had a little play / skit thing and the entire group would sing songs. When Carson was walking out, Mike was video taping and said, “Didn’t Carson have on a sweater this morning”?. To my horror, Carson walked on stage with his wrestling T-Shirt on! He had taken off his cute Christmas sweater after I dropped him off at school and exchanged it for his scrubby t-shirt! I couldn’t believe it! Tricky little guy!!

It is hard to believe that Christmas is almost here. Where did the year go? Mike picked up our last few gifts for the kids last night and now I just need to finish wrapping them. I am excited for Aidan’s first Christmas although he has no idea what is going on! Payton and Carson will have lots of fun with their gifts and we are looking forward to hanging out at home Christmas weekend. It is one of my favorite things to do. We go to Church / Sunday School program on Christmas Eve, come home and bake cookies for Santa in the Easy Bake Oven and then go to bed. On Christmas day and the next few days, I take off of work and literally let the kids stay in their PJ’s all day. They just hang out at home and play with their new things. I can honestly say it is my FAVORITE time of the year. It looks like we might be getting LOTS and LOTS of snow to play in this year. Weather predictions are starting and it looks like we may be measuring the snow in feet!

I would like to take this time to wish our family and friends a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy time with your friends and family and be safe this holiday season!!
