Why do I wait so long in between posts??? It seems like there is barely enough time to catch up on laundry and housework let alone keeping our blog up to date!
Mid November Payton and I went to a weekened scrapbooking event in Spirit Lake. She had her own pictures and scrapbook and completed 29 pages! She did really well and stayed up late with all of the “big kids”!
We haven’t slowed down much since our last post! We survived a very packed Thanksgiving by going to Ames to see Mike’s family and then on to Missouri to see my family. Payton got to go see Disney Princesses on Ice while we were in Ames. She had a blast and was amazed at the costumes. She paid attention to every detail including the skates and how they coordinated with what the princesses were wearing. We headed back on Sunday and the kids were back in school on Monday.
Carson went to his first wrestling tournament in December. I couldn’t believe how nervous I was! Even during the day I felt very nauseated and couldn’t stand the thought of going to the meet! He was very excited and couldn’t wait to start. We were pretty lucky because his first match was against another boy in our wrestling club so it was nice they knew eachother. It was a pretty good match and kept going back and forth. Finally Carson won with his first pin of the season!! I stayed in the stands for that one and Mike went down to the mat to cheer him on. I had Aidan and didn’t want to be yelling and screaming while holding him (I have since found out that I can yell and scream w/ him but was just too nervous the first time!) Carson ended up getting 3rd place and got a cool trophy…which he carried around the rest of the night…and slept with…and held onto the entire next day…and took to school on Monday! Let’s just say he was very excited! We have since been to 3 other tournaments and brought home 2nd place finishes and another 3rd. Carson took 2nd place at the Jackson tournament which qualified him to travel to Rochester in March for the MN State tournament. We are planning on going and are excited for Carson!
Payton has been practicing hard with her gymnastics routines. She knows her floor routine very well and it is fun watching her. She also has a balance beam routine and I am amazed at how graceful she is at the age of 6! We will go to her gold medal performance in January which will be fun!
Aidan is a MOOSE! What a big boy. Weighing a little over 18 pounds and is almost 5 months old! It is hard to believe how much bigger he compared to Payton and Carson at his age. He is a good eater too. We have started him on rice cereal and basic fruit and he LOVES it. He likes to smack his lips together in between bites which always makes me laugh!
Payton and Carson got to roller skate for a week in Phy Ed at school. The school rents roller skates and gets to keep them for a week. The kids then use them every day that week guring gym class. I volunteered one day to go in and help the younger classes get their skates / wrist guards on and help any little ones that would fall and get their feelings hurt! I went toward the end of the week so both kids had picked up on the skating by then. They did so well and only fell a few times!
The kids had their Christmas program for school last Wednesday. Payton had to dress up like an elf but Carson got to wear his cute Train Christmas sweater. Carson’s class got up first and sang a few songs and then sat down but Payton’s class was on the stage the entire time. They had a little play / skit thing and the entire group would sing songs. When Carson was walking out, Mike was video taping and said, “Didn’t Carson have on a sweater this morning”?. To my horror, Carson walked on stage with his wrestling T-Shirt on! He had taken off his cute Christmas sweater after I dropped him off at school and exchanged it for his scrubby t-shirt! I couldn’t believe it! Tricky little guy!!
It is hard to believe that Christmas is almost here. Where did the year go? Mike picked up our last few gifts for the kids last night and now I just need to finish wrapping them. I am excited for Aidan’s first Christmas although he has no idea what is going on! Payton and Carson will have lots of fun with their gifts and we are looking forward to hanging out at home Christmas weekend. It is one of my favorite things to do. We go to Church / Sunday School program on Christmas Eve, come home and bake cookies for Santa in the Easy Bake Oven and then go to bed. On Christmas day and the next few days, I take off of work and literally let the kids stay in their PJ’s all day. They just hang out at home and play with their new things. I can honestly say it is my FAVORITE time of the year. It looks like we might be getting LOTS and LOTS of snow to play in this year. Weather predictions are starting and it looks like we may be measuring the snow in feet!
I would like to take this time to wish our family and friends a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy time with your friends and family and be safe this holiday season!!
