Happy Birthday America!

I love the 4th of July and all the excitement that comes along with this holiday each year!  I'm so grateful to be an American with the freedoms and blessings that I have been given!  I'm grateful to those past, present and future who serve and sacrifice to preserve these freedoms!! Thank you!

This year was like many before! We celebrated with friends and family, food and laughter, great weather and lot of fireworks!
With the 4th being on Monday we had a 3 day weekend so we started off with a camping trip up at LS Ranch!  Unfortunately, these are the only pictures I took this year!

Just north of ranch is a National Park...pretty!

Cute boy!
Monday, the 4th, we decided to shake things up a bit!  We got up super early and headed down to Provo to watch the Hot Air Balloon launch!  I've always wanted to do this and have never been able to get my behind out of bed to be there by 6:30 AM!!  This year I was determined to do it and we did!!  Only problem was...the balloons never launched!!  As we headed down we expected to see the balloons begin their assent.  The sky was pretty cloudy and threatening, so we assumed that they had delayed the launch.  As we drove around the field of balloons to find parking, we saw them all inflated and tons of people.  We drove around and finally found a spot, & loaded up the kids in the stroller.  As we walked to the intersection just before the field we look up and notice all the balloons are gone!!  So disappointing! I asked someone walking away what happened and they said they had cancelled the launch but were letting people just look at the balloons when a sudden gust of wind came and almost took out all the balloons!! They were down in minutes and one nearly blew away!  Silas' friend was there and posted video on FB of the one that almost blew away!! Scary!!  So we missed it all!! LOL!!  Oh well! We'll try again next year!!
Next...A new tradition...[I guess it's not really a tradition until you, what? Do it two times??  Well, it will be next year]...Awful Waffle Breakfast!  We both wanted to go somewhere yummy but what options are there, really, besides Denny's, IHOP, VI or McDonalds??  I'm glad we happened upon The Awful Waffle (don't let the name fool you!) It was super yummers!!  A little waffle/crepes stand just south of BYU on 800 N. and 800 E approximately...

Doesn't he look so grown up!! Where's my baby boy??

And this cute little thing...

Of course I failed {again} in the 'taking pictures' department...where's the pic of the food??

Our next shake up was to...SKIP THE PARADE!!  "WHAT?!!??" you say!!  Yep, every party has a pooper and this year it was us!!  Instead of sweating it out at the forever long parade, which really I do love but let's face it..after the 'fly by' I could go home and be totally happy!!  Although, I did miss out this year on complimenting all the 'Beauty Queens' on their modesty, but it's okay, there's always next year!! {wink, wink}
Like I was saying...our next shake up...we headed to 7 Peaks Water Park at 9:30 am and enjoyed a perfect morning lounging in the water and getting to play with family and friends!! It was perfect, not too hot, not too busy!! LOVED it!  {AGAIN, picture fail...none of T & J and E & V families!}

She loved blowing raspberries on the tube!! LOL! Funny girl!
 After naps we got all spruced up [except me] and went to the Farlow's for a BBQ, friends, family, and fireworks!!  We only bought snaps and sparklers this year {party poopers} BUT thoroughly enjoyed watching EVERYONE elses' firework displays.  This was the first legal year for aerial fireworks in Utah [not that that stopped people before] but, seriously, we were surrounded and it was really fun!  Of course, Reagan HATED them and Silas ended up taking her home to bed before the big fireworks at the park! Drew was a trooper and loved watching the {slightly boring} fireworks from Thanksgiving Point!

Sooooo Behind!!

So, just like scrapbooking, my blogging has gotten so far behind that I feel overwhelmed by all the past posts I need to add that frankly, I DON'T WANT TO DO IT!!!
Well, that said, I do want to keep blogging.  I just will need to start with current events and try to post previous events randomly!  We'll see how it goes!! Wish me luck!!

A Quick San Diego Trip

Silas' Uncle Glenn passed away just before Thanksgiving.  We knew it was coming but it's still sad when family and friends pass away.  We were fortunate enough to fly down for the memorial service that Silas' dad, Barry, had arranged.  He did such a wonderful job and I'm so glad we were there to hear all the fun stories about Glenn from family and friends.  Many people came to honor him and it was so great to be part of it!  Uncle Glenn passed away due to complications with diabetes.  As many of you know, I have diabetes and I'm grateful that I am doing all I can at this point to remain healthy!

On a brighter note...during our quick trip we, OF COURSE, were able to spend some time with Silas' family!  We had a great time even though it was a short visit...but we knew we'd be back in 3 quick weeks for Christmas.

Here are some pictures from the weekend:
