Tis the season

Image
To be thinking of Christmas.. the decorations are hung with care we've been to the beach to hang out with family time to decorate the tree... Sometimes it is a little hard to be jolly when sad things are happening all around us But that is all the more reason to remember why Christ came into the world. Thinking of all who are sad, unhappy, blue, grieving, not well... May God be with you now.

more pre Christmas scenes from the Australian Beach

Image
Christmas scenes in Australia are quite different to the northern hemisphere! Although it may look cold, it wasn't.  It has been quite warm and sunny at times, rainy and humid at other times. But we have been mostly lucky and had fun with family.  A barbecue at sunset was a great time, The last two posts have been partly for Donna at Country Days and Journeys and the little photo competition which is about pre Christmas scenes this month! No doubt there will be more to come!

Early Christmas scenes...

a lizard (water dragon) sunning himself on a rock...  just love these poinsianas flowering  now... I wonder if they will still be in flower in time for Christmas?  this one is on my afternoon walk, (when I get there) and you can also see the sea in the distance just underneath it...wonderful! and an hibiscus, again on my afternoon walk. Hope you have a great week. May God bless you at the start of his special season, Advent. Would like to sahre with you a poem I read on a daily devotional site this morning from SOUNDBITES MINISTRY: NOT CELEBRATE? Not Celebrate? Your burden is too great to bear? Your loneliness is intensified during this Christmas season? Your tears seem to have no end? Not celebrate? You should lead the celebration! You should run through the streets to ring the bells and sing the loudest! You should fling the tinsel on the tree, and open your house to your neighbors, and call them in to dance! F...

Important meetings

There have been some important things happening in my home town this weekend. Besides having an extreme heat wave, the world leaders are meeting at the G20 summit in Brisbane. Currently I reside at the beach, a little way away, so have been checking out the proceedings on the abc news and online. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-16/near-record-highs-forecast-for-final-day-of-g20-leaders-summit/5894822 Was very impressed with President Obama's speech at UQ yesterday. The University of Queensland holds a place dear in my heart. My husband, and I met and studied there and our three children went there. I was the only one to emerge with a regular degree, the others all took varying number of years to do a Master's or PhD's. It makes one hopeful for a better world to see the leaders come together in one place.  Despite some misgivings on my part before the latest elections, it seems to me that our Prime Minister seems to be coping fairly well as host to the event.  Ot...

Personal Photo Challenge.. Trees

Image
There are trees along creeks, and walking paths... There are trees that shade us as we learn to walk and play, and shade the buildings in which we work... Trees to look at from inside... trees along foreshores of rivers and beaches trees planted a long time ago that glow gold at sunset... and have pretty things growing at their feet... trees , and moon that reflect in the lake...can you see the moon too? I could go on and on. You get the picture!! ;-) Thanks Donna, from Cottage Days and Journeys for once again hosting this Personal Photo Challenge. One day I may even get to read all the wonderful tips you give us, and be able to use a good camera properly!! If you would like to see others participating in this humble monthly event, please go to Donna's other blog, A Personal Photo Challenge . ,

some more spring flowers

a very late wordless wednesday

A new friend...

Image
As I was sitting out in the sun one day, I happened to see a lizard. Decided to take some photos. Had no idea until the last couple, as I moved around the other side of her, that she was actually laying eggs into one of  the holes she had dug! I think she is a water dragon, and I think it seems as if the eggs take 12 weeks to hatch. I wonder how many of them will make it? I hope I didn't frighten her! Think she might be one of the lizards I saw the other day, and I think I posted some photos of the two of them then, not all that long ago. Hope you too have the time to sit and relax, and enjoy the world around you this week. And to observe something remarkable about God's creation also.

More Spring flowers

Image
No words needed really, especially as I am never certain of the names of these flowers. Enjoy.

Spring flowers from Toowoomba

Image
Wisteria..one of my all time favourites... the always beautiful daisies... Just a few of the wonderful spring gardens in Toowoomba, mainly from Picnic Point. Will have to save some of the best for the next post. Hope you are able to enjoy flowers from a  garden, wherever you are today. May God Bless You and Keep You.

Still Life... A Personal Photo Challenge

Image
My entry for Donna's photo competition comes from a trip to Toowoomba for a visit last weekend. On the way to and from I enjoy checking out how College's crossing (west of Brisbane), is going after it was almost all  washed away in the big floods from a few years ago. The structures are coming back, not quite so many yet, but a little cafe, toilet facilities, of course the river is the main attraction, especially popular on a warm weekend like last.  One more less spectacular  photo below, gives the explanation for the name of the area, a place very near where my grandmother was born up along the river a little, and around the same era. Maybe that is why I am often drawn to this place and its history. Many thanks to Donna from Cottage Days and Journeys for hosting this little competition to which some of us look forward, even though sometimes I have, like today, used a photo from my cell phone.... all I had on hand when I actually stopped to make a phone call to ...

My new friends

Image
emerged from the garage to find these new friends hanging around the other day! Have a great week, hope you find some new or old friends to hang out with this week too!

Spring is here

Image
Spring has arrived very pleasantly, with some nice spring rain falls...and of course all the wonderful flora... this delicate purple flower was found in the local park among the rushes beside the pond/spring... And of course with the onset of Spring comes the spring school holidays...good fun to spend more time with the kids...  pretty fresias, may have been featured already  good to have a quick trip to the ocean, despite being unwell, hence someone had to wear Grandma's jacket to stop him from coughing in the sea breeze... a tent is always a fun place to play on holidays... Just as well we are all feeling so much better and the coughs seem to have disappeared in time for school again! Hooray.
