rose and sandalwood delight!

I decided to make my own

liquid hand soap

after seeing a super easy recipe online somewhere.

All you need is;

*a bar of soap,

*a small bottle of glycerine

(for about $4 from any chemist)

*water (the recipe I used was 10 cups but next time would use half that much as mine is quite watery)

and if you're inclined,

*essential oils!

It's so easy, affordable and smells so0oo good!

You just grate a cup of soap, add the water in a pot with a tablespoon of glycerin and a couple of drops of your favourite oils.

Stir slowly on low heat until all the soap is dissolved, let cool, pour in a pump bottle and enjoy!

I found some rose glycerine

and added

sandalwood essential oil

and it's pure happiness in a bottle!

Willow and I have started a little habit

of going to the woods together with Frodo and Oakley

every Saturday to...

.... hunt for fairies!

(of course! ;)

We seem to be getting closer!...

I let Willow lead the way through the woods and she found

this magnificent mushroom!

and a little fairy manor....

We even found an old tree guardian...

This tree must have blown over in the wind and his spirit

is deciding where to go next. :)

It's really nice to have

'just Willow and me' time.

oh and I forgot to mention Willow's all time favourite tree!

She seems to have an affinity with it, every time we pass it she goes on and on

how beautiful it is!

Yesterday she went up to it completely unprompted and

gave it a very sincere hug.

i was so proud.

fern fascination

Oh fern,

how I love you!

It's my latest obsession!

I've always felt at home where the fern grows

...in delicate, shaded woodland areas

with crystal clear fresh water

and a breathe of magic!

I see them as the feathers of the plant realm,

their element being Air.

"Of feathers and fern"...don't they just fit!

Ferns are used for luck, rain making, health and protection.

They are the favourite plants of pixies

and wherever they grow you're supposed to find them nearby!

It was said that fern could open locks,

and break charms.

Curiously fairy people can not tolerate iron and nor can the fern plant.

Alchemically it was supposed to be able to convert mercury to silver.

And if you're in an area full of ferns at midnight puck is supposed to appear and give you a purse of gold. If you're doing it intentionally it is called

'watching the fern.'

Collect the fern spores on midsummers eve and become

invisible!

How can one not love ferns?!

midsummer roses

Midsummer already!

This spring has flown by in not quite the way I had dreamed of all winter with the flood water in our basement but at least our rooms are all sparkly and new
and there is vibrant color on the walls to keep us going next winter.

We've eaten dandelion salad & fresh radishes

from our garden.

Today we made rose petal cupcakes!

I'm trying to savour every precious gift of summer.

The wild roses smell and taste divine!

Especially dipped in a little bit of sugar~

We've also joined some friends

in running a cute little cafe in Telkwa!

It's been busy, busy, busy

like a little bumbley bee.
