Christmas Day 2011

Christmas day was definitely laid back this year - but still just as enjoyable. Slept in, cinnamon rolls, open presents - got some nice stuff this year! and a sweet new bike! - hung out, headed to Uncle Charlies to meet the family for a beautiful & delicious meal, and watched a movie. Such a nice and relaxing day - wish everyday was like that!

November 2011

November for the Antis Family has 2 great things to celebrate......... Aaron's Birthday (Nov 23rd) and Thanksgiving (which does sometimes land on his birthday). This year they were 1 day apart. Luckily for Aaron he got 4 days off (in a row mind you) and I got... Monday.... and Thursday. Thats it! I'm hoping Christmas will be much better since the grandparents are coming!

We got together again this year to Dean's house (aaron's co worker) with a few friends and uncle charlie and his gf Dawn. It was a lot of fun this year, i love being with friends and having a good time. Actual Thanksgiving Day Aaron and I slept in (as expected), watched the Parade, played video games, and had fun!

This is a great time of year! Up next, December. And a lof of fun and busy stuff! We've got Follow the Star, which i'm interpreting again this year, run Relief Society stuff, Aaron's gig: Aaron the Elf!, Grandparents coming from Oregon.... Its the most wonderful time of the year! :)

time for change

the holidays are coming up and that means time is becoming less & less available... this weekend (and because my hubby is gone in Idaho) I have all the time in the world to "re-evaluate" my life and some of the choices i've been making....

-too much peppermint ice cream, joe joe's, and chocolate chip cookies may have been a bad choice
-my nikon coolpix camera isn't that cool. i want a better one.
-i need a house maid/live-in cook, dinner & cleaning just isn't happening as often as it used to
-i need to upgrade my phone or something, these dropped calls suck
-justin beiber's "baby" has been stuck in my head for like 8 weeks straight now
-speaking of babies, how come everyone is having a baby and not me
-are my expectations for the next GOP Candidate too much to ask for?
-how come the mean old people that call in at work are all on medicare? hmm, i wonder
-lastly, why isn't harry potter #8 better then the first?? all that build up for nothing.

some inspiring change quotes shall we?

Change is inevitable - except from a vending machine. ~Robert C. Gallagher

If you're in a bad situation, don't worry it'll change. If you're in a good situation, don't worry it'll change. ~John A. Simone, Sr.

NOW GO, AND CHANGE SOMETHING! preferably not a diaper...

Dinner

We've been celebrating lots of birthdays lately.... Last night we got a surprise invite to our friend Lauren Haddows birthday dinner at Roman Cucina Italiana (Laguna Hills), it was soooo good. Naturally we split the chicken fetteccine alfredo and ordered some delicious appetizers. We love hanging out with the Haddows, especially when its birthday/holiday season.

Next birthday coming up next is Aaron's! He'll be a whopping 26 years old. And lucky for him he already got his birthday present a couple weeks ago. Does it count if my half-birthday is next tuesday? I think so...

Utah - Oct 2011

I was fortunate enough to take a road trip up to Utah with my friend Lauren and her mom, Martine. We rented a car and drove up there for General Conference. We got there Friday, I stayed with my family and they stayed with a friend. My mother, little brother Wil, and I went to the Saturday afternoon session of conference and were lucky enough to sit in the Deaf section which is pretty close up front. It my brothers first time going - he's 10. He loved it! He wanted so badly to go up and shake the Prophets hand. It was really cool to hear the announcement of the new Temples, especially Paris France!! (A Place we never thought there would be a temple)

That night as a family we went to Chuck a Rama for dinner, it's always fun to see what the kids want for dinner. It's usually always tons of Mac and Cheese and bowls overflowing with ice cream! They are a riot just running around getting whatever they want on their plate.

Sunday was just a chill day, relaxing and watching conference. That night was probably the highlight of the trip, we went down to a canyon - Wasatch i think - it was BEAUTIFUL!! Such rich fall colors in the trees and leaves, it just doesnt get much better then Utah in the Fall. Me and Mom went exploring and found a beautiful river with rocks as we watched the sun set. We had a fun BBQ with our cousins, roasted marshmallows and celebrated birthdays - my Dad, Tanner and Morgan (and was soon to be baby beckham - Lanaya and Clarke's baby who hadn't been born yet - but was born on 10/8/11, i just missed it!!)

I love spending time with my family, i was so lucky to go on this trip because I am not able to take any time off from work for the rest of the year as with Aaron (for the most part) so i knew i had one last chance to see my family until next summer.

The drive home was probably the worst.... I had the 24/hr flu throwing up and everything.... Not a good memory. But now I'm home safe and back to normal. And I missed my Aaron very very much.

Here are some pics!

In Remembrance of 9/11/01

Tom Brokaw did a wonderful tribute with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir this morning to pay honor and respect to those who lost their lives 10 years ago, on September 11, 2001. It was beautiful and inspiring program who touched briefly on the affects how these terrorists attacks have affected our lives today as Americans. I can truly say I am proud to be an American - I know I am free here, I know I have choices here, I know I am happy here. Not many can say or do that. The world if full of oppression, despair, control, heartache... Many leaders taking over their countries and way of life. I know that America is the promised land and our land is free. Many are jealous of us. I am so grateful to live in this wonderful country.

It was a school day, in the 7th grade, woke up like normal and walked over to my friend Tatiana's house to walk to school together. She said "did you hear? you'll never believe it!" I had no idea what she was talking about... Her mother was lying on her bed, just awoken and was watching the news. "two planes hit the world trade towers" I had no idea what that meant or where the WTC was... so I acted like I didn't care... "so? things like that happen all the time, people die everyday" she replied, "not like that they don't". I had no idea the magnitude of this attack and how many people actually died and what the reason for it was. Once I got to school 1st period Home Ec class teacher turned on the news and then I started to realize slowly what happened. They didn't send us home that day but majority of the remainder of school was watching the news. I said a prayer in my heart for those who died.

Image

Since then I've grown more of an appreciation of those who died that day. A lady at church, her brother actually was on one of the planes heading home from work in Boston to see his family... He didn't make it home... Another girl that grew up in RSM was serving in the ARMY and was coming home for a short trip to surprise her family and she died. The city put up a huge banner in front of the RSM lake and i walked by it every day to school.

And what I've learned the most out of all this, and especially since 7th grade, was that God knows and is involved in everything. Christ lived and died for us. He was there that day, comforting the families who lost their loved ones. And we will someday see Him again.

awwww, we were so young & in love. And to think 3 years went by that fast. We are more in love then we ever thought we could be and we are happy to say we still are crazy about each other! We drive each other crazy too... but that's a story for another time :)

We celebrating by going to LA (see earlier post) and staying in the Westin Hotel... since then we've been doing special things for each other like I wrote him a Candy Card (poster) and tonight I made him a homemade dinner and we watched a movie.

We are so happy to spend the past 3 years being married and now we really can't wait to see the next 3 years - its going to be changing a lot more i'm sure! Grad School... we'll probably have a baby by 2014 (okay, i'm sure we will..... but not quite yet). We are so happy with the way the last 3 years went and we're to spend eternity together.

xoxo, Aubrey & Aaron Antis
