Mom in Texas

Hello friends!

Mom came to visit two weeks ago and we had ball! Anderson loves when Nunna comes! I still had to keep the baby that I keep during the week, so that hindered us a little. But, we still were able to squeeze in a trip to the mall in Grapevine. A trip to Bass Pro Shop. They have the neatest decorations and they take a picture of your kiddo with Santa for free! Plus, this is probably one of A's most favorite places in the world. Ha!

Nunna read lots of books.

We went to Chick-fil-A and the cheerleaders were there. They wanted to take their picture with Anderson, they thought he was so cute. Aww!

We even made a trip to our beloved Ft. Worth Food Truck Park and tried almost every truck in the park. Lucky for us there were only 6!! Mom's favorite was a "Taste of Louisiana"...the best red beans and rice..yum!

We were sad to see her go, but we will be going to Alabama after Christmas!

He even coersed Nunna to get in his tree house. She almost didn't get out. Ha!

Okay, so I got in to. Hey, that's what you do all the time when you have an only child!

Anderson's 1st Christmas Program

Run, run, as fast as you can....you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man

Hello friends,

Today, Anderson and I baked gingerbread man cookies. It was a lot of fun and he was a very good little helper. He loved mixing and cutting out the shapes, but best of all...EATING them!

Image

He has his first Christmas program at school on Saturday and afterwards they are having a milk and cookie party so we made some for that as well.

Woodrow, one of our beagles was like the hungry fox in the story "The Gingerbread Man" cause as soon as Anderson had finished decorating his cookie, Woodrow snatched it away from him and ate the WHOLE thing! What a stinker! Thankfully, we had plenty more.

Last month and catch up...

Since I have been on a blogging kick, thought I would update with some pictures. This is Tie our foster pup. He is a beagle, who is 4, house trained and very sweet and cuddly. We are keeping him for DFW Beagles Buddies and if we didn't already have 2 pups, I would totally keep this sweet guy. I think he would be perfect for my in laws...hint, hint!

He loves to jump on the trampoline with Anderson.

During the week, I keep a 11 month old baby girl named, Charlie. She is sweet and Anderson is such a big help to me. Here he is reliving him babyhood in the walker that was his and now Charlies uses. Haha!
Image
During the Presidential election in November, Anderson and I did our own Electoral College map and watched the news and colored each state red or blue according to whether they voted Democrat or Repulican. Yes, I know...a silly for a 4 year old, but baby steps towards Harvard, right?

We have picked up a membership at the Dallas Zoo this year instead of the Ft. Worth Zoo. We really like it!

Thankful and It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Hello friends,

Image
We had a nice Thanksgiving here in Texas. Mom was supposed to come for the week, but couldn't. She will be here soon though! We started off our morning by watching my favorite Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Anderson loves it too, which makes me happy to see him share in my joy over the things that I loved as a child. One day soon, I want us to have Thanksgiving in NYC and actually get to go to the Macy's Parade. What a dream that would be!

Image
Since it was just us three, we had lunch at Cracker Barrell and it was delicious. Our friends across the street invited us over for desserts later that afternoon and then to Prairie Lights for a magical Christmas light ride through...amazing!

Our Christmas decorations are all up and the house feels so beautiful and Christmas-y. Too bad we have to take it down in January...hate that part.

Anderson has rearranged my nativity scene and added a few of his own in there. :)

Apparently, there was a German Shepherd who watched over baby Jesus and a warthog, puma and a swan.

We went to the Parade of Lights in Ft. Worth the day after Thanksgiving. So neat! All the floats were lit up with Christmas lights and Anderson, Castin and Jaycie loved it too!! This is downtown Ft. Worth at dusk. Beautiful!

A goodbye and Dothan

Hello friends,

We made a last minute trip to Dothan back in the first of November. Bob's mom, Granny passed away. She was 95 and had been brought home with Mom and Bob to live out the rest of her days. Thankfully, she only lasted 4 days and was taken to heaven on Tuesday. Mom said during those last four days of her life, that Granny didn't talk much. But one day, Mom heard her say "I'm sorry" and Mom told her "you don't have to be sorry for anything Granny". Granny told mom "No, I'm talking to Sarah(her deceased daughter in law)she is telling me to come on". I don't want to hear another person say that they don't believe in angels or God, they are fooling themselves! How do you explain that! Here is a picture of Granny with Anderson when he was just 8 months old!

This is Bob's best friend(since elementary school) and Bob out talking. I thought that it was so thoughtful of Dick to come from Savannah to Granny's funeral...that's a lifetime friendship for ya.

We spent some time over at my Daddy's house. Anderson loves Poppy and likes to swing with him on the porch swing.

Image
Yes, I know that my Daddy and I are twins. Apparently, the Ivey genes are strong.
Image

I hope that Anderson will always have a lifetime love of books. Nunna loves to read to this kiddo!
Image
Nunna had turnips in her garden and they were oh so fun to pick!

Mom's backyard and my happy place. Sigh...love this view.

Since we were in Dothan, we had to try out the Peanut Festival. We hadn't been in about 5 years! Mom and I got corny dogs(sorry that's what we call them in Texas) from the Corndog Man...and they were so divine.
Image
I'm slightly embarrassed to say that Anderson hates boiled peanuts...how could that have happened? This is Sydney(Bob's granddaughter) and A at the Peanut Festival. He announced at supper, that he would marry Syd one day and I told him he couldn't cause they were cousins ;)
Image
Adam took Syd and Anderson into the fun house and tore his shirt and hurt his back...yuck!
Image
 Swings...that this kid loved!
Image
Rollercoaster, I was so scared it was going to tip over with us in it.

Of course, A loved the petting zoo. Will this kiddo ever not love animals...no way!!
