Baby #3: 2 Months

Image
Landon is still a needy baby and wants to be held all the time. He is growing like a weed. He was in the 94% for weight and the 76% for height. The doctor assured me that babies eventually grow out of their neediness and one day I would be able to put him down. The older kids love him (a little too much sometimes). Brynn has started to say his name (Wandon). Landon is beginning to smile and occasionally coo.

Oh the early days of not being able to get both eyes to look in the same direction.

Baby #3: 1 Month

Image
Adjusting to 3 kids has been difficult. Landon is needy and rarely lets you put him down, even for naps. He really likes to be loved and cuddled and warm. He spits up a lot. I took him to the doctor because it didn't seem normal and she said it was reflux. We got a prescription and he spits a normal amount and is so much happier.
Image
4 days old and he would always fall asleep like this. I think it's because it stretched out his throat and made the reflux not hurt so bad.
Image
Finger sucking is really cute when they're this tiny. I hope he doesn't turn into a finger/thumb sucker though.

He's learning to like his binki. He doesn't love it like Tate did or hate it like Brynn did so we're hopeful he'll do okay.

Baby #3: He's Here!

Image
Landon Kerry Heber
7 pounds 14 ounces
19 inches
born at 4:35 a.m.

First off, this is not how I expected my labor and delivery to go. I felt I would go early, I also thought it would go quickly but not this early and not this quickly.

I was 37 weeks and 3 days when Landon was born. Here's the story.

Sunday, even after sleeping really well, I was sooo tired. Could not keep my eyes open tired. Not regular I have 2 small children and I'm pregnant tired. Literally could not keep my eyes open tired. As I tried to figure out what was wrong with me throughout the day I remembered being sooo tired the day before Tate was born too. I thought that maybe this is my body's way of getting me to get enough sleep to have enough energy to deliver a baby the next day but I also didn't want to get my hopes up (or anyone else's) so I didn't say anything.

Monday morning I woke up at my usual 2 a.m. to go to the bathroom. As I got up I felt a slight leak. I assumed it was just pee since my bladder was crazy full and any movement usually makes me pee a little bit (pregnancy problems). I went to the bathroom and after I emptied my bladder, every time I moved a small amount of liquid would come out. I wasn't sure if this was amniotic fluid or urine. I sat and tried to figure it out a for a few minutes but could never come to a definitive answer but I did decide to stay up for a little bit to see if anything happened.

Around 2:45 or 3 I started having what I was pretty sure were contractions but I'm always second guessing myself because I don't want to go to the hospital and have them send me home. Also, I've never had contractions without my water breaking (and therefore knowing for sure that I am in labor) or being induced (and also knowing for sure I am in labor). Also, I've never felt early labor contractions. When I feel contractions we're at the active labor stage and my contractions come hard and fast. About 3:15 I decided we should probably go to the hospital so I woke Anthony up and told him to shower. I called my mom around 3:30 and asked her to come over and stay with the kids. She arrived at 4:08 and by this time I was convinced the contractions were going to kill me before I made it to the hospital.

As we drove I continued to have contractions about 2-3 minutes apart and lasting for 30 seconds to a little over a minute. This drive was the longest 20 minutes of my life.

We made it to the hospital and Anthony dropped me off at the front door. I waddled myself up to the second floor, rang the bell and told the lady I was in labor. Anthony caught up to me at this time and we headed into the labor and delivery floor. The lady was asking me all kinds of stupid questions about insurance and my name and other things that I didn't have time for. I will talk to you after these death contractions are taken care of, okay? Pretty quickly another nurse took over and got me to our room. I went to the bathroom to get changed, which was a daunting task given the severity of my contractions. It took me a few minutes to even attempt getting changed but I finally did so and made it to the bed.

At this time the nurses were putting on my hospital bracelets and monitors and I'm convulsing in agony. A nurse asks me if I'd like an epidural and while in my head I thought "Duh! Obviously." I managed to answer with a much nicer "Yes, please." The head nurse tells me she's going to check me and then says "Oh, you're complete. The head is right there. You're not going to have time for an epidural." Hoping she was joking I asked "Really?!" She gave me the affirmative and I continued to writhe in pain and whimper that I couldn't do it. The nurse told me I had already done the hard part (contractions) and that I could do it. I didn't believe her.

The announcement that I was complete sent the nurses into action, trying to get the room ready, making sure the doctor had been called, etc. Soon after this I had to push. I think I apologized but told the nurse I had to push. Two pushes later, Landon was here and all the pain was gone. This is about when the doctor made it into my room, sorry you missed the party. I tore a bit with the delivery so the doctor sewed me back up and delivered the placenta. This part was not super painful but it was uncomfortable. At this point I was shaking and it was difficult for me to control my lower half. The muscles were all very tense. The doctor kept telling me to relax and I had to keep telling him I was trying. It was difficult. Having always been completely numb with my previous deliveries, this was a part that was just background noise. I had just had some serious trauma and the doctor is now sewing me up (which I did get some local anesthetic and those shots hurt like crazy) and also pulling on the umbilical cord to help deliver the placenta.

I don't think that I will ever choose to have an unmedicated birth again but it's nice to know that I could do it if I wanted/needed to.

Because he came so quickly, he had some breathing problems early on. The doctors were worried it was fluid in his lungs or that he could possibly have an infection but it turned out that he just was a grunty breather for the first day or so.

Landon had this giant IV the whole time we were in the hospital just in case they needed it. They never did.

We really sucked at taking pictures in the hospital. I'm blaming the trauma of the whole unmedicated birth thing.

Have you told family and friends: Yes.
Miss Anything? Sleeping through the night
Movement: Baby was super active a few days at the beginning of this week but he has slowed down to more back and forth rolling type movements.
Food cravings: Nothing really. I don't feel hungry too often but I did have a nice steak this week and it was awesome.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope
Have you started to show yet: Obviously.
Gender prediction: We're having a boy.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, I think. This question should probably be answered by my family though.

Do you have a name picked out: Nope
Looking forward to: Having a baby!

Things I'm worried about: Nothing. Which is weird. I should be worried about something. But I feel like everything is going to go great and we'll have a baby sometime this month!
Things I'm loving: Brynn pointing to my belly and saying "baby" and Tate kissing my belly and telling me how much he loves the baby.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody...Pregnant + sick + tired = don't even think about messing with me

Do you have a name picked out: Nope
Looking forward to: Sleeping well

Things I'm worried about: My body doing it's job and keeping the baby growing at least until the day he's born.

Baby #3: 35 Weeks

Image

35 Weeks
Baby is the size of a canary melon
(about 19-22 inches long)
Weighs about 5.5 pounds

How far along? 35 Weeks
Maternity clothes? Always.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I sleep pretty well, still switching sides every hour or two.  I also have this really fun habit of waking up around 2am and not being able to go back to sleep for 3+ hours. It doesn't happen every day (thankfully!) but it does happen often.
Have you told family and friends: Yes.
Miss Anything? Being able to sit to watch a TV show and being able to move when I'm done.
Movement: He's a mover! Lots of kicks by my ribs on the left side. Also lots of kicks to both of my sides.
Food cravings: Things that I didn't prepare.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I've been pretty good so far this pregnancy.
Have you started to show yet: Yep. I feel like I'm huge right now.
Gender prediction: We're having a boy.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On and I may be able to keep them on the whole pregnancy! I have had no swelling so far and it's awesome. Three cheers for third trimesters not being in the summer!
Happy or Moody most of the time: If I have to pick one, it's probably moody. I don't have the patience for  things/people/situations that I should have.

Do you have a name picked out: Nope, we have a long list of names we don't hate but nothing is leading the pack. Tate has started to suggest other names than "Tate Again." His most recent are Brook (his female cousin) and Ashley. I don't think either of those will work out.
Looking forward to: Sleeping well

Things I'm worried about: Delivering with a new doctor at a new hospital. I found out in February that despite the new insurance telling me my doctor is covered, he is not. Super meltdown. So at 32ish weeks I had to find a new doctor with no advice from anyone. Luckily, I found one that seems pretty awesome and I'm hopeful that everything goes well.
Things I'm loving: Knowing I'm in the home stretch. I'm really hoping baby comes in the earlier stages of full-term but I also want to give him as much time as I can to fatten him up in there. I'm hoping for a baby that is at least 7 pounds and can hold his temperature after delivery. That's not too much to ask, right?

Baby #3: 30 Weeks

Image
30 Weeks
Baby is the size of a butternut squash
(about 17 inches long)
Weighs about 3 pounds

How far along? 30 Weeks
Maternity clothes? Always. I still wear normal shirts but always maternity pants...or leggings.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still sleeping pretty well. Still needing to switch sides every few hours because my sides get sore. Also, my back gets so sore.
Have you told family and friends: Yes.
Miss Anything? Walking up stairs and not being winded.
Movement: I don't feel him too much throughout the day when I'm doing things but if I sit or lie down, he kicks a lot. At about 29.5 weeks he became really active. He was still difficult to feel if I was walking around but if I lied down or sat down he would go crazy.
Food cravings: McDonald's chicken nuggets.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I've been pretty good so far this pregnancy.
Have you started to show yet: Yep. I feel like I'm huge right now.
Gender prediction: We're having a boy.
Labor Signs: No but I'm pretty sure I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody, for no other reason than I'm pregnant. I just feel ornery a lot and I know I'm being crazy but I can't stop it...pregnancy makes me ridiculous.

Other symptoms: Achy back, super tired
Do you have a name picked out: Nope. Tate's number one pick of "Tate Again" is sounding better and better.
Looking forward to: No more achy back.

Things I'm worried about: The baby will come really early, like pre-37 weeks early. Not that I really have anything that makes me think he'll be super early but the Braxton Hicks and the constant pressure make me feel like he's getting ready to make his debut.
Things I'm loving: Tate talking about and to the baby.  I think he's really excited. He loves holding his baby cousins and I hope that he also loves this new baby.

Also, let's take a minute to appreciate just how gigantic I've gotten in 5 weeks.

Baby #3: 25 Weeks

Image

25 Weeks
Baby is the size of a rutabaga
(about 9 inches long)
Weighs about 2 pounds

How far along? 25 Weeks
Maternity clothes? As often as possible. I feel like I am way bigger at this point than I was with my other pregnancies and the regular clothes that worked for them are not working as well this time around.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still sleeping pretty well. My sides get really sore and I have to flip over every few hours though.
Have you told family and friends: Yes.
Miss Anything? Not yet
Movement: Lots of kicking by my bellybutton. Baby is very active when I go to bed and soon after I eat.
Food cravings: Things that are already prepared.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I've been pretty good so far this pregnancy.
Have you started to show yet: Yep. I feel like I'm huge right now.
Gender prediction: We're having a boy.
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy

Other symptoms: Headaches, really sore knee for about a week...pretty sure it's an old injury that aches sometimes and the extra weight I'm carrying just made it a lot worse.
Do you have a name picked out: Nope. Picking names is the hardest. Tate is insistent that we name the baby "Tate Again."
Looking forward to: Meeting the baby.

Things I'm worried about: The glucose test. Not that I'm really worried, it's just something I really don't enjoy.
Things I'm loving: Feeling the baby move.

Baby #3: 20 Weeks

Image

20 Weeks
Baby is the size of a banana (about 7 inches long)
Weighs about 11 ounces

How far along? 20 Weeks, I'm due April 29, 2016
Maternity clothes? Some, I love wearing them because they're obviously more comfortable than regular clothing but the pants don't fit yet.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I generally have been sleeping pretty well with this pregnancy. I wake up to roll over and my arm/shoulder is really sore because I haven't moved at all.
Have you told family and friends: Yes, I told the world (Facebook & Instagram) when I was 10 weeks.
Miss Anything? Not yet
Movement: I've felt a few bumps here and there but nothing consistent and nothing that I'm positive is the baby.  At the anatomy ultrasound, the baby was very docile. I hope that means he's just a chill baby and not that anything is wrong.
Food cravings: Things I don't have to cook myself
Anything making you queasy or sick: I've been pretty good so far this pregnancy.
Have you started to show yet: Yep. I always show but I look a lot bigger at night than I do when I wake up in the morning.
Gender prediction: I've thought it was a boy the entire pregnancy (mostly because this pregnancy is much more like Tate's than Brynn's) and we found out on Dec. 7 that I was right (if you're keeping track, I'm 3 for 3 on guessing my children's genders).
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Generally still feeling pretty good.  Tired but happy.
Looking forward to: Feeling the baby move.

Other symptoms: Dry skin, dizzy/lightheaded
Do you have a name picked out: Now that we know the baby is a boy we will start trying to figure something out. I hope it's not as difficult as it was to pick out Brynn's name.
Looking forward to: Feeling the baby move more often.

Things I'm worried about: Going into labor unexpectedly and not being able to get the kids somewhere before I have the baby.
Things I'm loving: Not being pregnant during the summer. I'm hoping this means then end of the pregnancy won't be quite as miserable as Tate and Brynn's were.

Baby Girl: 12 Months

Image
One year! It goes by so fast! Brynn still continues to be so happy but has decided that she has opinions and lets us know when she's not happy. She also is starting to give a "but Moooooom!"type pouty face. It's equal parts adorable and a glimpse into my not so distant future. She is a screamer but at least it's a happy scream. She is very talkative but doesn't have any real words yet. She loves her brother and likes to comfort him by patting his back when he's upset. She refuses to sleep anywhere that is not her crib. She also started to not nap as well/as often. She eats anything and everything and often out eats Tate...and sometimes me.
Image
Brynn loves watermelon and can't get it into her mouth fast enough when I give it to her.
Image
This is the day Brynn refused to nap. Luckily it was only one day but it was still a rough one.
Image
Brynn stands really well but she refuses to walk on her own. She loves walking while holding someone's hands or following along a wall but unassisted steps are something she doesn't do...yet.
Image
While at Leatherby's, Brynn was so grumpy but once I gave her a cup with some water in it she was all smiles...and super wet.
Image
Brynn was very grumpy on the way home from the grocery store but then she found the bag of grapes and helped herself. She was a happy camper after that.

Happy 12 Months, Baby Girl!

Image
Weight:
Height:
Clothing Size: Mostly 12 months but still in some 9 months
Diaper Size: Still in cloth diapers but would be a size 3
Milestones: Taken a few unassisted (but very coaxed) steps, able to balance for a long time
Eating:Eats anything and everything. Really loves bagels with cream cheese, always eats broccoli well and takes more from my plate.
Sleeping: Sleeps a pretty constant 12 hours, usually about 7:30-7:30. She is a wonderful sleeper and I hope all future kids are just like her! Naps are hit and miss. I think she needs to transition to one nape but she doesn't sleep long enough for that to work. Hopefully she will get the hang of it soon.
Communication: Da-da, ma-ma (though it doesn't happen nearly as often as da-da), na-na, ba-ba, always jabbering, screams
Nicknames: Baby girl, Brynnie, Brynners
