Last week, the ADPi Colony at CNU held their first Sisterhood Event! Since we have not yet elected officers, all of the colony members are working in committees.

The Sisterhood Committee came up with the idea to host "speed dating" for all of our members. The event, appropriately coined "Diamond Dates," was a huge success! The Sisterhood Committee asked everyone to wear date attire, and after the speed dating questions + 3 minute response time, we had a dessert reception.
I highly recommend this event to all sorority chapters! It would be most appropriate to do after you get new members as a way for everyone to get to know one another.
P.S. It's also a fun way to prep for Formal Recruitment conversation!
Shortly following Bid Day, each Alpha Delta Pi chapter has a Chapter Retreat. In the case of ADPi at Christopher Newport, we had a Colony Retreat! I could not be more pleased with how the day went, and I loved the time spent together with all of the Alphas (ADPi's term for new members).
I am continually impressed by the women who were selected to be our founding members. They jumped head first with enthusiasm into all of the activities we had planned for Colony Retreat; their willingness to serve and become involved is infectious! Hearing them speak as they shared more about themselves throughout the day reminded me what sisterhood is all about and how truly blessed I am to call Alpha Delta Pi home.
All this sharing started first thing at Colony Retreat with an icebreaker — Sisterhood Bingo! Who doesn't love a good icebreaker, right? In order to win, the whole Bingo card had to be completely full. The first five women to finish received some ADPi gear as prizes!

I am so blessed to work for my sorority's headquarters a second year as a Senior Leadership Consultant. If you are considering applying for your sorority or fraternity's consultant program, please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions! It is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity that I strongly encourage all to consider.

I had never heard of the school prior to our extension visit last October but, like I have mentioned in previous posts, I immediately fell in love with the students, campus community, and the beautiful scenery. Leading our colonization efforts here has been a dream come true. This community embraces the Greek movement and supporting one another so that, together, everyone can accomplish more. I have felt so supported every step of the way by the students (both Greek and non-Greek, from all sororities and fraternities), the faculty, university staff, and just about anyone I have interacted with. I never imagined that I would so quickly feel at home here at Christopher Newport.
I have to thank the Greek students at CNU and especially the founding members of Alpha Delta Pi here for making this journey an absolute joy for me. This is just the beginning and I cannot wait to see what the future holds!

I originally started writing this blog post when August began... and now it's September. When did that happen?!
Time to play catch up. Here's the quick version:
For those of you who aren't familiar with IMPACT, it's a program developed by the North-American Interfraternity Conference. Here's a little snippet about it from their website:
Thanks to Pinterest, I have already constructed some map and Lilly-inspired artwork. Based on my top finds from last week, here's what I have to look forward to next...

Crafting for my new apartment continues...I blame Pinterest. I saw a pin for how to create coasters using old Lilly Pulitzer agenda pages (totally plan on doing), and I figured why not use them for something bigger? I had a vision for a large, modge-podged, Lilly-themed piece of artwork to adorn my walls, and today this finally came to life.
After a year of being on the road, I am definitely looking forward to having my own apartment this year. One of the biggest perks of this new retreat? Decorating, of course.
And...voila! Here are the fruits of my labor:
I started out with an ancient State Farm road map that my parents still had, but never use since they both have a GPS.
I'm not typically one to paint my nails any crazy color. The fact that I've stepped out of my french manicure bubble this year is a small miracle. Lately though, I have been trying some fun colors from Essie, such as tart deco.
I'll admit, Emily Maynard single-handedly made me a Bachelorette fan this season. With the exception of Gossip Girl, I rarely watch television. Now, every Monday night, I find myself stopping whatever I am doing and racing to tune in.

The recipe says to let the dip sit in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours. However, if I were to make it again I would recommend letting it refrigerate overnight. The dip tasted a little bitter initially, but the longer we let it sit in the refrigerator the better it tasted.
With only 3 necessary ingredients (funfetti cake mix, fat free yogurt, lite cool whip) at 105 calories per serving, this is totally worth your baking efforts!
Wish us luck and follow @MSUADPi on Twitter for updates!

Serving Alpha Delta Pi this year as a 2011-2012 Leadership Consultant has truly been a dream come true. I cannot thank the international organization+officers enough as well as sisters, volunteers, and alumnae from across the country for making this year the most memorable of my life.
Luckily, the dream doesn't stop here as I will be continuing as a Senior Leadership Consultant. I know, I know...this isn't exactly "news" anymore, BUT I am thrilled to finally announce that I will be the Colony Consultant in the fall at Christopher Newport University!
I cannot wait to call Newport News home beginning in August!

After an absolutely fabulous week of "Spring Break," I hit the road today for the last time as a 2011-2012 Alpha Delta Pi Leadership Consultant. Even if I typed that a hundred times, I don't think it would ever seem real. Instead of getting all nostalgic though, let's focus on the three amazing chapters that I'll be visiting over the next two weeks!!!
Not surprisingly, I haven't blogged in about a month and a half. Let's do a brief catch up:
- Visited two chapters in Florida AND got to drive my own car both times. #winning
* Was offered the position of 2012-13 SENIOR LEADERSHIP CONSULTANT. Ahh..tears of joy ensued.
- Flew back to the Midwest where there will soon be TWO chapters in the great state of Oklahoma.
(You won't be riding solo much longer, Alpha Omicron!)
- Made a visit to the Peach State. God is so good for letting me be close to home while my Dad underwent open heart surgery the same week.
- Was surprised to fall in love with Pittsburgh.
- Saw a bit of why my Consultant Sister loves West Virginia.
- Exceeded my birthday week expectations thanks to some amazing Zeta Sigma sisters at the College of Charleston.
- Met an incoming 2012-13 LC at Virginia Tech and became instant bffs. Her excitement reminded me why I do this!
* Relished in all things Spring Break...sleeping in my own bed, home cooked meals, watching the news, finally drinking coffee for the first time since February.
Life. Is. Good.
I can't believe that it's been 48 days since I've been home. It has been a whirlwind month and a half! Since January 3rd alone, I have been to 6 states, made 3 chapter visits, was a part of the initiation and installation of our newest chapter, and attended 2 District Leadership Conferences!
As I thought about all of the places that I had been during my flight home, it reminded me how truly blessed I am. Here's a very brief recap of the past month and a half to help show you why...
Plus, check out their set of wooden letters. Could they be any more ADPerfect?
I can't believe that I leave tomorrow to begin my second semester traveling as a Leadership Consultant for Alpha Delta Pi!! I think that I type it all out to make it seem more real. Even months later, it still seems too good to be true. Now that the cat's out of the bag (I've emailed all of the important people to give them a heads up) I can tell you my full schedule for the month of January. First and foremost (as you already know if you read this post) I will be visiting the Eta Epsilon chapter at Miami University in Oxford, OH. Getting this email on my phone made. my. day.
Following what I know will be a phenomenal Formal Recruitment at Eta Epsilon I will be keeping my recruitment shoes on to visit...
Snaps to their Panhellenic!
As if things couldn't get any better in January, I get to be reunited with two of my other Consultant sisters at our colony to prepare for their big initiation and installation weekend at...
It looks like 2012 is already off to a great start! So excited to see what God has in store for this new year.
