Ah Christmas

I just wanted to share with everyone my sincere and ecstatic JOY of being done with yet another semester. It's been fulfilling, stressful, painful (the tension headaches that is), and inspiring. I am more excited than ever to get into my own classroom full of 5-year-olds and "learn them kids to read"!

Meanwhile, it's 2 weeks before Christmas...one week before we pack up and head to California for a week or 2...and a whole 3 weeks before we start another semester. We've really had only 1 snow storm thus far here in Rexburg, we woke up Monday morning to a beautiful blanket of new white snow a few inches deep. It's half melted now, but should snow again tonight or tomorrow. At this point it thrills me, because I don't have to drive to school with all the crazy California, Arizona, Florida (and yes even Idaho and Utah) drivers. A white pre-christmas with a California Christmas-Christmas. Gotta love it. Well that's my ray of sunshine for today (can you tell it's Friday, I'm off work in 10 minutes, and FINALS ARE OVER?!!)

Oh yes, Duke was neutered on Wednesday. We had hoped he would come home with a cone on his head-I even had the camera ready when I heard the garage door open. But, no cone, just a sad, tired little puppy who will never know the joys of manhood.

Happy Holidays everyone, enjoy the Christmas Spirit while it lasts!!

Baby Photos

I found this site that lets us upload photos of Adam and I and the site creates our babies. I thought I'd share them with you all. Presenting Baby Todd 1, 2, and 3 (with probably more to come because we are now obsessed with this site!)

Something I love

Don't you love it when you're driving down the street, a song comes on the radio, and just as some pedestrian is crossing in front of your car suddenly you realize...they're walking to the beat of the song you're listening to! In that very moment, your life is a music video, and this stranger is a part of it (without knowing, which somehow makes it even better)!
Ah the simple things that make us smile...

Duke and the Vet

Today we took Duke for his second visit to the vet. Adam let me tag along this time as I had an hour or so of free time before dragging my tooshy to work.
First of all, Duke hates car rides, and second of all he's terrified of the vet (for obvious reasons that will be revealed later). After a 10 minute car ride of whining and tipping his kennel on its side with every turn, we arrived at the vet. As we walked in, Duke proceeded to drool all over daddy's jacket and the tile floor of the office (he does that when he gets nervous). When we were called in to the room and he was placed on the table, he attempted his escape. Luckily he was saved from his 3-foot fall by the vet's assistant. This assistant then pinned him down while the vet shoved a thermometer up his bum, squeezed his tummy, pinched up his skin and gave him a shot, checked inside his ears, and clipped his nails (making one bleed profusely). Meanwhile, I'm sitting there watching all of this, feeling like a proud parent getting the positive feedback on our puppy's health, and yet feeling like a horrible parent allowing them to violate him in such a way.
Once they finished, he was given a treat and sent on his way.
After making his next appointment (good thing he doesn't understand what we were saying, because my guess is he would have jumped out of my arms and ran at the sound of "neutering") we placed him back in his kennel and headed for home. Just as we turned on to Main St. our noses perked up to an overwhelmingly rancid smell...dog poo. Finishing our drive with the windows down and fingers in our nostrils (which may have appeared odd to other drivers if they couldn't see the dog kennel in the back seat), we arrived home and opened Duke's kennel to find much more than we'd bargained for. Not only did he pinch quite a load...he also upchucked more than I could after a very large meal. Who knew such a small puppy could hold so much nasty?
In short, after today's expedition to the vet, Adam and I are not so sure we will be fit parents because after all, how can we handle a child if we can't even save our puppy from violation and puke?
Which brings me to my next point...when did I become a dog person??

No Snow!

Today I would just like to report that although it's raining and super foggy, it is almost the middle of November and we have no...I repeat NO blankets of snow here in Rexburg, Idaho! Now I realize that I may be jinxing our good fortune by posting this, but I'm feeling fairly positive about our winter this year. You see normally we have perma-snow from Halloween until Easter (who are we kidding, we get snow in June up here!!) but this year--no snow in November!! What a joyous day this is...

Halloween!

We hope you all had a great Halloween! Ours started with a ward costume party on Thursday-as you can see, we were a football player and a cheerleader (hint: Tonya was not the cheerleader...) Then on Friday we spruced up the house a little spooky and busted out our candy bowl for the kids! We saw lots of adorable costumes, including a little 1 yr. old Curious George! Duke went crazy every time they knocked on the door, thinking it was the neighbor kids coming to play. He felt deprived when we made him stay inside because the neighbor kids are his favorite part of every day!

Welcome family and friends to the life of the Todd family! Married now for 6+ months, having adopted a beautiful puppy, and still going to school at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho, we are about as happy as can be! Our puppy's name is Duke, and he's quite a handful! Adam thought that getting a puppy might quench Tonya's baby hunger and quit her begging...it hasn't. We thought we'd finally join the world of blogging, seeing as everyone we know seems to already be doing it! So here we are, although we can't promise the most up-to-date news all the time, we will do our best to keep you all posted!
