First Snow

On Tuesday, October 27th, we had our first snow of the season. It was beautiful. I had to drive into Salt Lake City and to say the least, I was a little nervous. When I left in the morning it was just raining, but by the time I got to the city, it was snowing. Then when it was time for me to drive home it let up until I got close to home. This is going to be be quite an adventure when the real winter comes on.
I love the picture of the jack-o-lanterns wearing their new "snowdoo." ImageImageImage

Pumpkins on Display!

Image Charlie Brown would be so proud to have a pumpkin patch like this one. Soon they will be bringing in the tractors for picture taking and then on Monday, September 28th it will open to the public. A person can pick their pumpkin from the rows and rows of pumpkins or they can take a clippers and snip off one right from the vine.

The Pumkins Are Here!

Image
Image

Each day we can see more pumpkins peeking through the leaves. The corn around the field is nice and tall. Not having watched this process before, it is fun to see the growth of both of these crops.

Snow In June!!

Image
Image

Well, it wasn't snow but from some of the pictures you might think so. On Wednesday we had quite a storm. The hail just poured and for a long time. I have been told that the weather we are having is Imagevery unusual for June. I love it!! Alan and I just stood by the window and watched in amazement. I suppose if I were a farmer and I had a crop ready to harvest, I might not be so happy about the storm. Fortunately, our garden didn't receive any damage, so we are happy.

Marvive's playing at the Uigaese's

Image
One Saturday we watched the Marvive boys and had a blast. Jake and Jonah played the Wii for a little bit. Jake won this round and Jonah beat his record. Good job boys.Image Caleb had fun climbing the apple tree. He did get a little scar on his belly from falling out of the tree. What a boy!
Image
Logan had a blast teasing Barkley. He would get to just the point where Barkley could not touch him and then would just sit there.
ImageImageImageImage
Then the boys took the box from the lawn mower and made little caves with them. They got pretty creative. I love the fact that these guys had so much fun and it was only a box. Who needs those expensive toys anyways.

Happy Mother's Day

Hope your day is terrific Mom. I love you and appreciate that although I have been gone from living under your roof for over 17 years, you are still very much a support to me and my family. You are always a phone call away with much needed encouragement. You still always know just what to say. Thank you. Have a wonderful day. Wish I could be there. Love, Lisa

Spring Egg and Peanut Hunt!

Image
We traditionally have an egg andImage peanut hunt around Easter time. This time we chose the Saturday of April 4th because the Marvive family will be out of town on Easter week-end. Due to the cold weather and snow, which had pretty much melted by the time we started the hunt, we held it all indoors-peanuts in the basement and eggs on the main floor. Chris did a great job hiding the peanuts, he is very creative!! I have included some photos of the kids looking and finding the peanuts. Unfortunately we did not get pictures of all of the grandchildren.

Utah Report

Image
I know it has been 3 weeks already since we have become official Utahan's, but I have been busy emptying 30 plus years of boxes! So today is a "snow day" and now I have a little time to catch up on the blog. The first picture of the house was taken by Chris last week when we didn't have snow on the ground. The next one is of the house today with snow.
Image
We absolutely love our new home!!! It is spacious, has great views of the mountains on both east and west sides of the house, really cool neighbors, and less than 1 block away we have a grocery store, Target, Ross, Hobby Lobby, Sports Authority, JC Penny, Office Max, Megaplex 20 movie theater and a number of places to eat out.

Alan seems to be in charge of my garden figure decorations. Here are the latest holidays he displayed. Funny that it snowed right after he put each one up.
ImageWe have seen some gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. I haImageve included a very recent one. We have a corn field/pumpkin field right behind our house. In the morning we see one sheep take a walk around the field and a flock of ducks. Through out the day we see Magpies and Robins flying around and landing in the field. The other day, a deer was in the field. We wake up to a rooster crowing each mImageorning.

We are anxious to get into the back yard and begin our gardening adventure. We have already purchased a peach and a pear tree. We are planning to use the square foot gardening method. The previous owners have already put in 3 of the garden plots for us.

Happy Birthday Jen!

What a glorious day...some 32 years ago, in a land not so far away, a baby was born to loving parents who would not realize what they were getting themselves into (until the "tude" age). They welcomed this beautiful new baby into their arms to love, teach, nurture and adore (well at least for 10 1/2 months) :) Now a few years later, she has grown to be all they expected...an amazing woman, wife, mother and sister...and think, one day a grandmother. Hope you have an amazing birthday Jen...you big chicken!

Mexican Riviera Cruise

Image
Image
Here are just a few pictures of our cruise. It was so nice to get away, however, we did do a lot of talking about our upcoming move. We met many cruisers from Utah--I guess it gets cold there! Also met a couple who lived in Flagler, CO a few years after I left, but had graduated high school from a neighboring town. The wife, whose name was Velma, knew many of the people in my class as well as some of my cousins. Small world!! The name of the ship is the Norwegian Star. How do you like the smile painted on the bow of the ship.

ImageWe enjoyed a few really pretty sunsets from Imagethe ship. The food was great and the entertainment was also very good.

We saw a great show and enjoyed dinner right on the beach on a secluded bay in Puerto Valarta.
