This year Jaden decided that he wanted a Harry Potter Birthday party. The invitation were printed on Parchment paper and said:

When the kids arrived they went to Platform 9 3/4 and then into the Leaky Cauldron where they found the brick wall that leads to Diagon Alley.

At the brick wall was a person dressed as a wizard who tapped on the door and introduced them into Diagon Alley. As they walked in Harry Potter Music was playing.

Their fist stop was at Gringotts where they got galleons to purchase there school supplies.
Enter, Stranger, but take heed of what awaits the sin of greed, for those who take, but do not ear, must pay most dearly in their turn. So if you seek beneath our floors a treasure that was never yours, thief, you have been warned, beware of finding more than treasure there.
Then they went to Ollivanders where they got to try out different wands, when they found the one that was theirs a party popper went off. "The wand chooses the Wizard," after all....

Finally they went to Madam Malkin's and were measured and received a robe and hat.
I didn't get a picture of them but the robes were white T-shirts that I dyed black and cut open. The hats were party hats spray painted black.

After Diagon Alley, the kids were then taken to Hogwarts where they were sorted into their houses. I made the sorting hat out of paper bags. I had Trent call my cell phone and had it on speaker phone. He read the sorting song and then sorted them into houses. The kids got a kick out of the fact that the hat was actually talking.

The Great Hall, is where we had our feast! And cupcakes.

Potions Class

I think this was the kids favorite class. They had fun putting ingredients into the cauldron and watching it bubble.

Divination, in this class they made paper fortune tellers that had silly things like a basilik will be in your plumbing. They liked telling each others fortunes.

Outside they had Care of Magical Creatures class. For this class I printed out different creatures found in Harry Potter and put them on sticks and hid them around the yard. I also had a few plastic spiders and snakes that they could find and take home. They had to find, Basilisk, Aragog, dragon, goblin, troll, unicorn, fawkes, centaur, owl, mermaid, hippogriff, and a few others.

The troll was the last one found and kind of tricky. Jaden was glad to be the one to find it.

Finally they played Quidditch, I think this was everyones favorite part. I made brooms and gave each boy one.

I taped hula hoops to the basketball hoop. Divided the boys into team. Each team had a seeker and a keeper. They tried to get the quaffle into the hoops being guarded by keepers. I had 2 balloons that were bludgers, if they were hit by one then they had to sit out for 15 seconds. I hid the golden snitch which was a ping pong panted gold. The seeker had to find it and that ended the game. The boys loved it!

Jaden was a seeker and he found the golden snitch.
Instead of a cake I did cupcakes that that a golden snitch on top.
The party was a huge success. It took a lot of planning and preparation but it was well worth it. Jaden had a great time and at the end of the day he came and gave me a big hug and thanked me for his Harry Potter party.
