Carthaginian army part 1: Numidian Cavalry.

At last a new post.
First I like to tell that the chemotherapy has done it's work. I'm cancer free. No operation needed.
Although I still suffer from some side effects of the chemo I finally, after more then a year, was able to paint something again.
This time I'm going to focus on painting ancient and in particular a Carthaginian army for a while. This army will be for the Mortem et Gloriam rules.
Why? To be honest I'm a bit bored painting WWII green.
To get back into painting I started simple with the Numidian Cavalry.
The miniatures are from Plastic Soldier Company and are 15mm Ultracast plastic. They are based on the metal Corvus Belli range.
The painting could be better but I'm happy with them. A new unit a new chance. Also the pictures aren't that great. Need more practice. 😉

Almost a very heavy year later.....

Indeed I'm not dead. But so far it have been a very heavy year for me.
I wasn't sure if I was going to post this post and to be honest I'm still not sure. So don't be surprised when this blog post is suddenly gone.

First part of the year I had several painting projects going on. Then when  Covid 19 hit our country I had more and more work to do (I am a mailman) because people started to order more and more online. Because of that I had less time to paint. In time because of all the work I became also very tired. This made me stop painting completely.

Then around July everything went wrong with me.
I had intestinal complaints and I didn't feel too well.
First thing I did was a visit to the doctor. But they couldn't find anything so they made an appointment with the hospital for a broad examination. The outcome wasn't good.
The diagnosis is that I have colon cancer.
Within a few days I had to start with a heavy treatment.
First 5 days of of radiation therapy. Followed by a heavy chemo treatment. This treatment takes 18 weeks. When I write this I still have 5 weeks of chemotherapy to go. Followed by surgery. Goal is a complete healing.

Due to side effects of the chemo I can no longer hold miniatures and so painting is now completely stopped.

Hopefully my next post will be more positive.

British Vickers Machine Gun team.

Painted a British Vickers Machine Gun team. The miniatures are from Battlefront and 15mm. To bad the mini on the right had a dis-formed face. Sadly enough I had no other to replace it.
This team was one of the missing infantry teams in my British or Canadian infantry Battlegroup lists.
In real the painted minis are not as bright as they look on the pictures. Bit of bad lighting.
I also noticed it needs another coat of varnish but that will happen when I have painted more minis. Then it can all be sprayed in 1 go instead of each mini separate.
I'm also thinking to paint the edges of the base in a darker brown colour. Not sure about that yet.

'Beep', 'Beep' and one Jeep.

The first painted miniatures for 2020.
Two 3/4 ton trucks 'Beep' (Big Jeep) and one Jeep.
I bought these secondhand and had to clean them and remove the old paint and then start from scratch.
All are from Battlefront only the 2 passengers in the trucks are from Forced in Battle.
Of course I'm going to use them for Battlegroup.
They will be used as gun towing vehicles. The trucks for my US army and the Jeep for the US Airborne. Maybe in the future I'm going to buy some trailers to add to the trucks and use them as Supply vehicles.

Jeeps with trailer.

Probably the last painted for this year. Jeeps with trailer.
They are 15mm miniatures and from Forced In Battle. It are nice mini's and easy to paint.
None of the 4 mini's are sculpted the same. Only the drivers and passengers are all looking the same.
These will be a nice addition to my US 101st Airborne Division Battlegroup. Used as a Supply Column.
