Dear Baby,

I’ve been bad. I haven’t been updating your blog for a while. I guess I was having too much fun watching over you that I neglected the internet and just played with you. Who would want to go online if I have you to entertain me right?

A lot of things have happened. I realized that you have a personality and I enjoy watching that personality flourish. And you can now mostly understand words. To the point that you can associate words and their meanings.

I wish I could write more about you, I really do. But I am more content just playing with you that taking a mental picture of the things that are happening is enough.

Love you.

Mama

Dear JM,

For two consecutive weeks, you have been sleeping on your own. Sure there are days when you want to be cuddled before going to bed, but most of the time, when we put lay you down in bed, you would do your own thing and in a couple of minutes you would be all settled and sleeping soundly.

I would be honest with you that this has given me immense joy. Imagine not needing to breastfeed you for a whole hour to satisfy your need for sucking or to have to rock you for a couple of minutes just so you’d go to sleep. One day, we were just playing and you lay your head on the pillow and then you slept on your own. Now I wait for your cues. I can’t force you to sleep if you don’t want to, but like clockwork, when it’s 830, you would want to get settled on your pillow and all the rest follows.

I hope this continues and you do become independent day by day.

Love,
Mama

PS. Did I say how proud I am that you’re able to do this? I was already thinking of Ferberizing you, but now, there’s no need because you disciplined your self. Happiness!

Hello my little crooner!

Yesterday, we went to church and you we’re babbling along with the choir. Your Papa and I were laughing about it because you were SINGING with the choir.

Today, I got a text from Lola saying that you sang along with Sam Milby while he was singing ONLY YOU. And now you sing along with anybody who sings that song with you.

You are the little entertainer.

Love,
Mama

Dear JM,

It’s been a while since I last wrote. I guess I’m enjoying being with you too much, it’s always a wonder to me how I was gifted with such a great gift from God.

You are now 7 months 3 weeks today. And in that time, you are now able to stand from lying position in your playpen. You can also, walk around in your playpen and can balance yourself in a standing position for a couple of seconds. Every time you attempt to balance yourself, it’s actually longer than the previous trial. When I told your pediatrician about this, she says that you might be able to walk at 10 months.

At you last pedia visit, you weighed in at 19.3lbs and 28.5in. Still 50th percentile in weight and 90th percentile in height. You’ve also started eating solids when you reached your 6th month. You like your carrots and squash maybe because of the color. We also got the go ahead from your pedia to make you start eating rice and putting in some broth in your food. Of course I didn’t tell the pedia about letting you taste ice cream!

The other day, you almost gave Lola a heart attack when you climbed your playpen. You were almost halfway out but you cried out of frustration because you couldn’t figure out how to place your hands/feet so that you can make your escape. Lola was proud of you but at the same time, was very scared because if you hadn’t cried they wouldn’t know that you already climbed out.

You also know how to remove your diapers! Which made it expensive for us because we had to put you in pull-ups when you’re not wearing body suits. One night, I woke up with you not having any diapers on! Good thing you did not do number 2, else that would’ve been one messy situation for the two of us.

The pressure is on for Lola and I to teach you how to do babye.

Love you,
Mama

Dear Potching,

Happy 6th month baby!

Wow! Six months, how time really flies. In a few months you’ll be celebrating your first birthday. Papa and I are very very excited to give you the best birthday party we can think of. You are after all our very special boy.

This month has brought a lot of changes. You are now very mobile. You’ve started to crawl a few days before your sixth month birthday. You would go on all fours, take 2 steps then fall back. I think it will take a lot of practice on your end to really master the art of crawling. Day by day, you get the hang of it. Before we know it, you’ll be crawling so fast we would be running after you.

You’ve become bolder when you discovered that you are mobile. Yesterday, you tried going down from the bed. Good thing it was feet first. Papa was there to assist you but it scares me insanely that you might fall from the bed when no one is watching you. I’ve given specific instructions to everyone in the house not to let you out of their site. You are my adventurous little boy and I know that you will be a handful when you discover that you can walk (yes! there is moving upright!). I am looking forward to telling you stories about you climbing up chairs and stuff. I am looking forward to all the adventures that I will have with you.

Aside from mobility, you also look at the person who’s calling your name. You respond to Potching (my nickname for you), JM, and Mateo. You know my voice and would instantly stop crying when I talk to you. You cry when I am not holding you from 730 until bedtime. Last Sunday, you were whimpering incessantly when I went to the bathroom to take a shower. You cried when you were unable to see me. Papa brought you in the bathroom so I can talk to you while I take a shower. You laughed in glee that you were allowed to be with Mama.

Pots, I love you. I don’t think I’ve loved any other person as much as I love you. You are my joy. One smile from you is enough to make my day. EVEN my week.

Love,
Mama

Dear JM,

Happy 5th month, baby boy!

We celebrated today with some pancit canton and cake. You sat on your bumbo seat while we sang happy birthday to you. We think you enjoyed the singing as you were continuously smiling the whole time.

Yesterday we were at your grandparents house. Whenever grandpa says 123, you attempt to pull yourself from lying, to sitting, to standing position. Oh how you love standing up! You like it so much that you call everyone’s attention with your shrieks and giggles. You even showed your Ninong your walking baby trick.

Love you babe!

Dear Potski,

Everyday you’re trying to show me and Papa that you are a little boy.

You’ve learned to use your feet and would try to climb on us when we carry you. When you hold our hand, you would usually pull up, first to sitting, then to standing position. You also love it when we make monkey sounds, making us think that you are really monkeyboy.

You’ve learned how to mimic sounds. However, you haven’t said either mama or papa. Papa and I are still betting on who you will call first. Your favorite song is tong, tong, tong. You would stop crying the instant you hear that song.

You are a very short napper. You’d rather take 5 20 minute naps than an hour nap. You wake up from naps fully recharged and ready to climb some more. This frustrates your Lola, but she can’t do anything when you flash her your winning smile.

Oh but when you smile! It’s enough to make my heart flutter with happiness. It makes me forget time and everything around me. All I want to do is look at you and smile with you.

Love you.

Mama

Dear JM,

Your first Christmas was wonderful.

You got tons of gifts (mostly clothes) and you met some people during the holidays. I also especially liked the fact that I got to spend so much time with you. We were yaya-less from the 29th until yesterday. And you were so behaved that you gave Papa and Mama time to really get to know you and just enjoy being with you.

Last January 2nd, you rolled over for the first time. Of course we didn’t get a video of you ding this. Even if you did it again the same day, we weren’t prepared. I guess we’d have to wait until you do it again.

We also noticed that you started gnashing your gums together. This leads us to believe that you might be an early teether.

I love you little man!

Dear JM,

Last night, you slept uninterrupted from 9PM until 5AM this morning. You even slept through a diaper change. The night before that, you slept from 8PM until 4AM. That’s 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Honestly, I’m the one who is a little worried.

We go through a routine every night. You go to bed after our dinner. When we put on your footed jammies and put some cream on your body and face you start to get drowsy. You breastfeed a little and then you’re off to dream land.

On the first night that you slept uninterrupted, I was actually waking up every 2 hours just to check on you. Last night, I was waking up every 3 hours. Maybe my body was just used to waking up at regular intervals during the night.

You are such a happy baby when you wake up. Earlier today, you woke up laughing and cooing. When I started talking to you to greet you good morning, you shrieked with glee.

I love waking up next to you.

Love,
Mama

Dear JM,

I took you to the pediatrician to have your colds and cough looked at. You got the colds from me which is probably a good thing since you’re also getting the antibodies from me through breastfeeding. The doctor weighed you and found out that you’re already 13lbs. She didn’t measure you since this wasn’t a well-baby checkup. We’ll be coming back in two weeks to have your shots.

So we’ve been putting saline solution in your nose to help you out. Of course you hate it. You would always look at us angrily when we do this. And because you have colds and your sleepers are already on the smallish side (blame your length), we brought out your 6-9 month footed jammies for you to wear. We tried squeezing you in a 3-6 month footed jammies and you literally looked like you were forced to be squeezed in.

Christmas is coming up and I am super excited for you.

Mama
