Pumpkin Patch Take 1 - Motley's

Image

Super duper warm day, as can be seen from the rosey cheeks and ears.
First stop, the hayride through their Christmas tree farm.

Image

Feeding the goats with Aunt Carol.   We think these goats rarely got feed by visitors because they were at the end of the 'petting zoo'.  They were quite eager to eat.

Image

Asa feeding grass to two of the competitors in the pig races.  Asa picked the blue pig AKA Raphael to win.  He won 2 of the 3 races.  The loss in the 3rd race was not his fault.  There was some confusion amonst the ranks and he got out of the gate way late.  Obviously it was a set up by the winner - yellow pig AKA Daisy.

Here's our little pumpkin in the pumpkin patch

Image

I think he was really ready to go and maybe not too sure about riding a cow named Susie Q.

Image
There he is second from the front.  The driver took us in a circle and we went super fast.  Lots of fun!

Image

Yep, I'd be looking unsure too if my big brother had his hand on the pumpkin I was leaning up against.

S is for...

Sunglasses

Image

Shh. don't tell daddy he had them on ;)

Image

And snakes - look right in the middle and you'll see a little green snake

Image

Yep, he was pretty cool.  He was in a bush outside our house.  Actually Asa spied him in our carport when we got home from preschool.  Hershey tried to 'play' with him, but thankfully didn't get the best of him.  He found his way into the bush and then under our house.

Community Helpers part deux

In lieu of the UPS man who could not attend due to an unusal large load of packages (no really, I'm not sure why the UPS man couldn't come), Bill from "Automo'Bills' " came and talked about how he helps the community.  In other words, what he does when our vehicles break down and we don't know what to do.  Super nice guy and the kids loved seeing his truck bed go up and down and of course pretending they were driving his truck.

Here's Asa giving it a go.

Gigi Pa's 80th Birthday Celebration

There were obviously more people there, but apparently Asa and GigiPa were the best photo candidates :)  The family and several of GigiPa's best pals were there!

The birthday boy and his great grandson discussing something...

The 80th birthday balloons.  Something fell from a tree and deflated the '0', hence it's sagginess.

Love this one :)

Community Helpers - Fireman visit

Asa's preschool has been talking about community helpers the past two weeks.  One day they had a visit from a local fireman.   He brought their newest firetruck for the kids to have a look at and he also talked to them about fire safety.

Image

He put on his full gear so the kids would recognize him as a good guy in case their home was ever on fire and they needed to be rescued.

Asa and his friends said the fireman looked like a 'blood sucker' with his mask on.  We still don't know what a blood sucker is :)

Image

Asa holding the helmet.  He said it was too heavy to put on his head.

Image

Checking out the new firetruck.

Image

It even has  ladder.  That's Asa walking up in the back.

Asa and his good buddy Sarah.

They love being silly together!

Manchester Pumpkin Days

The little community of Manchester, just outside of Arkadelphia had fall festival of sorts a couple of Saturdays ago.  It was the perfect sized event for Asa.  The 4H kids manned game booths, there was a pony ride, a hayride, bouncy castle and pumpkis too.

Image

This was Asa favorite game.  Go Fish.  The best part of the tug of war between Asa and the fish on the other side.  I think he must have played this game 6 or more times.

Image

Image

There was a big horse and a small pony to ride.  Given the choice, Asa wanted to ride the big horse.

Image

He really wanted to get his face painted and chose a black spider.

Image

Then he decided he wanted a white spider with "blue-green eyes", just like him.

Image

We rode on a covered wagon for the hayride and there were about 6 tween aged boys on there with us.  Asa thought they were so cool and so funny.  He had a great time listening to and joining in on their coversations.

Image

Mommy and Asa on the hayride.  Notice his fingers.  He's been doing this for a couple of weeks now.
We have no idea why and when asked, he can't explain it either.
Needless to say, it makes using his hands quite difficult.

KungFu Cactus

Our church recently had a fiesta to honor those who volunteer in the children's department.
Everyone was encouraged to come dressed in Mexican wear.
Asa decided he wanted to be a cactus!
His Nana created this costume for him.
He loved it and had a ball!
And he was the only cactus at the fiesta :)

Reading time - notice the title of the book and how intent the boys are.
Perhaps some of it they will retain!

Asa at the Clark County Fair Parade - that OBU band is just TOO loud!

Image

Chatting with the goats at the fair

Image

Daddy was a good daddy and got an armband for himself, so Asa could ride more of the rides.

Image

Asher enjoyed the fair - there were all sorts of interesting folks for him to watch :)

Milking a fake cow

Cheese!

We had a walking stick make a doorcall one morning.  He hung out all day.

Image

Asa's been asking to make a dragon cake, so we did!  This turned out pretty good I think.

Giving Mr. Asher a bath - Asa loves watching.

A spoon can be a great bath toy

This guy does not like being on his tummy.

Sweetness :)

A picture of Asa's favorite shoes.  He called them slippers and wore them everywhere he could.
We had to upgrade to a bigger size.

Asa wanted to be a cactus and his Nana made this costume for him.
He really did have a great time, despite the look on his face here.
