It's Private Time...

I don't know if anyone even looks at this, but if I do have anyone who likes to keep up with me here... I'm thinking about switching things up...

I've been trying to decide for a while whether I wanted to go private or not.  I'm still not totally decided but I thought maybe if I did, it would give me a little more incentive to keep going on the blog train, since sometimes I procrastinate and I think it may be subconsciously because I don't know what I want out for the world to read or see.

So I'm trying something new, I'm going to switch to private and see if that spurs anything inside of me to keep it up.  I like having stories and pictures to go back to since my journal is basically non existent and I feel like I need some place to document the sweet memories I want to remember from my kids.  I just really actually need to document them.

So I'm switching to private.  If anyone cares or would like to follow my hopefully growing blog, leave me your email.  Thanks a bunch!

Snow Surprise

Owen's reaction to waking up to snow on the ground...

We woke up and opened the blinds and he saw the snow outside.  The first words out of his mouth, with no enthusiasm, were, "Where my grass go?"  When I told him, it was under the snow the next thing he said was, "Who did this? Mommy do this, Daddy do this?"  I had to laugh and explain that no one did it and it was so cold outside that the rain turned into snow.  His next response, "Owie ski?"

This kids cracks me up.  He is very particular and doesn't really like change.  Anytime we change something up or it's different than he's used to.  He asks "Who did this? Mommy do this? Daddy do this?" Like he's sizing up who he's gonna get after.

All I can say is after the day we had yesterday, this was exactly the way I needed to start out our day today, having this boy put a smile on my face.

Emme - In One Word...

SWEET

Emme is the most good natured, easy going, happy, sweet baby.  Everyday, I'm in awe at this little face and how her smile just lights up my whole life.  She is the biggest blessing because dealing with a stubborn two year old is challenging and days when I'm going to lose it, I hold her and can't help but be humbled and have my heart melt all over again.  I adore her so much.

She is 7 months old now and I'm sick that I haven't documented better.  I guess it's a lot harder to stay on top of this blog thing with 2 kids and not much time to myself.  I'm so grateful to get to spend my days with my two kids.  Owen and Emme have a sweet relationship as well.  He can sure get her to laugh which is so much fun.  Every morning when he wakes up the first thing he says is "check on baby."  Basically telling me that's what he's going to do.  Then he goes and climbs up on her crib rails and that's how we start our day.  If I want her to stay asleep undisturbed, it's best if I put her in my bed.  So Owen doesn't know where she is to make his grand entrance.

At 7 months she rolls everywhere... She really knows how to get around and gets stuck in corners sometimes.  But she really knows how to get whatever she's after.  Two days ago, she started sitting on her own.  She claps and music gets her excited.  (Mostly the music from Owen's favorite TV shows).  She is super loving and loves to give me the best kisses.  She'll cuddle into me and lay on my shoulder (something Owen would never do).

Some fun facts:

LOVES:

  • to eat: loves mush, most baby food, cheerio puffs, Watermelon (is a big hit), and cookies just came into her life this last weekend and I've never seen her so aggressive with her food.
Image

  • her jumper (she is so good at it and will stay in there for hours)
Image

  • her feet (she can actually put her toes in her mouth, I figure there the one toy that she never loses and doesn't have to worry about her older brother stealing).
Image

  • her blanket
  • her mama (she gets so sad if she see's me and I don't come over to pick her up or if she see's me walk past her).  Is there a better feeling in the world than being that person to a little angel like Emme?

Have you ever seen anything look this good in a swimsuit?
  • baths (she puts her hands behind her head, just like Owen did when she lays down in the tub and just relaxes.  She just barely started spending some time sitting up and splashing.)

It's so funny to see how she has developed some of the same mannerisms as Owen.  And seeing pictures of her doing the same things he did at the same stages.  She is an absolute blessing and delight.  She brings the sweetest spirit into our home and truly helps to tame my frustrations with the "terrible twos."  Every second I have with this little angel is filled with so much love.

Emme, I love you and am truly grateful everyday that I get to be your mama...

The Missing Shoes

All ready for church and ready to go and what do you know, Owen's shoes disappeared.  He was all ready shoes on, hair done and about 5 min before we were about to leave we couldn't find his shoes anywhere.  We kept asking Owen were he put them (he's usually really good to remember where he puts things and is a little OCD when it comes to things having to go back exactly where they came from, don't even try storing his toothbrush in his bathroom if we pulled it from our bathroom).  So it was a little strange that even he was stumped.  He kept walking around all morning with his hands in the air saying "Shoes?"  We started checking garbage cans, toy bins, every nook and cranny we could think of and nothing.  We finally just grabbed his everyday shoes and headed out the door.  When we got home, we did another sweep of the house only to come up with nothing.

Hours later after coming home from our Sunday visits to grandparents; when I was getting Owen in his jammies ready for bed, I hear Bart just burst out laughing in our bedroom.  I came into our bedroom to see him snapping pictures of this...

Bart said, "No wonder he didn't know where they were.

Owen loves to try on and play with our shoes.  So he had tried these on with his church shoes and when he pulled his feet out the shoes stayed put.  The adventures this 2 year old brings is never-ending and so entertaining.

What a "Stash"

Apparently Owen hid his Halloween Candy under the oven.  I found him trying to retrieve and he kept telling me "stuck."  I saw that there were a few suckers on the floor, but when I looked under the oven, I was shocked at all the goodies he had stashed.  Dum Dum Suckers and tootsie rolls everywhere.

Smart kid, I would've never looked there, nor would I want to eat anything from under there.  Gotta Love it!

Knock Knock

Bart & I couldn't help but smile during sacrament when Owen turned to this picture in his sacrament book.  All the sudden we hear Owen say (not quietly) "knock knock" and knock on his board book.  Too Cute.
