Luke's SkyWalker

It seems crazy to me, but yes, he's just about walking. He is almost 9 months old. He's taken a few steps for me, but won't ever do it when Brandon is around or looking, so he doesn't believe it's happened. I'll catch it on camera soon I'm sure.

Whenever Luke is using his walker or whatever he's found to push around, Kurt says, "Luke's skywalkin'!" or "It's Luke SkyWalker Mamma!"

Once, there was a snowman tall, tall, tall

I was very disappointed in Iowa's snow. It is terrible for snowball and snowmen. We had to wait until the snow got rained on before it would pack tight enough.
Image Then we could make our first snowman.
Image Tada! Here he is - all 3 feet of him

Image I think he kinda scared Kurt a bit. He wouldn't get very close after we put his face on. Brandon had to carry him over - kicking and screaming the whole way - so I could get my picture.

In the sun he melted small, small, small

Image The next morning, our snowman had melted. I had to unbury his nose for the picture, and couldn't find the rest of his parts. Kurt saw him and was very sad, he said, "What happened? My snowman melted..."

Merrily we go around

Family fun night at the mall! The merry-go-round and children's museum are free here one night a month. We spent most of our time on the merry go round - I think 4 times. But once Kurt found the leopard (or whatever animal it is), that's the only one he wanted to ride. It was funny to watch Brandon (with Kurt in tow behind trying to keep up with daddy) sprint from the starting gate to make sure they beat all the other kids to the leopard.

Big smiles

Waving at Luke and I very excitedly

Merry Christmas

Carrying on the Walk Family tradition of a picture on the stairs as you come down
Image
Notice Daddy's giant stocking... :)
Image
Opening Santa's present (yes, I know I need a new camera...) He would stick his head into whatever he was opening to check it out before he took it out of the box/bag/etc. I think he was disapointed that Santa didn't bring him a train like he brought for Luke.
Image
Opening a present. He loved to climb on top of things as he ripped each tiny piece of wrapping paper off. Kurt would get so impatient and start tearing the paper off for him. He also liked Luke's presents more than a lot of his own.
Image
Luke's super happy smile. I guess he likes his blocks
Image
Again, with his head in the box...you can barely see the crack of his smile
Image
It's Rocket! Pat, Pat, Pat, Pat
Image He spent the majority of his day here at the table playing with "Big Thomas," Luke's train and MackImage
His favorite toy of the day - the box to Kurt's Mack truck. Another testament that little babies don't need presents, just wrapped up boxes :)

Ending our day with a couple of extremely loud rounds of "Hippo"Image

'Twas the Night

Continuing on a Bascom tradition of reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" with the family.

Santa Cookies

Making yummy cookies for Santa to enjoy.
We asked Daddy if he thought Santa would enjoy Oatmeal Raisin cookies and Daddy said, "Mmm, I think Santa might like Chocolate Chip better."
Image We didn't make either- funny us. :)

Kindereggs

FOR GRAYDON & KATRINA
The long awaited package arrives...
Image Kurt peeks whats at the bottom of the box while Daddy has his back turned...
(terrible camera, I know, but it was his first reaction and excitement so I put it on even though its blurry)
Image Kurt trying to get the kinders out...
Image OOOOOHH!! YEA!!!!!!
I still can't decide who was/is more excited...
ImageWhere's door #1?
Image He finally sees what is in the box that he's been so excited for (I don't think he's seen a kinder before)
Image
The location & position I typically find him in when we're downstairs. He loves to stare at the pictures and the doors and imagine what toy will be behind the next door that he and Daddy will get to open

Stockings?

Kurt: "Ooh, stockings! I gonna put dem on? Okay..." (He answers his own questions a lot)

SnowBall

Kurt's favorite game was to get me with his snowballs. Unfortunately for him, our snow doesn't really pack, so it was just a mist of snow. ImageImageImageImage

Snow Boys

Image Luke really didn't like being on the ground - but this almost looks like he was smiling right?

Sledding

Okay, Mom, I'm ready...
(yes, that is our garbage can lid)
Image

Wait, I don't know...Daddy...?

Image Woohoo! I think that was fun!Image

Oh, Christmas Tree

We don't have a tree topper, so we let Kurt put the actual tree top on. He thought that was fun.
Image He LOVES the "jingle bell" ornaments or simple round ballsImage

Shabu Shabu

Image

Thanks to some wonderful friends (who babysat for us), Brandon and I were able to go out and celebrate our 5th anniversary. We chose a restaurant called Formosa and had shabu shabu - Asian style fondue. It was fun to go out first of all, but second, to enjoy something new.

So here's to some of our "first's" in our first 5 years - 1st kiss, 1st stroll on a real beach, 1st heart surgery, 1st turtle, 1st trip to disneyland, 1st kid (and 2nd...), 1st Broadway show (and trip to NY), 1st house (if renting counts), 1st "new" car, 1st shabu shabu, 1st Christmas tree (even if some feel a fake tree isn't a tree) and Christmas at our home, and countless other memories and special moments. I can't wait to see what other "first's"the next 5 have in store - I'm so glad I get to share them with you.

I love you (biggest) most.

Parenting Fun

Last night, Kurt woke up calling my name. Brandon got up first and went into talk to him. I heard Kurt say, "Daddy, I spilled." Brandon then turned on the light to see what was spilled, and yes, Kurt had "spilled" vomit all over himself.

I know that vomit is not fun from the get go, but I've only previously experienced it from a first-hand experience. Second hand is definately worse...I now know how people feel when they want to (or do) throw up themselves when they see someone elses. Even now, at 5:30pm the next day, I'm still feeling the urge to hug the bowl. But maybe I am sick too...ugh...

Dear Santa

Image

Kurt and I finally sat down to officially write his letter to Santa. I was very impressed with his writing (since we've never really done it before). I was holding his hand to steady the pencil, but he'd make the motions I told him to all by himself. Brandon almost had him asking Santa for coal this year - he told Kurt it was for all his trains. :)

Comfy

Image Kurt was watching Basketball with Brandon. He called me to come and see what Kurt was doing - this is what I found.

Matchy

This is the first time I've bought and dressed the boys in matching outfits. It was kinda fun, but I think more suited for sisters. I was trying to have a photo session after our 4 hours of church meetings, and that wasn't going over so well with either of them. But I got a few that turned out alright.Image
