Harry Potter Party

We've had Brandon's entry level theory class over for a party the last 2 semesters. This class has a thing where you're "sorted" into the different Hogwarts houses depending on what color marker gets handed to you for board work. So we joked about it being a Harry Potter party. I wasn't sure if they really meant it, so I didn't go all out on the theme. Apparently they were because some of them came in costume. They also prepared a game of "Who Am I? Characters from Harry Potter version" that was really fun. We ate yummy food, played fun games, played a little Harry Potter trivia and had lots of laughs. It's always fun to get to know some of Brandon's students.

Luke's making new friends...
I couldn't find him once so went looking. He had brought his new friends upstairs to play with his toys with him. He and Kurt were pretty much in heaven.

Then the games began...

Even the boys had a fun game night

Taking a break for some horsey rides

Taking a dive to not lose in spoons...yes, he also knocked poor Cassie out of the way.
Brandon took the games pretty seriously

The final round, take 2. The first take had an interference and had to be replayed.
Brandon still won and he was very proud of himself.

Post it Attack

So we'll just say that someone "let" a few students into Brandon's office over the weekend. They had a little bit o fun with post it notes :) I took pictures of my favorites

Are they jealous? or proud?
Image
Yes, these are the books the post it's were on. Interesting the skewed views piano majors have huh? :)

On the Steinway...

On the Kawaii :)

Can't argue with them here

They also made him a treasure hunt

With the end treasure being...

The best prize I could think of right now :)

Pokey

Kurt was supposed to dress up like a ghost for a pac man party. At first I was trying to figure out how I'd do the whole sheet ghost deal without it looking completely ridiculous and also allowing him to be able to see. Then I thought, well, it is a pac man party, why not be a pac man ghost? To the fabric bin we go in search of something big enough. We found enough orange and Pokey was born.

I'm pretty sure he enjoyed it, I couldn't get him to take it off all day

"I Love You" Day

Kurt has been waiting for Valentines Day for a month. He calls it "I love you" day. He's been counting down the days for a few weeks now. So I tried to make it special for him.
I started off the morning by making them a trail of kisses to follow down to the kitchen where breakfast was ready and waiting. After a bit of confusion, and some direction from Dad, Kurt followed the trail and found me waiting for him.

This was my first attempt at a special heart panacake
Image
He was very excited. But it could have been that his milk was pink too...
Image
I think attempt #2 turned out better
Image
And I liked #3 the best. He must have too because he asked me for a trade in :)
Image
Luke joined us a bit later. As you can see, he didn't just follow my trail of kisses, but he collected them all too. I couldn't figure out what was taking him so long to come down... but his little paws can only hold so much chocolate at a time. So he found a baggie in which to collect his loot. :)
Image
After a handful of chocolate, he discovered his breakfast and was excited too
Image
Even Dad got to join us for breakfast before heading off to work
Image
After dropping Dad off, we snuck back in to decorate Dad's door
The top says:
Hey Big Hunk! We heard it through the Grapevine that you are an awesome Daddy! Thanks for making us Laffy. You are a Star!
(I know it's not very ingenious, but it was a last minute addition - Kurt remembered last year that we'd put candy on his door and wanted to do it again.)
Image
Then we came home and had our special Valentines lunch (which they requested again today so it must have been good)
Image
And thank you Papa Murphy for all your commercials. Kurt wanted nothing else but a heart pizza for dinner. I tried to make my own for him, but he wasn't fooled. :) He said, "Hmm. Looks pretty good Mom, but the shape isn't in a heart."
Image
We finished off the night with an ice cream sundae - topped with all the candies we could think of

Cousin Q

The boys LOVE Qwinton! They are so excited every time he stops by to visit. We weren't able to celebrate his birthday with him because he'd gone home. So we had him over to do a belated celebration. Qwinton was a great sport and even let the boys put candles on his cake.
Q and Kurt are discussing what will happen if he doesn't get all the candles blown out and maybe if Kurt could help him out (with the candle blowing part, not the kissing of the girls part)
Image
Anticipation of how many girls he'll have to kiss...

Pure delight the number is zero :)

Rose Colored Glasses?

I looked out the window and did a double take. Our snow was pink!
So I took a few shots of it.
Image
I went back in a looked out again a few minutes later and our snow was purple!
Image
We do get some amazing sunsets out here. This beautiful one even colored our snow.

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, I Wanna Decorate Cookies With You

Me, the girl who makes up excuses to have parties, hadn't had one since we moved to Idaho. So we figured it was time we had some kids over to our house.

Due to a lapse in my mathematical genius, I doubled the already large cookie recipe. I was able to get the kids through half of them, but I still had a lot left over (about 50).
Image
So Kurt and I worked together to decorate a few more for his preschool teachers and for Dad's classes

Sous Chef

I've been having the boys help me a lot in the kitchen again. It's fun for all of us. Luke is usually the one who wants to help, but this week Kurt also learned about cooking/baking at preschool. He made his apron and his hat and now thinks he is the sous chef.
