Wrinkles Optional?

I've come to grips with the fact that I cannot possible look my best all the time. I mean, I'm just lucky if I show up to work with my hair done and makeup on! So, do I really care that I may or may not come to work with jeans a tad more "creased" than I would normally wear...umm, not really. I find it amazing how far I've come since the days when I had the time to try on multiple outfits and debate over which cute shoes I would wear. Today I do not have such luxuries :(

p.s. I actually would have ironed my jeans this morning if I had more time! Ahhh, time management....that is a topic for another time:)

Resurrecting The Blog

I'm retooling this blog a bit. I've decided to write on my life as a mommy to two busy, funny, crazy kids. I'm sure other mommies out there can relate to a lot of my same experiences...well, at least I hope I'm not the only one who either feels this way and/or had this happen to them. Come on, help me feel better about the mommy guilt!

I've realized recently (from Halloween to be exact) that I have become that mom. I'm that mom who's kid takes off running quicker than I can blink. I'm that mom who's kid ran up and knocked over the carnival game at the Harvest Festival, much to the dismay of the two ladies working the booth. I'm that mom who's kid would not get out of the bounce house (twice) and then tried to bypass the very long line of kids patiently waiting their turn for the bounce house. I'm that mom who now has no shame when the kids are throwing a fit in the store...yeah, it's embarrassing but what can I do about it...really?

Well, here's hoping I can keep up the blogging this time!!

7 Months

Image
Diego turned 7 months old last Saturday. The next day he cut his first tooth and then the day after that he decided to start crawling. My what a big birthday 7 months was!! We've known that he would be crawling very soon since he has been "practicing" (aka rocking on his hands and knees) for some time now. Diego also sits up quite well by himself and loves to play with toys that light up, have buttons, and make sounds. What he REALLY loves is to chew on the remote (if only mom and dad would let me do it!!) and lounge after Alyssa's sippy cup and goldfish crackers. Yesterday he just would not leave Alyssa alone while she was drinking from her sippy cup, so my mother-in-law put some juice in a sippy cup for him and he actually drank quite a bit out of the sippy cup!! My little man is just growing up too fast...sniff, sniff! Good thing we have already gone and put the baby locks on the cabinets because I think this little guy is going to become quite a handful very soon!

Yea for Turkey Day!

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I am very excited since it is one of my most favorite days of the year. My family LOVES food and so it's no wonder that it is such a special day for me. We love food but most of all we love spending time with our family while eating the wonderful food. This year we are going to my brother's house again and I am so excited to eat their BBQ'd turkey...yummmy:) This year has been interesting and full of new things: jobs, babies, and experiences. I'd like to look at my top 5 things I am thankful for:

1. Health
I am especially thankful that I have thus far been very healthy despite my sleep deprivation and all the sniffles and bugs that are going around. It truly is amazing, but it could also be the result of my almost OCD need to wash and sanitize my hands throughout the day...hmmmm! My children are healthy and happy...truly, what more could a parent hope for?!
2. My family
This year Diego came into our lives. He is the most special, delightful, fantastic little boy I could have ever hoped to have for a son. Our family has adjusted to a new baby and I am so thankful that Alyssa has done fabulous with him. She loves him so much and he ADORES her. I feel very blessed to be the mother to these two special people.
I am thankful everyday that I have a great friend as my husband who is sharing this adventure with me.
3. Jobs
I feel so blessed to have found a job when I did (one day before Diego was born). Right after I was hired at CalPERS, they could no longer look at non-state candidates. So I truly got in at the right time. I love my job! I cannot say it enough....I Love it, I love it, I love it!!
I am truly thankful that Rene's job has such fabulous health/dental/vision benefits...we didn't pay a dime for Diego to be born...whoot-whoot:)
4. Home
I am thankful everyday for the lovely home that we bought coming up on two years ago. I am especially thankful that we got such a great deal on it and don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it;)
5. Friends and Pets
I am thankful for my dear friends, whom I never talk to enough but are always there for support. And, despite his quirks, I love our dog Larry. He really is a good dog that loves the kids and is a very sweet-hearted pup!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Updating

Hi everyone. I know, I know it's been forever! And I'm sorry:) The kids are doing great and growing up fast. Diego is getting very close to crawling already. He will get up on all fours and rock back and forth as he tries to move foward. He's not there just yet but it won't be too much longer. He currently says dada and loves babbling to his sister whom he ADORES!! Alyssa loves being a big sister but she is not too fond of sharing toys...even if she doesn't remember playing with them...they are hers. So I have concluded that poor Diego will need to get his own toys and books so that Alyssa cannot lay claim to them.

Ok, I will post more some other time and will try to put up pictures more frequently. It's hard considering that I do this from work and my picts are on the computer at home...hmmm, I will figure it out:)

Updates

Looks like it's time for another update.

Diego is still getting sooo big! He even laughed for the first time the other day (where is time going?). He is definately getting much better at sleeping during the night; he is now going 6-7 hour stretches...yay!! He is much more interested in what everyone around him is doing. He would rather be up and about checking out what you are doing versus hanging out in his "kick and play" chair. He will scope you out from afar and follow you as you walk away. He loves vocalizing and I just love his squeals of delight and razzing. Looks like we may have another chatter box in the family:)

Alyssa is doing great! She is very excited about her upcoming birthday and constantly talks about birthday cakes, party hats and balloons...I guess she is putting her request in early! She is also officially out of diapers now and doing great with it...AMEN!!! We were soooo tired of changing her diapers!

Rene took a week and a half off from work (the rest of his "manternity" leave) to finish the back yard. He put in lots of rocks around the border of the grass, plus flowers and shrubs. It looks great and he lucked out that the weather was in the 80's the whole time instead of the 100's like it is now.

Well, back to work for me. Hope all is well!
