Summer with the Gomms
This is our first experience with blogging. Our daughters have been encouraging us to start a blog so here it goes!

So far this summer has been a great adventure. It started off with our trip to Wyoming to open the cabin. We had been forewarned that the chimney had been sheared off by the winter snow. We had to do a temporary fix until we order a new chimney. We haven’t gotten to it yet because of life’s complications. Check out the pictures.
In the month of June we celebrated Byron’s first Birthday. Boy was he a happy kid. We also went to Michigan to visit Trish and her family. We went out to tend Sadee
and Whitney while Trish went with the other girls to camp. We had planned a trip to up state Michigan to visit Mackinac (Mackinaw) Island and some of the famous lighthouses on the shores of Lake Michigan. Mackinac Island is where they filmed the move, Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour, Diane’s favorite movie.
Well Bryce wasn't feeling so well. He thought he might be having gallbladder problems, But we left on the trip anyway. When we got to Trish’s he tried a gallbladder cleanse to to make himself feel better. We took off the next day but he
really wasn't feeling well. We had dinner in Mackinaw City and had fun in a gift shop with the girls. We bought a great big bucket of caramel popcorn to enjoy on the trip.
We planned to go to the Island the next day but it was raining so we decided to go up to Canada to the locks. We made it just in time to board and had a good time watching the water levels change as we went from one lake to another. While on the boat, Bryce got sick again, but he was able to tough it out. We hurried and left Canada and started back to Mackinaw City. Bryce continued to be in pain but was driving back when he had to pull over. I think you can
guess what happened on the side of the road. He returned to the car and insisted on driving. As he was driving across the Mackinaw Bridge he became sick again and had to use our $10.00 caramel corn for his bucket. Driving, changing lanes, and throwing up and they say women on their cell phones are bad. Poor guy!
Bryce finally consented to go to the hospital. Needless to say by then his conditions was very bad. They had to transfer him by ambulance to a different hospital in Petoskey. His pancreas was very bad along with his gallbladder and liver.
They had to remove the gallbladder and he spent the next four days in the hospital and four more days trying to travel back to Salt Lake. This is definitely a trip to remember
The moral of the story is—Call Dr. Shane Lewis for medical advice in the future!
In July Bryce was still recuperating from his surgery. So Diane went to Bountiful for a BBQ with her brother Rick and some of the family. They had a good time at the fireworks!

Dixie and Shane brought their family out to Salt Lake for a

three week vacation. While they were here Eric blessed Byron. The next day they took off to Lake Powell for the week. We spent time with them at the Gateway fountains, Cherry Hill Water Park, and the Living Plant Aquarium. They also had a good time in the backyard playing on the waterslide with their cousins. On the 24th of July Dixie ran the 10K. She is a great example of fitness. She and Trish are planning a family run next year to honor Hunter. So get yourself in shape and join us.
Diane had a chance to go see American Idols on Tour with Dixie and her sisters. They had a great time acting like teenie—boppers.
July 13th was Hunter’s eighth birthday and we had a pleasant afternoon remembering her and singing “Happy Birthday” at the cemetery.
