matching

For Christmas Josh bought me sunglasses to match his (and another color option for himself). This might have been born more out of the fact that he didn't like when when I wore my super attractive mountain-biking sunglasses while not mountain biking, but I'm cool with it. So now we're twins. Kind of awkward/kind of awesome.

I used to think my face couldn't wear sunglasses, because they all seemed to hit my eyelashes, so for many years I boycotted them. Fears of macular degeneration have caused me to reconsider.

placerville, ca

Here are some more photos from our day trip to Placerville, CA.

I suppose there were plenty of things I could have documented like pop art, vintage clothing, bookstores, candy, candy, and more candy, but for some reason I went with gas masks and knives.

apple hill

On one of our days in Tahoe we took a mini road trip through windy mountains to Placerville, California.

The outskirts of Placerville are filled with orchards and vineyards, and we stopped at Boa Vista Orchards for some apple pie. Josh came here while on a motorcycle trip with his best friend a few years back and swore it was the best pie he'd ever had.

We each ate a slice of classic apple pie and then bought a whole sour cream apple pie to take with us. Healthy.

the pal on our deck

In Tahoe we had this little glacier buddy out on our balcony. I liked him.

honeymooning at tahoe

I clicked back and forth between the two photos on my camera and laughed for three minutes at Josh chewing his gum. Thanks, random lady on our boat who accidentally took multiple photos. Perfect animated gif material.

Lake Tahoe is so pretty!

wedding centerpieces

Making (and putting off making) these was the bane of my existence for a while. And although I never want to fold a paper airplane again, when I was completely finished I was pretty proud of myself.

our wedding movie

Here is the little movie Matt and Julie of creative studio, Tiger in a Jar, made for us! Julie and Matt helped us so much on our wedding day, and we are still so thankful!

Josh and I are so impressed with our movie, because it captures so many things we love and so many good things between us. I saw it for the first time at the reception, and I loved every second of it. The little movie uses a song that is one of our favorites, focuses on all of our travels and adventures, includes a stop motion animated gif(!), finishes with our engagement day, future dream of traveling in a teardrop trailer, and a little card that I made for Josh back in July. There are so many details in this video that I'm still discovering each time I watch it.

See Julie's post about it on their little movie blog here.

I won't have any official yan photos for a while, so until then I'll have to rely on the photos my friends posted on Facebook. Anyone have more photos to send me?

What a good wedding day! I only stressed out for a fifteen minute period of time, which Josh and I were both relieved about, since his biggest fear of the day was that I would get super stressed out. I loved seeing so many friends who I don't see very often, and I missed the ones who couldn't be there. We have such amazing friends and family who helped us with so many things so that we could enjoy our palindrome (1.14.11) wedding day.

if i knew you were comin' i'd have baked a cake

Matt and Julie (a formidable creative duo) made another d.i.y. video, this time for Valentine's Day. I am in love with it and was entranced during the whole thing, as I often am by their movies. Now I want to eat those cheery cupcakes.

They're making a little movie for Josh and me, and I'm so, so excited to see the finished piece.

packaging

Josh wrapped my Christmas packages with brown paper
and topped them with these lovely letterpress tags. They were so pretty.

roommates

I'll certainly miss this chipper face greeting me in the mornings.
I'll miss our early morning or late night chats and our pep talks.

Image
I've gone through 39 roommates (one honorary, one in the garage, and three roommates' boyfriends)
one repeating three times, three others (including the one pictured above) repeating twice, ten in NYC (in one year),
two in China, including siblings, and excluding my mother from her womb.

But I really can't wait for my 40th roommate. (See below, obviously, for a Christmas morning photo of him.)

a sad but somewhat tender chat

J: Umm please never go off an overpass and get smushed like this: http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=13875926

This is where I now post more photo details of his ring(s) than I ever did or will of my own.
(Not because I don't absolutely love mine, but because I hate when girls are flashy about that.)

does using the word "try" still qualify it as a resolution?

I hereby declare that in 2011 I will try to hang up my clothes in the closet as soon as I take them off instead of putting them on the floor/bed/chair/etc.

Ashley will be so proud.

The end.
