How I Met My Honey

ImageI stumbled upon this today in random, and at the spur of the moment decided to participate. Today, we are supposed to post stories about how we met our darling husbands - obviously. :) Check out Ramblings by Reba for more stories.

So... here is our story, some parts I have mentioned before, and since most of my readers are family members, you already know this, but here we go...

I met Ray when we were kids. We lived in a VERY small town, and his family moved there when we were in 5th grade. He was in my class. That was it for a long time, since we were like 10 years old.

Our last names started with the same letter, so every year, we always had neighboring lockers at school. Ray turned out to be the funny guy - everyone liked him, he was friends with everyone. I did have a crush on him our freshman year, but then we both ended up dating other people over the years.

Fast forward to the end of our senior year - Senior prom was 3 weeks away, and I had no date, which in my tiny school (seriously, we had 69 graduating seniors in our class) that was unacceptable. The problem was, everyone else already had a date, because prom was only 3 weeks away. Ray was the only guy we knew who had no date, since he and his former girlfriend had split a while back, although guess that they were still kind of together. Anyways, my friend Mandy said to him one day at our lockers that he needed to take me to prom. And that was it. Later that afternoon, he asked me if I seriously wanted him to take me to prom, which I did, and he was SO sweet about it.

Over the next couple of weeks, I developed a crazy mad crush on him, simply because he was really excited about going to prom with me. We talked a lot about our prom plans, where we were going to dinner, and it was so much fun - we were already friends and had known each other for years, so it was easy.

Really, the rest is history. Prom was AWESOME, and after that we were inseparable. We graduated from high school, got engaged, got married at age 20 while going to college, and here we are 10 years later - and all is GREAT! The end. :)

Florida Weekend Recap

Whew! It has been a crazy busy weekend - we actually ended up staying an extra day in Florida, so we just got back tonight. We are all absolutely exhausted, and it was a LONG drive back, and we are all happy to be back home and back to our routine. We had a fun time, I got to spend a lot of time with my family, and of course celebrated my sister's college graduation. We walked around St. Augustine and went swimming at the hotel pool. Sunday morning, we went out for breakfast, then we all drove down to visit my grandparents for a day, who I don't see very often anymore, especially since they don't get around as well as they used to. It was a busy, but good weekend away. Of course, I have lots of pictures!

ImagePooky, on Great Grandpa and Grandma's golf cart. Of course, we had to go for a ride, and I drove... very scary. I almost tipped it over going around a curve, then we almost got lost. anyway...

My little sister at her graduation! I could not get a good shot of her - everything I took was very, very fuzzy. This was the best one. Got to love my fantastic photography skills! Anyone else ready for another Bad Photo Day???

Weekend in Florida!

Well, we are getting ready to leave for a long weekend in Florida to see my little sister graduate from college. I am so excited for this trip for three reasons. One, Ray just got done with a huge project at work which has had him working a ton of overtime for the past couple of months, and we are looking forward to spending some time with him. Two, I am so proud of my sister! It took a while, but she is finally graduating with her teaching degree from Flager College! And three - it's Florida! Looking forward to walking around the shops, maybe a beach visit, and eating some fabulous ice cream. YUM.
So, we will be gone until Sunday night - I will have lots of pictures and stories I am sure.

Have a great weekend!

P.S. Happy birthday Stevie! We love you and miss you bunches!Image

Bloggy Award!

YAY! I wanted to thank Beth from Around the Funny Farm for giving me this cute award. :)Image
Thanks Beth!

And, I would like to pass it on..... so I am awarding PhotoMommy, Kate, and Kelli @ Gohn Crazy. I love you guys!!

Miss Smiley Face

Over the weekend, Emmy found a red marker in the garage. Despite the fact that she knows better than to draw on her skin, she did it anyway. She got into trouble. But it was funny to me - because instead of just scribbling all over her body, she chose to draw smiley faces everywhere - 1 on each kneecap, up ad down her arms, on both palms, bottoms of her feet, and even one on her big toe. All smiley faces. I laughed when she wasn't looking. :)Image

Then this morning, I took a shower while Emmy and Pook were watching cartoons. When I came out, Emmy was standing at the kitchen sink, washing off an apple. There was a tub of margarine sitting next to her, which she had spread all over the apple.
When I asked her what she was doing, she said "Washing the butter off my apple." I asked her why there was butter on her apple, she replied, "Because I knew that I wasn't allowed to use the apple peeler."

Can't argue with that logic! Happy Monday!

Jon and Kate!

Image
I am a big fan of the show Jon and Kate Plus 8, on TLC. And even though Ray wouldn't admit it, he really likes the show too, and we always record the show and watch it together. If you aren't familiar with the show, the Gosselin family has 8 kids, 7 year old twins, and 3 year old sextuplets. Obviously they have a crazy busy life, and Ray and I enjoy watching, knowing that our life is a piece of cake compared to what they do every day!
Anyway, I was checking out their website a few months back and noticed that they were going to be speaking at a church about 2 hours from here, and it was open to the public. So, I got tickets for Ray and me - and that is where we went today! It was a fun time - I am a dork and was excited to see these two people who I watch on TV all the time in real life. They have an amazing story and they talked about a lot of things that aren't in the show. They are a strong Christian family and they talked about their faith and how much God has blessed them over the years - and they have had some very tough times! It was a good time for Ray and me, not only because we got to see Jon and Kate in person, but we had a few hours to ourselves!
My only complaint for the day was that the church was not very big, and of course it was very crowded, making it difficult to see. So although I did see Jon and Kate in person, we were pretty far back. And we opted not to wait in the LONG line after the event to see them up close or get an autograph. I am a fan, but not a crazy fan - some of the people there were hilarious! During the question and answer time at the end, a few women stood up and said really intelligent things like "Hi Kate! I am a huge fan!" and "I am crazy about hand sanitizer too, so I am just like you!". Um, yeah. Good to know there are bigger dorks than me out there. :)

On a different note, I have decided to delete my post I wrote a couple of days ago about CrazyMom and what names our kids call adults. A lot of people who know me in real life read my blog, and although CrazyMom drives me bananas, I don't want her to read that post. I do appreciate all of your comments, and I do plan on sticking with "Miss Missy", not "Mrs. Tunu" for now!

Pook's 1st Haircut

We took Pook last night his very first haircut. His hair really wasn't too bad, but it was getting a bit shaggy in the back. Here is a really bad "before" shot.

The beginnings of a great mullet

Pooky was not too sure about this. Daddy held him, and we had to bribe him with a DumDum.

All done! He still wasn't too happy, but he looks so handsome!

Cloth Diapering Take 1

OK, well after doing much research and shopping, and with lots of help from my friend Kelli @ Gohn Crazy, I am ready to officially begin my cloth diapering adventure. We attempted it a few times over the last couple of weeks and I was having trouble with the covers getting very wet and soaking through - so I am trying a few new things, including some new covers that I just got in the mail today. Wish me luck - here we go!

Crazy Weekend

Well, I survived the garage sale, and a very busy weekend, and I am miserably sick. What I thought were allergies turned into a nasty cold. I completely lost my voice for 2 days, I am totally congested, and now I have pink eye. Fun stuff.
The garage sale went well - it was nice to get rid of some stuff, and we made a little money. A pain in the neck to get ready for, but totally worth it.
I will post some good stuff this week, I promise!

Also, today is my dad's birthday. Happy birthday Dad! I can never thank you enough for all that you have done for me over the years and I hope that you know how truly grateful I am. I love spending time with you and Mom, and I love watching you interact with your grandkids - you are adored by them. We all love you lots!Image

Feeling So Blah

Yuck. I am super busy this week, trying to run a million errands, getting stuff ready for our neighborhood garage sale this weekend (I have a ton of stuff to sell), and my allergies are kicking my butt.
And it is Wordless Wednesday, and I've got nothin.

I probably won't post anything until this crazy weekend is over, so have a great rest of the week/weekend.

I also wanted to thank you all for your input on the sippy cup issue. I have decided that using the occasional sippy cup is not too terrible, and it is not worth fighting with Emmy and making a big issue over it. We do have a couple of those cups with straws, so I will probably let her use those for when we go out, and can use a big girl cup at meals. Thank you!

Sippy Cups

I love sippy cups. I love how I can hand one to my kids, and they bounce away into the living room and I am not worried about spills and messes. I love how I can throw one into my diaper bag when we go out. Easy, everyone is happy.

Emmy will be 4 this summer. In my opinion, too old for sippy cups. While I forced her to start using a "big-girl cup" a few months ago, she still asks to use "a cup with a top on it" every single day. And every single day we have to have the conversation about how sippy cups are for babies, and she is a big girl, blah, blah. She does still get one for her water or milk at night time.
But, I do really, really miss just being able to hand her the sippy cup during the day and we all go about our merry way. Now, I won't let her leave the kitchen with her drink, which she doesn't like, and she does spill her drink on occasion, causing a sticky floor and countertops for me to clean.

I want to know what you think. Is age 3 1/2 too old for a sippy cup? And I want to add that she does not sit there and suck on the cup all day. She drinks her juice/water/milk, and puts the cup away. My day is just so much easier with the sippy cup. Should I not worry about it and give it to her anyway? Or stick with my plan to keep her on the "big girl cup"? I am curious as to what you all think.....

I Heart NKOTB

It has been brought to my attention that New Kids on the Block are making a comeback. With a new album and concert tour.
I am happy.
I LOVED them as a kid. Maybe I still do. I have been a closet fan for years. Although I did just show you all a few of my NKOTB items I still have.

I have nothing else to write this weekend. Just wanted to share the happy new if you hadn't already heard. :)

Makes me want to dig out my old cassette tapes and listen to them. Maybe I will.

Channeling her Inner Michael Jackson

Image

Emmy has been wearing 1 pink glove for the last 2 weeks. All the time. When she eats. When she plays. When she draws. When we went to the grocery store. And the playgroup for play group.

I don't get it. She only wants one on. She claims that it keeps her hand warm. Hmmm... well, she may look a little goofy, but if that is what she wants to do....
She is a funny kid.
