Off “A” street

23 days til it’s officially summer, but you would never know it hasn’t been here all along.
Seemingly endless sunshine.
Salty fingers, salty lips, salty everything.
Hair whipped by the ocean.
Tanning oil + sand = regular exfoliation.
Gritty, grilled cheese-burgers.
The ocean threatening to take my bottoms & my sunglasses with every rolling wave.
Stepping on something slippery & fast. Twice.
Legs that feel weak from fighting against waves.
Boogie-board riding.
Football throwing.
People-watching.
Magazine reading.
Five-hours enjoyed as a stereotypical Floridian.
How to love

Heard this song for the first time on my way to work today & if you have strong feelings about Young Weezy, I would refrain from clicking on the link.
It inspired a whole chain of thoughts most likely unrelated to the words coming from the mouth of a certain gangstah.
Here was my main thought: Just because a person is married, or even just because a person falls in love, doesn’t mean they know how to love. Is this obvious? It really wasn’t obvious to me until about 1:42 this afternoon.
I can promise you that Zane & I did not have the tools we needed to get where we are today on the day that we both said “i do.”
All I can say is, I am so so so thankful that we have had patience with one another over these last (almost 6-years of togetherness!) as we find our way with love, and try to grasp it’s truest meaning.
I pray that we’ll always be willing for trial & error, and that we never give up learning how to love, and always feel privileged to give our time to growth.

Classic

All too often this is my truth.
I’ve been trying to do little things to make my days more than just sleeping & working.
Waking up early enough to cook breakfast. Taking a walk, exploring our new neighborhood. Reading a few pages in a book. Writing an overdue note to a friend. Stopping by the post office. Talking on the phone to a friend.
I’m learning that, sometimes, the littlest efforts in things i’m sometimes guilty of putting off for another day can lend to a much more fulfilling t o d a y.
Day-dreams

So Zane & I went to see this imax about misplaced orangutans & elephants. It sparked this whole conversation of going to places like Borneo someday & partaking in an experience at an organization like the two in this film.
It’s just a fantasy, but I do love that Zane has the same wanderlust as I do, this desire to see the unfamiliar parts of the world. I very much hope that globe-trotting is in our future.
Will trade blood & sweat for culture.
