Bliss is 2!

Bliss turned 2 last Thursday; so, this weekend we had a very small birthday party for her at Aunt Haley and Uncle Ben's house in Fort Worth. . .

It meant so much that Brinley, Brylen, Cooper, and Madelyn could come!

Bliss's favorite present, which she did not really enjoy sharing. Gonna need to work on that this year :)

We started out the day with a trip to Daddy's work here in Fort Worth. He is is at Cook's Children's Hospital which is such a cute hospital! They had a Build-A-Bear there, and Bliss chose, of course, a horse. Her favorite part was giving him a bath, and could care less about the clothes. Instead, she opted for a saddle, and named him , "Kipps."

I know these are in random order, but this is her cake! I was so proud--my first experience with home-made fondant--possibly my last, but fun just the same :) It was a little touch and go if the cake would make it to the party, but I was very happy with the outcome!

23 months

As every parent, I am sooooo proud of Bliss and think she is absolutely brilliant. I LOVE watching her learn and grow. So amazing how smart little people are! She is 23 months old now and I wanted to document some things she is doing that I don't want to forget while I'm on a roll with the blogging thing ;0)

-loves horses more than anything, but likes cows and Minnie mouse, too, if horses aren't around
-loves cottage cheese, yogurt, and bananas
-sings Jesus loves me and twinkle, twinkle, little star in her own, sweet way
-uses the word, "too," correctly
- Knows her primary colors
-Counts to 10
-Knows her letter sounds through G, with some extras like S and N
-Can pretty much sing her ABC's
- speaks in 3 word sentences
-loves to cuddle first thing in the morning
-loves to "swim in the water" and "swing"

LOVE this girl! Hopefully Easter pics to come soon!

Bliss 22 months and tractors are awesome!

I realize its been almost 6 months since my last post, but I was really inspired looking at other people's blogs today and I just have to share some of Bliss's latest pics. Last month we went to visit my grandparents at Anderson again. This time, Clint came and the blue bonnets were out making for some great photo ops:

Miss independent was done with photos and was ready to go explore on her own!

The night we got there after Bliss went down, Clint and I left Bliss at the house with my grandparents and went spotlighting/hog hunting in my car. After about 10 minutes I abruptly got my car stuck in the mud. "Classic," as Clint would say. He tried to get the car out, and just when we felt the lerch of freedom, BOOM, stuck deeper than ever just 2 feet farther from where we were before. Defeated, we left my car in the ditch, almost turned on its side it was so deep in the mud, and made the trudge back to the house. Believing my car would rust in the ditch, I was more than concerned of how we would get back to Ft. Worth....

BLISS TO THE RESCUE! The next morning, I cannot tell you how proud Bliss was to help daddy pull the car out of the ditch with the tractor. It's been almost a month and she still loves to look at this picture and talk about "mommy car stuck," and "Bliss ride tractor."

More Great Times with Great Grandparents

In early September, Bliss and I took a trip up to Amarillo to see my other set of grandparents and Aunt Kenna.

Bliss 16 months with Great-Pawpaw Tye Godwin, 83

If you can't tell . . .Bliss really loves her great grandparents. I think she knows where to go to get especially spoiled.

Here she is cuddling up and taking a nap on Great-Grandma "Ice" (aka, Grandma Iris)

She really wanted to play with Pawpaw rather than sit still for these pictures. She was making all kinds of faces, but I just couldn't seem to catch her still. Pawpaw Tye is still really active for his age, and Bliss enjoys keeping him on his toes :)

Aunt Kenna was awesome and watched Bliss for most of the day so I could get some continuing education. Aunt Kenna is so good with little ones. Thanks so much Aunt Kenna for the great help!

Time marches on . . . one step at a time

My Papa Jim Schwede, 87 years old, and Bliss, 16 monthsImage

Last month, Bliss and I drove with our Aunt "B" down to Anderson, TX, where my grandparents still live on the original family farm first settled 120 years ago when my grandmother's familiy came over from Germany.

Although Bliss has hung out with my grandparents before, it had been a few months. I was worried she would be a little slow to warm up to them again, or maybe scared, but she took right to my Papa Jim. I think the old saying is true; children are great judges of character.

He took her to feed the cows, which she thought was awesome. She hasn't stopped "mooing" since. She also thought it was awesome that she got to sit shotgun instead of in the car seat; she held onto his finger on the ride out . . . too cute.

My grandma, Lorene Schwede, used to play the organ at church. She actually is blind now (although you'd never know it), but she can still play herself pretty much any hymn you request. Bliss thought it was fun to "help" her on the piano, and would spin "around and around" while she played. It was such a fun weekend getting to see them!

A few more of my favorites . . .

And, last but certainly not least, Bliss with Papa Jim and Aunt "B." Thanks so much for letting us get a ride with you, Aunt "B," we could not have made the trip without you!

Sidenote: My grandmother thought I should name the first picture at the top, Time marches on one step at a time, and mail it off somewhere. I wasn't sure exactly how to name a picture and send it off somewhere, so instead, I named the blog post that. Thanks for the suggestion Grandma.

All dressed up!

As I am trying to update my blog after several weeks of neglect, I just had to jump ahead to this past Sundays pictures I took before church . I was getting so frustrated because for whatever reason, after FOUR attempts at uploading the pictures from Bliss's party, they still aren't working, and then I came across these pictures .... and I couldn't help but grin!
