More Great Times with Great Grandparents

In early September, Bliss and I took a trip up to Amarillo to see my other set of grandparents and Aunt Kenna.

Bliss 16 months with Great-Pawpaw Tye Godwin, 83

If you can't tell . . .Bliss really loves her great grandparents. I think she knows where to go to get especially spoiled.

Here she is cuddling up and taking a nap on Great-Grandma "Ice" (aka, Grandma Iris)

She really wanted to play with Pawpaw rather than sit still for these pictures. She was making all kinds of faces, but I just couldn't seem to catch her still. Pawpaw Tye is still really active for his age, and Bliss enjoys keeping him on his toes :)

Aunt Kenna was awesome and watched Bliss for most of the day so I could get some continuing education. Aunt Kenna is so good with little ones. Thanks so much Aunt Kenna for the great help!

Time marches on . . . one step at a time

My Papa Jim Schwede, 87 years old, and Bliss, 16 monthsImage

Last month, Bliss and I drove with our Aunt "B" down to Anderson, TX, where my grandparents still live on the original family farm first settled 120 years ago when my grandmother's familiy came over from Germany.

Image

Although Bliss has hung out with my grandparents before, it had been a few months. I was worried she would be a little slow to warm up to them again, or maybe scared, but she took right to my Papa Jim. I think the old saying is true; children are great judges of character.

Image
He took her to feed the cows, which she thought was awesome. She hasn't stopped "mooing" since. She also thought it was awesome that she got to sit shotgun instead of in the car seat; she held onto his finger on the ride out . . . too cute.

My grandma, Lorene Schwede, used to play the organ at church. She actually is blind now (although you'd never know it), but she can still play herself pretty much any hymn you request. Bliss thought it was fun to "help" her on the piano, and would spin "around and around" while she played. It was such a fun weekend getting to see them!

A few more of my favorites . . .

And, last but certainly not least, Bliss with Papa Jim and Aunt "B." Thanks so much for letting us get a ride with you, Aunt "B," we could not have made the trip without you!

Sidenote: My grandmother thought I should name the first picture at the top, Time marches on one step at a time, and mail it off somewhere. I wasn't sure exactly how to name a picture and send it off somewhere, so instead, I named the blog post that. Thanks for the suggestion Grandma.

All dressed up!

As I am trying to update my blog after several weeks of neglect, I just had to jump ahead to this past Sundays pictures I took before church . I was getting so frustrated because for whatever reason, after FOUR attempts at uploading the pictures from Bliss's party, they still aren't working, and then I came across these pictures .... and I couldn't help but grin!

She loves to make this face now! I don't know where she got it from, but I think it's hilarious.

Please compare the above picture and below . . . do you see the resemblence between Tatum and her daddy?

She found one Easter egg and she was quite proud of herself!

Bliss's friend, Jackson, from stroller fit, had his birthday party on Holy Saturday. To celebrate, they had an Easter Egg hunt. It was such a cute 1st birthday party!

Bliss took Bodie's Eater Egg basket and quickly made it her own. Bodie has 2 older brothers and didn't seem to mind too much.

Bodie, Jackson, and Bliss. They're all within about 2 weeks of eachother, but they come in all different, huggable sizes!

Her first Easter Egg hunt was in Sequin. We celebrated Easter there a week early.

More of March

Image

Since Memaw was off of work for spring break, she came and watched Bliss for 2 days in Lubbock while my mom took a little Spring Break of her own to visit Haley and Ben. I love this pic of both of them.

Image
Bliss had a great time having Memaw all to herself. She took her to the park by our house, and let her play on her little playset in the backyard in her swimsuit. Don't you just want to squeeze those little legs?????!!!!

Image
While Clint and I went to a Couple's Shower in Austin for our friends Courtney and Benton, Bliss hung out with her cousins. Making cookies with Memaw and Brylen (She is actually completely infatuated with a cow bell that hangs from Pops and Memaw's ceiling in the kitchen, as you can see here0.

Image
We also went to the ranch with my family. For some reason, I didn't get a great pic of Bliss, but I love this picture of Haley, Tatum, and Piper on the 4-wheeler.

Baby Showers and Tea Parties

Our sweet friends from college, Brooke and Erick are expecting their first baby, HUDSON!!! We are so excited for them and think that Hudson is a pretty lucky little guy already to have such neat parents! Brooke had a shower this month in Austin, and Bliss and I got to go!

Image

I had a really cute outfit for Bliss picked out . . . which she shortly blew out after we got there. :)
Luckily, the shower was at Erin and Addison's house! We have been so excited to meet Addison. Erin and i go way back, and I just love her! Interestingly, in college, people used think Erin and I resembled each other. I think our bald, bright blue-eye girls are continuing that on for us.  Addison is just 3 weeks younger than Bliss, and she graciously lent us an outfit. Thanks Addison!
Image

We were also super excited to meet Layla Jane! I felt like I knew Layla before I ever met her. She is very warm and sweet like her mommy. She was good with Bliss and clearly going to be a great big sister soon! Baby Ellis actually has the same due date as Bliss had (5/20), although, luckily, we didn't quite make it :) . After the shower, we hung around just to meet up with them. Lauren is another great Lubbockite turned Austinite. Our families have been close for a long time. We used to be in the same Indian Princess tribe (Chaktaw) with our dads and loved to meet up to eat Mexican food. Maybe next Austin visit, we can start that tradition up with our kiddos!

Back in Lubbock, Bliss joined Tatum for a tea party.
