More Great Times with Great Grandparents

In early September, Bliss and I took a trip up to Amarillo to see my other set of grandparents and Aunt Kenna.

Bliss 16 months with Great-Pawpaw Tye Godwin, 83

If you can't tell . . .Bliss really loves her great grandparents. I think she knows where to go to get especially spoiled.

Here she is cuddling up and taking a nap on Great-Grandma "Ice" (aka, Grandma Iris)

She really wanted to play with Pawpaw rather than sit still for these pictures. She was making all kinds of faces, but I just couldn't seem to catch her still. Pawpaw Tye is still really active for his age, and Bliss enjoys keeping him on his toes :)

Aunt Kenna was awesome and watched Bliss for most of the day so I could get some continuing education. Aunt Kenna is so good with little ones. Thanks so much Aunt Kenna for the great help!

Time marches on . . . one step at a time

My Papa Jim Schwede, 87 years old, and Bliss, 16 monthsImage

Last month, Bliss and I drove with our Aunt "B" down to Anderson, TX, where my grandparents still live on the original family farm first settled 120 years ago when my grandmother's familiy came over from Germany.

Although Bliss has hung out with my grandparents before, it had been a few months. I was worried she would be a little slow to warm up to them again, or maybe scared, but she took right to my Papa Jim. I think the old saying is true; children are great judges of character.

He took her to feed the cows, which she thought was awesome. She hasn't stopped "mooing" since. She also thought it was awesome that she got to sit shotgun instead of in the car seat; she held onto his finger on the ride out . . . too cute.

My grandma, Lorene Schwede, used to play the organ at church. She actually is blind now (although you'd never know it), but she can still play herself pretty much any hymn you request. Bliss thought it was fun to "help" her on the piano, and would spin "around and around" while she played. It was such a fun weekend getting to see them!

A few more of my favorites . . .

And, last but certainly not least, Bliss with Papa Jim and Aunt "B." Thanks so much for letting us get a ride with you, Aunt "B," we could not have made the trip without you!

Sidenote: My grandmother thought I should name the first picture at the top, Time marches on one step at a time, and mail it off somewhere. I wasn't sure exactly how to name a picture and send it off somewhere, so instead, I named the blog post that. Thanks for the suggestion Grandma.
