Tanner's 1st Tooth
I have a lot to catch up on this blog but decided to just start where we are at now. I have found it very fun to be able to look back and see what Carter was doing or developing at certain ages compared to Tanner. So I really need to get going if I'm going to be able to have record of Tanner's developments! Teeth for example, Carter was 8 months for his first tooth and Tanner is almost 7 months. This morning when he was smiling I thought I saw a tooth starting on the bottom. I could not feel anything but when I finally was able to get a good look sure enough there is a little tooth coming in on the bottom, right center. Our baby is getting way too big!

Father's Day Interview with Carter
Lance gets to spend the day working. I was suppose to be working all day too but got to leave on-call around lunch because we discharged most of our patients. Yeah! I made it to church before the Primary kids sang. Carter actually sang many of the words to the two father's day songs they sang. We have been practicing them for the past couple weeks. Carter and I will be going to pick Lance up from work later tonight, since our truck died a couple days ago. Not so fun only have one vehicle with both of us working all weekend. Hopefully we will have time to be able to take it in Monday or Tuesday so we can see what's going on.
I'm going to try and get Carter to sing his daddy songs for Lance tonight when we pick him up. He's actually singing one of them at this very moment while he's playing with toys. So cute!!
Here is the interview I did with Carter about Lance. Carter gave him a card he helped make this morning. We will have to show Lance the interview results tonight.

Mother's Day Interview
So little by little I'm really going to try to get back to blogging more.
One of my cousins does interviews on Mother's Day and Father's Day with their kids. It was always something I wanted to do and Carter is old enough now to play along. He was into one word answers most of the time, that often didn't make sense. Guess that adds to the cuteness.

How old is your mom? 8 (He's been a bit obsessed with the age 8 due to one of his cousins turning eight and being baptized.)
How tall is mom? Big
What makes mom happy? Grow
What is mom really good at? Nice
What is mom’s favorite food? Apples
If mom were a cartoon character, who would she be? A Mommy

What is something that Mom always says to you? Dump trucks, mixers, and loaders (he was playing with them
at the time)
The best thing she cooks is... Corn

I'm so grateful for our sweet imaginative boy! I'm thinking most anyone who reads this is already aware but we are expecting a baby boy the beginning of August and couldn't be happier!

New Famliy Pictures
I know I haven't updated this blog in a long time. I'm really going to try and get some of the fun pictures from our summer adventures up. In the mean time here are a few of our family pictures we just got done. We really appreciate our awesome friend Cindy for taking them for us!
Not hard at all to tell these two are related!

Prophet Monson
During conference weekend Carter learned about apostles and prophets. He also learned to recognize "Prophet Monson" as he calls him. We have also discovered that men in suits that he doesn't recognize in pictures are also sometimes referred to as Prophet Monson. Another funny story, Lance asked Carter to rub his feet. Carter excitedly agree (which we were a little surprised by) and went and climbed on Lance's leg and said "ride daddy feet." He thought he was going to get a ride on daddy's feet. That made his enthusiasm more understandable.

First Prayer
Carter said his first prayer tonight at dinner. He has said "amen" for a long time now but never actually repeated some of the other words we would say. We asked if he wanted to say it and when he said yes we asked who he wanted to help him. It was pretty cute hearing him say a little prayer.

First Snowballs and Snowman
We finally got some snow so I had to take Carter out in it. He had an absolute fit getting all his snow stuff on. He likes wearing coats but that's all when it comes to warm clothing. He didn't want to put on his boats, hats, snow pants, or gloves. I literally had to hold him down and force him into them. Maybe I'm a mean mom but I knew he'd have fun once we were outside. I was right, once we got outside he had an absolute blast and didn't want to come in. I showed him how to make snowballs and that's what he spent most his time doing. I also made a little snowman for Carter.
Carter kept saying he was stepping on the snow. When it was time to go in, Carter didn't want to come in. I asked him if he wanted to go in and have some hot chocolate. He said yes (even though he didn't know what it was) and in we went and took off all our snow stuff. Carter kept saying he wanted "hot chocit." After I made it and tried to give him some, he took one look and said "no hot chocit." Apparently it sounded better than it looked. I enjoyed the hot chocolate and he just had some milk.
The next morning he enjoyed watching more snow falling from the front window.

Weekend Trip
This past weekend we were able to spend the long weekend with family. We first went down to Salt Lake City and met up with my brother and family who were in town. It was so fun to get to see them all and spend a few hours with them. We went to the children's exhibit at the LDS Church Art and History Museum. I highly recommend it. The kids had so much fun!
Yes Carter has a piece of plastic food in his mouth. He put it in there just as I was snapping the picture.
The rest of the weekend we spend with Lance's parents. Carter had fun at Grandma and Grandpa's as well as meeting some family at Lance's cousin's wedding reception. This weekend he started to counting from 1-10, with just a little help at the beginning. Smart boy! He also now does the actions and sings Book of Mormon Stories. He is starting to say names more and learned some of his cousins and uncles names. It was cute to hear him talk about them all weekend and on the way home.

What to do with nap/quiet time?!?
The past week or so Carter hasn't taken a nap. It has been a battle. I'm very sad that my much needed break during the day may be over! Today I decided for nap/quiet time that I wouldn't make Carter stay in bed as long as he stayed in his room. Good news: pretty sure he ended up falling asleep for a while and I got a nap too. Really bad news: After a couple hours he started calling for me and when I went in I discovered the hugest mess I have ever seen him make. ALL his clothes were on the floor, multiple kleenex boxes had been torn apart and were everywhere, everything that could be up turned was. The best part, sitting in the middle of it all with a look of pure innocence on his face, one very naked boy! Oh and I also discovered his blanket and part of the floor were wet. I'm not sure what do to, other than strip everything out of his room, which isn't possible anyway. This boy is going to kill me!!

Merry Christmas
Before posting about Christmas I have a few other things. This first one is one of Carter's new favorite things to do during nap time when he doesn't want to take a nap. He likes making huge messes in his room. He also likes to open the bottom drawer of his dresser and climbs up to the top. However he doesn't like climbing down so this particular day this is what I discovered when I went to his room in response to his callings for me.
A couple days before Christmas was my birthday. It so happened it also was one of the few nights over the Christmas break that either Lance our I were not working. We went out to eat at a local Italian restaurant. Carter was so busy and wouldn't stop climbing all over me. He did however enjoy eating the fried green beans (surprisingly delicious) and a large amount of Lance's pasta. Usually he doesn't eat hardly anything at restaurants so this was a nice surprise at least. After dinner we drove up to the South Hills to see the amazing lights at a house up there. We love going up there and try to every year. Carter loved seeing all the lights, especially all the different animal ones.
When we got home rather late Carter helped me open my present before going to bed. It was a nice day spent with my two favorite boys!
Carter loved the Christmas tree and was pretty good with it this year. He liked touching the lights and grabbing the ornaments down low. We kept a good majority of the ornaments on the top part of the tree or left them in the box.
We let Carter open a present the night before Christmas. I had him open his "choo-choo" pillow. He absolutely loves it and it's the perfect train for him to take to bed. I love when Christmas falls on Sundays. It seems like such a perfect way to start the day. It was also nice that we were able to get up at a normal time, go to church, and open presents and things are we got home. Pretty sure this will be the last year that Carter won't really get exactly what's going on.
Lance got a new portable light to use outside. He really likes it.
Carter opening his new race track. Lance in the back ground putting together his new light. He was kind of MIA for the rest of the present opening because of this. :)
Even though this picture doesn't look like it, Carter loved opening all his present and seeing his fun new toys.
Carter with all his new things. He wasn't very interested in sitting still for a picture.
We had a very lovely Christmas at home! Lance had to work Christmas Eve, I had to work Christmas Night but it was nice to enjoy a quiet Christmas day at home as a family.
