Upward Basketball 2010 Final Game

It is with mixed emotions that I report on the last game of Upward Basketball for the 2009-2010 season. I find that I really look forward to the final game and then when it comes, I end up really missing it. We had a great time and Brent even mentioned that he thinks he'll sign up to coach next year. Now that will be fun!

Nana and Patty drove up from Colorado Springs to see the last game and to see Emery ~ pretty much in that order.

We headed over to Pasquini's again and felt that the pizza was almost just as good as last time. I think we might try another kind next time we visit ~ along with our two free glasses of wine (sign up on their website) on our next date night!Image

I think Brendan's favorite part is still playing with the dough!Image

Testing...testing... 1, 2

I think I might have figured out how to include videos in our blog...
Here's one of Brendan (our resident Vampire) at Halloween ~ I think he gets this from his father...

And here's one of the delighted little Emery ~ and her very entertaining brother ~ on February 21, 2010 when we finally brought out the Exersaucer

It kind of sounds like she might be crying and laughing but she was smiling the whole time
Sorry for the quality of the video ~ I think we might need to invest in a better video camera...

Exer-Baby!

We finally took Brendan's Exer-saucer out of storage on February 21st and I just had to share some funny pics! (Video to follow...)

Image What in the world?

ImageFunny, funny brother

ImageI threw my head back in laughter ~
then realized I couldn't get it back upright ~
then everyone laughed!

Blogging ~ One year at a time?... part 6 (finally caught up!!!)

January 2010

1st ~ Brent and Emery were up partying too late on New Year's Eve.  And now we all know why the decorations didn't come down on New Year's Day..  hehe
Image
4th ~ I just really thought this picture was funny.  Brendan picked out a toy for Emery before she was born ~ a pink crown with jewels... because he was going to call her "Princess" (I know, commence with the "awwww") ~ and she was staring at it when I put her in her carseat.  She just looks so amazed by it.  Makes me chuckle every time I see it.
Image
8th ~ The many faces of Little Miss Muffin
ImageImageImage
9th ~ This was a bouncy seat that we got when Brendan was a baby.  He was so excited to have Emery sit in it and then was thrilled when he realized he could zip it up on both sides and she was enclosed in there.  So, anyone else think he might have been wishing it was a cage for his darling baby sister?  Just me?  Hm.
Image
And you guessed it ~ Baby's 3 months old!
Image
11th ~ Aunt Judy sent the sweetest little sweater dress for Em before she was born. I finally (!) got around to getting her all dolled up and taking some pictures.  Here's a sample:
Image
16th ~ One of the few action shots from one of Brendan's basketball games.  I ask you to draw your attention to the child in the white on the court who appears to be dancing some kind of Irish jig.  Yep, he's mine.  Maybe we should introduce him to dance next...  By the way, you can apparently click on the pictures in the blog and see a larger picture... just in case you really want to see Brendan's technique and form.
Image
18th ~ Asleep in her father's arms.  Look at that peace!  Makes me wonder... why, again, do I not seek to spend more time in my heavenly Father's arms?  Just a thought to ponder.  That might be a topic for my other blog...
Image
20th ~ My sweet little baby... Wonder when Brent's going to decide that I'm an unfit mother!  Or maybe just that I can't be trusted to be home alone with the kidlets...  I'm guessing it will be when she's about 18 months old and will fit into the Jerry Rice Raiders jersey onesie.  (insert ornery giggle here)
Image
31st ~ I love, love, love this picture!  I love how they both look so stinking cute!  I love how I'm reminded that I love them both with such fierceness!  I love how Emery appears to be so over having her picture taken...already!
Image
Is it bad to admit that I don't like Tummy Time because I'm afraid she's going to crawl off any minute?
Image
So much stinkin' pink!  I know I'm biased, I know, but seriously...  She's kinda cute, right?
Image
February 2010
3rd ~ Okay, who left the baby on the floor for so long that she fell asleep?
Image
6th ~ Another basketball game.  And look, Brendan's actually playing basketball.  And defense!  No dancing.  Progress!
Image
And Emery at the game.  Refusing to sleep.  And thinking she might go ahead and eat her jacket.  Poor baby...
Image
9th ~ My little Valentine is 4 months old!  Can anyone explain to me how time literally speeds up when you have little children?
Image
I love this expression on her face ~ I only wish it wasn't so blurry.
Image
10th ~ Emery's first official playdate.  This is the darling Katherine.  She's 2 months older than Emery.  And she's adorable.  And they're enjoying each other's sweet little heads.  And I think she may be interested in taking a bite out of Emery's sweet cheek.  I can't say I blame her, I think about it on an almost daily basis.
ImageImage
12th ~ I wanted to show you the look on Emery's sweet little face when she's been caught.  I was making cookies for Brendan's Valentine's day party at school ~ of course it was at the last minute, have you met me? ~ so Emery was hanging out on her blanket in the living room.  I figured I could get some of the cookies done while she was content and then I'd feed her.  When I returned to the living room I found her... clearly defiant... and smiling... on the floor near the blanket.  My whole world is about to change...  Please don't walk yet, baby.  (Oh yeah, that's also her doing her "Happy Dance" that I really hope I can capture on video.  I'm afraid I might have missed my window of opportunity on that one.)
Image
Brendan also pulled his second tooth out ~ right in front of me! ~ on the 12th.  I was going to include a picture of him but it's too gross.  At least this one made it to the Tooth Fairy!  I wanted to leave a letter for the Tooth Fairy asking if I could keep this one since we lost the first lost tooth.  Brendan said that we couldn't because the Tooth Fairy might lose his/her job.  He has such a sweet, compassionate heart.  Hope he doesn't look in my jewelry box anytime soon...

14th ~ Valentine's Day!  I really like celebrating our family's love for one another on this day ~ and demonstrating/modeling the love between husband and wife on a daily basis.  No pressure, right?  Here's a picture of the lovely blueberry pancake my husband made.  And the napkin rings that I forgot we had ~ until we organized the garage last year.  I'm such a romantic!
Image
19th ~ My little cupcake's cupcake hat ~ thanks Aunt Judy.  Go get one.  Now!  Either the hat or the Aunt Judy.  But you'll have to get your own.  I'm keeping both of 'em!
Image
20th ~ Grandma and Granpa Van's visit for Brendan's basketball game.  Is this kid totally spoiled, or what?  I love this pic with Grandpa and Emery.  It looks like she's aking me, "What do I need you for?  Grandpa's here."
Image
And then, "Can I keep him?"                            Image

Pasquini's for dinner.  In Lone Tree.  Go.  Now.  Go!
Image
I'm not sure if Brendan's smiling because dinner was so great or because he gets to go spend the night with Grandma and Grandpa and go swimming!  Either way, it pretty much shows just how great the weekend was!

Blogging ~ One year at a time?... part 5 (almost done...)

November 2009

7th ~ Let's get out of the house!  We took Brendan's scooter to Confluence Park downtown to enjoy some great weather.

He's so cool!

9th ~ Emery's One Month Old!
Image
10th ~ Brendan loses his 1st tooth!  Twice!
Image
His tooth fell out while he was at school and he brought it home in a little plastic treasure box.  (They have everything these days!)  We were heading back to school for our Parent/Teacher conference and agreed to let him bring his tooth with him.  While we were meeting with his teacher, Brendan was coloring with markers on paper... and on his tooth, apparently.  When we got home he asked if he could wash his tooth.  Relunctantly, I agreed.  (You can't protect them from everything.... right?)  About 10 seconds later the tears began.  Yes. You guessed it. The tooth was gone forever down the drain.

For those of you who are curious how this all panned out for Brendan...  We did leave a letter for the Tooth Fairy explaining the circumstances.  Said Tooth Fairy was quite understanding ~ apparently this is not the first time this has happened.  The Tooth Fairy did, indeed, pay Brendan twice for his lost tooth.  Oh yes, he is living the life of Riley.

12th ~ The Belfields welcome a Cooper's Hawk in our backyard.  Have I already mentioned that I love this town?
Image
13th ~ I guess Brent wasn't the only one who spoiled Emery by holding her while she slept... hm.  I've got nothing more to say about that.
Image
14th ~ My cousin Laura (aka La) meets Emery while in town for work.
Image
15th ~ "How does my hair look?"

20th ~ Doctor, Zoo and Basketball

Image"Ummm... what did you do to my hair?"
Image
I figured I better have some evidence that she did cry
~ at least once ~ as a baby.

8th ~ Winter Suncatcher.  This was one of our Christmas Countdown activities this year.  What a great way to get ready for Christmas ~ to slow down and spend time together and to take the importance off of "What am I gonna get?"  I hope this becomes our family tradition.
Image
9th ~ Baby's 2 months old!

12th ~ My birthday presents

A living doll

And my son singing in choir at church

Image
18th ~ Dinner with Grandma and Granpa Bailey at Giuseppe's Old Depot in Colorado Springs
ImageImage
20th ~ "Gingerbread" houses.  This was another one of our Christmas Countdown activities.  I really enjoyed doing this with Brendan but I think we'll need to practice a bit if we're going to have a chance in the competition next year!
Image
21st ~ Hot Chocolate/Lattes, Christmas Lights and Pajamas.  This was FUN!
Image
ImageImage
I was playing a bit with the lights
and the camera by the end of the night.

23rd ~ Brendan might just be a LEGO master someday.  I think I'll send one of these pictures off to the LEGO magazine and see if they'll publish it.
Image
24th ~ Christmas Eve.  Here we go...
Image
The only gift he gets to open on Christmas Eve ~ new jammers.
I think he might have finally caught on.
