* It’s been way too quiet here the past few weeks, time to stir things up a little. The more attentive readers amongst you, might have read it past week on the Neat & Tangled blog. After 6 years of loyal service I’m saying goodbye to my old blog this coming weekend, and I’m moving into a completely new spot. It’s been a labor of love, but from this Saturday you can find me at elsbrige.com.

Zeker volgen dus via Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Alle nodig links vind je op mijn ‘Follow Me’ pagina. * But that not all. I have another very exciting announcement, that I will have to keep secret from you just a tad bit longer. From today on until Saturday, I will share some sneaks on my social media however. Who knows you might get a little wiser by following along. So be sure to follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. You can find all links on my ‘Follow Me’ page.

Ik zie jullie zaterdag hopelijk op mijn nieuwe stek. * I hope to see you Saturday on my new spot.

I’m very honored to be this month’s guest designer over on the Neat & Tangled blog. I was so lucky to be able to work with some of their amazing products, such as this Maple Leaves journaling set.

Fall Day journaling card by Els Brigé

As I was playing around with this fun set, it reminded me of an art project we had to do in high school. In our school garden we had to search for a big maple leave. We then had to sketch around it with pencil on a piece of paper, to then draw it with ink. Once that was done, the assignment was to fill the entire leave up with tiny little circles.

I’m not sure what the intentions of this assignment were, but I kind of liked the repetitive and meticulous nature of filling in my leave. It took us several hours, needless to say. I found it relaxing. So this one took me back to my high school days;)

Click on over to the Neat & Tangled blog to see my first guest projects with this same Maple Leaves set – with a completely different feel to them however.

Next week is going to be an amazing one here on my blog. I have something new cooking, so be sure to stop by. Enjoy your weekend!!

Happy Thursday!! Sorry for my absence earlier this week. I’ve been busy. But I thought I’d pop in today to share this card I made a few months ago – yeah, I know, it took me that long to share.

Hello, It's a Special Day by Els Brigé

You may have seen bits and pieces of it around my social media – this is one of the cards included in a workshop. But I thought it was time to share the whole thing today.

Hello, It's a Special Day by Els Brigé

On a cardfront of watercolor paper I first stamped (and masked) a couples of the Peony Scrolls from Altenew, and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. And then of course I went on to coloring each of the petals – watercoloring with my distress markers, first with a yellow color closer to the heart of the flower, and with pinks on the outer edges.

By adding both colors immediately one after the other without drying in between, the colors could bleed into each other. In between the florals and in a smaller amount above them I added a light touch of pink to the background. The ‘hello’ die is from Mama Elephant.

I worked on a couple other colors too – all kinds of different combos and shades are possible. This one also got a light blue background wash.

Thanks for stopping by!

I’m so behind on sharing projects. This layout I made about a month ago for the A Flair For Buttons blog.

Always Together by Els Brigé for A Flair For Buttons

The background paper is an ombré pink one, which for some reason doesn’t show up really well in the pictures. This is one of those pictures of the kids I couldn’t not scrap. It’s too fun to not add in our album. It was taken early this year. They’re such goofballs together. And yes, Nora’s front tooth went totally crazy that day;)

Onto the background paper I added some texture with gesso and a mask. It’s subtle, but adds a fun touch.

Around the time I made this layout, I had just received a fun parcel of new goodies from Chic Tags, and Color Cast Designs. So of course I had to dive into both for this layout.

Here and there I also added some subtle stamping to the background. This flower stamp is from Prima, and breaks up the white space of the background.

About a month ago – on August 9th to be exact – I did a post in the Good Life series on Becky Higgins blog. I didn’t have a chance to share it here on my blog yet, so I thought it was time for that today.

It took me some time to figure out what exactly I was going to write about, but I was pretty sure from the moment I got asked that I was going to write something about motherhood. Because that’s what has been on my mind lately. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

If you care to read my post over on Becky’s blog, here’s a direct link for you. Are you able to cherish all aspects of motherhood?

Don’t forget to embrace it all.

Happy Project Life Monday!! Hard to believe another week has come and gone. We’re still in the middle of that back-to-school frenzy. But I’m feeling excited, because a large project, that I’ve been working on for a few weeks now, is almost finished. I’m getting impatient te share;)

Project Life 2015 | Week 19 by Els Brigé for Becky Higgins DT

Week 19 was a fun week, with mother’s day, last minute photo sessions, and party preparations.

The left page of the spread is a design J page protector. Just as last week, I used the Southern Weddings Core kit, the 4×4, and the specialty cards.

Embellishments are pretty simple on this spread.

I decided to go for antique china for Nora’s big party – so I went hunting for one in some second hand stores. While I was originally planning on gathering an eclectic mix of designs, I fell in love with this pink flowered tea set. It’s so beautiful – too bad one of the cups is missing, so I’m on the hunt for a matching one now;)

Mother’s Day meant gifts and little notes from the kids. This one fitted in the album.

Behind the note, I stamped a couple of light pink roses onto the neutral 4×6 card. A beautiful detail.

See you later this week!!

Happy Project Life Monday!

I know I still owe you a few Project Life Process posts. Fact is that those posts require a little more time to prepare, time that I seem to be running out a lot of these days;) – I’m cooking up a few fun things for the fall, but shhh … don’t tell anyone … I promise we’ll get back to the PLP series very soon. So today is a regular Project Life week. We’re up to week 18.

Project Life 2015 | Week 18 by Els Brigé for Becky Higgins DT

Week 18 was once again really busy – that could explain the lack of pictures in this spread;) I used the Southern Weddings Edition for the spread. The Core Kit, as well as the specialty cards, and overlays.

Project Life 2015 | Week 18 by Els Brigé for Becky Higgins DT

I love the softness of the Southern Wedding edition. Even though I don’t see any weddings in my near future, I still could see myself use quite some of the cards in my regular albums. I ordered the specialty cards, and the overlays. The core kit I got in the digital version, so I could pick out the cards that I wanted and just print those.

Project Life 2015 | Week 18 by Els Brigé for Becky Higgins DT

I pretty much kept my embellishing in the same neutral color scheme as the collection. The title card has a beautiful subtle wood grain on the background.

Project Life 2015 | Week 18 by Els Brigé for Becky Higgins DT

The specialty cards are foiled, and add a gorgeous touch to the spreads. The Southern Weddings edition also has a set of embossing folders. I used the larger folder on this soft grey striped 4×6 card to give it a bit more interest before embelllishing it.

Project Life 2015 | Week 18 by Els Brigé for Becky Higgins DT

Once in a blue moon my hubby and I go on a shopping trip together. This was one of those occasions. My Project Life albums are mostly about the kids – or the pictures are at least. I love to have a few pictures of my husband, or him together with the kids in there too. I don’t do this nearly enough.

Project Life 2015 | Week 18 by Els Brigé for Becky Higgins DT

The overlay was perfect for this picture.

Project Life 2015 | Week 18 by Els Brigé for Becky Higgins DT

The right page is a smaller page protector, a design J if you’re interested. In the row of square pockets on the outer right of the spread, I added a flyer of the restaurant my hubby and I went to dinner on our little shopping trip. It couldn’t have fitted better;)

Thanks for stopping by again this week! Be sure to drop by on Wednesday because I’ll be waving summer out with a special offer. Don’t miss out!
