What a great night we had!
Hi Ladies,
Last night was a great night. I particularly enjoyed having the book club meeting at 7:00. ;-)
The discussion was interesting and then after we discussed the book Betsy reminded me that I have ignored the blog. So, I took it back from Zack and I will do my best. B had a great suggestion that I make each of you able to edit and post. I think that you can post to the blog now and I am figuring out how to have each of you post as administrators. I will let you know when I know more.
Joanne, The dessert was so yummy and I look forward to posting it in the recipe section. That section will be up and going soon (like maybe tonight!).
Next month, We are reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Wells. We will meet on April 7 at Melody's house. Time to be announced. . .
Your ever repentant blogger,
Michele

Zack just discovered a great book find
Zack wanted me to tell everyone who does not know that the used bookstore Twice Told Tales in Nampa is so cool and he wants everyone to check it out. If you haven't already-- like me!-- it has tons of books and games, too!

Which book should LaRene choose?
I'm doing book club in October and have narrowed it down to these two choices. if you have an opinion, vote your preference.
~LaRene
The Twentieth Wife
by Indu SundaresanAn enchanting historical epic of grand passion and adventure, this debut novel tells the captivating story of one of India's most controversial empresses -- a woman whose brilliance and determination trumped myriad obstacles, and whose love shaped the course of the Mughal Empire. Skillfully blending the textures of historical reality with the rich and sensual imaginings of a timeless fairy tale, The Twentieth Wife sweeps readers up in Mehrunnisa's embattled love with Prince Salim, and in the bedazzling destiny of a woman -- a legend in her own time -- who was all but lost to history until now.
In 1957, at the age of 16, Melba Pattillo became a civil rights warrior. Following the landmark 1954 Supreme Court ruling, Melba was one of nine teenagers chosen to integrate Little Rock's Central High School. Here, in a special abridged young reader's edition, is Melba Pattillo Beals's remarkable story.

This Month-- Tami's house and the fine art of marriage
Due to a family medical emergency, Tami is changing her book club night to the 16th of September. That will give us all time to finish our books and to begin reading LaRene's choices. Please remember Tami and her family in your prayers as she spends time with her beloved Uncle during this difficult time.

googles review of this months book
Tallgrass
Sandra Dallas
During Word War II, a family fnds life turned upside down when the government opens a Japanese internment camp in their small Colorado town. After a young girl is murdered, all eyes (and suspicions) turn to the newcomers, the interlopers, the strangers.
This is her town as Rennie Stroud has never seen it before. She has just turned thirteen and, until this time, life has pretty much been what her father told her it should be: predictable and fair. But now the winds of change are coming and, with them, a shift in her perspective. And Rennie will discover secrets that can destroy even the most sacred things.
Part thriller, part historical novel, Tallgrass is a riveting exploration of the darkest---and best---parts of the human heart.
