Darwinism in Sunday School

By the Independent Record - 12/22/05
Letter to the Editor

A letter to Bush

George Bush: Let us talk about intelligent design vs. evolution. Do you advise teaching various Native American creation beliefs, such as the earth forming on the back of a turtle rising from the water?

How about the school of thought of Raelians that humans are cloned extraterrestrials? Or the Babylonian Enuma Elish that we sprang from blood drops of the God Kingu?

There are churches on every street corner, to say nothing of TV and radio coverage. Religion does not belong in science classes. How could science teachers be expected to explain any of the above beliefs? Special training?

George, if you want to expose people to different schools of thought, how about Darwinism in Sunday School, inserting a chapter of Origin of the Species between Genesis 1 and 2?

Oh, and George, a separate issue: Did you choose personal loyalty over competence when you decided to run for president?
