Charlotte Raye: 7-months

Image
7-months

Our sweet Charlotte is 7-months today!  She is the best baby.  She is so content and certainly the easiest babe we've had yet.  Feeling grateful and blessed for such an easy going babe.

The Name Game:

About an hour or so before delivery, my sister Meredith and my sister-in-law Stacy were hanging out with Brent and I  in the delivery room and they were trying to help us decide on a name for the babe.  It was a stressful process, but it at least helped pass the time in between contractions.  The first picture below is what we were left with up until "game" time.  Then our list was cut in half when baby girl Mangum made her debut.

It was still a good two days later before we could decide on her name.  The birth certificate office from the hospital called me multiple times over the 48 hours post delivery asking if we had decided on a name yet?  I was pretty frustrated at one point because they seemed less than happy when I told them I needed more time.  Finally though, just a short while before being discharged, Brent and I had a quiet moment to ourselves and decided that Charlotte Raye was a good fit.  I know all children mold into their birth names, but I wanted to make sure her name "fit" her and that it was a name that both Brent and I liked (which apparently there are very few names that we both like:)

I really love her name and I think it does suit her perfectly.  She's such an awesome baby!

Cinco De Mayo Celebration

Cinco de Mayo and baby Charlotte were celebrated at our house this past Sunday.  We hosted a post church baby blessing celebration and since it was Cinco de Mayo we had a mexican themed menu.  The weather was glorious and the company was even better.  Thank you to our family who drove from out of town to be here with us to celebrate and participate in Charlotte's sweet baby blessing.  It was a special day for our family.

Baby Charlotte's Blessing Day

Charlotte Raye Mangum

Image

We've made it through 2 weeks now as a family of FIVE.  I can't describe how amazing these past two weeks have been with Charlotte.  She is a snugly and sweet baby and we adore her.  She is very blessed to have an older brother and sister who are both very protective of her and want to snuggle with her often.  Although my 9+ hours of sleep a night has basically been cut in half, I am somehow managing through the days fairly well.  Occasionally I have to treat myself to a coke just to keep going, but all in all things have been well.  We're each learning our new roles and trying to adjust accordingly.

Although I'm skipping over a few posts that I'll need to go back and add, TODAY was a special day for our family.  Charlotte's baby blessing took place this morning at church and we're grateful for so many wonderful family and friends that were a part of this occasion.

Our dear friend Jane generously offered to take some photos of the family which we've posted here.

Baby Girl

WoW!  We have a new baby girl!

Today is my actual due date.   This past week has been such a blur, yet also so fantastic in so many ways.  My heart is full (and my hormones are adjusting)!  We feel so loved and cared for by SO many.  Many more updates to come about the delivery, which wasn't as easy and uneventful as I anticipated, and this past week.

-Love,
Robin & Brent

D-DAY Update #2

Robin is at 10 cm. Ready to push.  In other news, Jasper says hello.

D-DAY Update #1

No baby yet.  This kid has been officially labeled as "stubborn."  We anticipate the baby looking something like this:

D-DAY

Water broken at 7:30.  Robin shockingly passed out when the nurse came at her with the IV. Contractions are getting more and more frequent and potent.  In the meantime, enjoy this photo of me riding an alligator.

baby/crawfish/ritter maher

I'm really lucky to work in such a great place and with such great people.  Honestly, I think I have more fun at work than what should be allowed.  Although there are many moments when I wish I could be at home more, working here makes it all bearable.  Thanks Ritter Maher Architects for 7 great years.  You guys are not just co-workers to me/us, but basically friends and family as well.

Today we celebrated Spring and Baby Mangum's soon arrival.
