To Appease Shalane...

Image
Image

Somebody...I won't mention any names...is getting on me for not posting any pictures lately.
I'm afraid I have some terrible news. Sawyer managed to get a hold of my camera and thought it would be great fun to throw it with all his might, right onto the hard tile floor. It is no longer with us.
Here are a couple older pictures for your viewing Imagepleasure...

Sawyer is One!

Image
Image

Image

ImageImageImageIt's hard to believe that he is one already!! It just seems so old! Do we really have a toddler? He's so much more fun now too, running all over the place with me close behind! Who needs a treadmill, eh? We had fun today. The weather has been perfect the past week. We get out as much as possible before the cold hits. I'm really dreading that...what do you do with kids in the winter?! I don't think he's quite ready for snowboarding...
His little birthday party went as well as expected considering he had a hour nap today...that's it. He sure didn't like getting messy though. He just cried until he was cleaned up...wuss...what boy DOESN'T like getting dirty!? But the gifts made up for it...he thought that was pretty cool. Grandma and Grandpa Palmer got him a puzzle and a really cool train that moves and spits balls out! Fun! We will be throwing him another party next week because Tina (Jim's sister) will be here and any excuse for cake is fine by me...hopefully he's not so grumpy.

Our Little Climber

Image
This is what happens when I turn my back for one second...he finds the naughtiest thing possible and plays with it. In this case, the touch lamp...you know, the ones that have no switches you just touch the metal somewhere. Well, now anytime we can't find Sawyer this is the first place we look. I should probably just close our bedroom door but he loves our bed. We just have mattresses on the floor so it's just the right hight for a baby and he loves hiding in our blankets and pillows. (For those of you who don't know my sleeping habits this consists of about 8 pillows, 1 body pillow and 7 blankets)

Shalane Visits!

Image
ImageIt was so much fun to have Shalane and Alta here!! I am already going through withdrawals! I really think that family should be required to live closer...
Sawyer LOVED Alta! They were hilarious to watch! Shalane has some pictures of Alta in the Johnny Jump up where Sawyer is trying to give her an underdog. They would also take turns putting their fingers in each others mouths...I'm pretty sure it went a lot easier with Sawyer...Alta has no teeth. Poogie, we need to live closer!

Halloween

Image
ImageImageHAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
So I had all these fun ideas for last night and they all kind of just got shot to crap...I really wanted to have a little "photo shoot" you know, like how Lisa sets up a sheet and props and Sierra just sits there like a little angel? But noooooo...Sawyer was wiggly, grumpy, silly, obnoxious, crazy...Bipolar. He wasn't having any of it. Actually, it was pretty funny. I don't think that anyone has ever worked so hard at getting their child to smile! :) It might have been a good idea to take pictures of that! Sawyer got his hands on some candy and wouldn't let the bowl out of his sight the rest of the night...wherever the bowl was, he was. We never opened a piece for him, but I'm pretty certain his little teeth made holes in the wrappers because he was enjoying it way too much. And his breath reeked of banana laughy taffy...oh, and I was the only adult at our little get together that dressed up...LOSERS!

A Day in Holden

Image

ImageImage
Mom, Jim, Sawyer and I went to Holden yesterday for a day of jelly making and yard work! This was Sawyers first trip down there and I think he rather enjoyed himself. While he was sleeping Jim and I got to get out and go for a ride on the 4-wheeler. I always feel really weird when I don't have Sawyer with me...when we got back he was awake so we gave him a ride up the driveway! He was obsessed with all the buttons. :) I felt a little like Britney Spears though....
I love the Fall!! The colors at grandma and grandpas were amazing! Just look at their house!
I missed having my sisters there so all the kids could run around terrorizing Holden! (not Lisa's Holden...the town...) Ahhhhh the memories...it's really depressing not being able to go get penny candy. ImageImage

Pumpkins

ImageYou know...there is something really satisfying about carving a pumpkin. I'm not sure whether it has to do with all the work put into it, or just the part where you get to get all goopy and dig those slimy guts out...I'm going to have to say the latter...
Sawyer LOVED the pumpkin patch, though you might not be able to tell from the lack of a smile...but, that's just Sawyer. So serious all the time. :) He pretty much thought it was the coolest thing ever climbing all over the pumpkins! Jim really got into it this year! His is the graveyard scene. Pretty spectacular if you ask me. :) Sadly I ran out of time so Sawyer will have to wait for his.Image
Having a kid makes everything more fun during holidays.

MY BIRTHDAY!!

ImageI don't think I could ever get tired of my birthday...I might complain I'm getting old, but really, I love when my birthday comImagees around. I get to be Queen for a day. Jim took care of Sawyer while I got to go shopping with mom. I love new clothes... thanks mom! My task is to resist all the goodies that seem to be everywhere in such abundance during the holidays so that these clothes will continue to fit. You know, I love being a mom, but it sure is nice to get out without kids every once and a while to do something for ME.

Our baby gangsta

Image
Even though he has been an absolute pain in the butt the past week or so, it's moments like these that I can remember why I love him and put up with it. I have to laugh at the faces he makes when he is "walking". He is concentrating so hard, he puckers up his lips or has his mouth wide open. This tends to make him look like a thug.

A Day at the Park

ImageWell, I'm bored of the whole "story" I had going there for a while...let's make things a bit less dorky. Sawyer is 10 months old! Jim aImagend I were talking the other day about how it feels like we just brought him home from the hospital but at the same time we feel like he's been a part of our lives forever. Does that make sense? We can't remember what life was like before him, the freedoms we had and the lazy days, and frankly don't want too. I wouldn't change what we have now for any of those days. Well...maybe the body I had. The nice flat stretch-mark free belly... So we were at the park, it was nice and cold and rainy, and we like to just let Sawyer crawl around and explore and do his own thing while Jim and I just hang out. Luckily, Jim was watching just at the moment when Sawyer found someoImagenes old gum on the sidewalk. I've never seen a body move so fast! He also is obsessed with dirt. If there is even the smallest patch of dirt within a Imageone mile radius he'll find it and eat it. He will wait till we're looking though and then shove it in his mouth...Max? Do you not see that evil in his eye?

The magic hat

Image
Image
One day the prince and princess noticed a flat spot on poor Sawyers head. They couldn't stand to think of other children making fun of him as he grew, so they decided to fix him. They took him to the village witch who molded a magical hat for him to wear. At first the princess had a really hard time seeing Sawyer in it, she felt like the worst mom in the world, as if she did something to hurt him. The town people would stare and point, which wasn't so bad except for when you could see the judgment in their eyes. But those where few and far between. Most of the towns people, and especially their children, were just curious. Little Sawyer could have cared less about it. He rather enjoyed it actually, except for on really hot days. He would crack himself up by getting the magical hat stuck on different objects and then trying to yank it off. And though the princess was used to the hat now, she was still anxious for it to come off, revealing the most perfect head anyone ever saw. In the meantime, the young prince took leisure in sitting in his hot tub and practicing his temper tantrums.

Then comes baby...

ImageThe prince and princess were shocked at how the time flew. At first they couldn't believe that something so small and helpless could be so much work. But the handsome prince was strong and took care of mom and baby both. Then there were firsts. First smiles, first nights sleep, first time sitting on his own and first teeth. Their little kingdom was a bubble of happiness ready to burst but somehow just continued to fill. Life was perfect.

In the beginning...

Image
Once upon a time in a land far away, in a land so wonderful it could only be called Happy Valley, there lived a beautiful princess. This girl was not under some spell or captive of some evil witch...no, this girl had it all. Or so she thought.
One day the most handsome prince in all the lands came calling. He was the most wonderful person she had ever met and from that day forth they were inseparable.
Though it took FOREVER for the young man to ask for her hand, they were finally wed on December 28, 2005. Life was perfect for the happy couple. Or so they thought...
On November 19, 2007 the impossible happened...life got even better with the birth of their beautiful boy, Sawyer Kenneth. And this is where their story REALLY begins...
