tl;dr¶
We’re restructuring our pricing for the first time since 2013. We’re combining the Hacker ($5/month or €5/month in the EU system) and Web Developer ($12/month or €12/month in the EU system) tiers into a new Developer tier ($10/month €10/month in the EU system).
These changes will start January 8 (EU) and January 15 (US). Free users who upgrade before the change will lock in the current Hacker rate of $5/month (€5/month in the EU system). This lets us invest in platform upgrades, better security, and the features you’ve been requesting.

Why We’re Restructuring Our Plans¶
Here’s the reality: we haven’t raised prices since 2013. For 12 years, we’ve maintained the same pricing structure: a $5 Hacker tier for hobbyists and learners, a $12 Web Developer tier for people who need more CPU allowance, a $99 Startup plan for small businesses, and a custom plan for everything else. That worked well when we started, but the lines between these tiers have blurred as both the platform and our users’ needs have evolved.
Starting in January 2026, we’re consolidating the Hacker ($5/month) and Web Developer ($12/month) tiers into a single Developer tier ($10/month or €10/month in the EU system) that gives you the best of both plans. The Developer tier will include features like:
- 1 web app
- 3 web workers
- 20 scheduled tasks
- 5,000 seconds of CPU allowance
- 5 GB of storage

What happens for current customers?¶
If you’re already a paying customer, you’ll keep your same rate and features as long as you don’t cancel or modify your subscription. So, for example, if you’re currently on the Web Developer tier, you’ll keep those features for $12/month (or €12/month in the EU system).
This is also your last chance to lock in the current $5/month (€5/month in the EU system) Hacker tier price. After January 8th (EU) or January 15th (US), new Developer subscriptions will be $10/month. Read about the broader changes to PythonAnywhere and guidance for free tier users here.
