My small bookstore STUFF will be selling at The 40th (congrats!) Helsinki Comics Festival the upcoming weekend. We’ll bring along it all but since most of the titles we have just a few copies you better be fast.
The festival is open for public 20th and 21th of September on Saturday 11AM–8PM and on Sunday 11AM–6PM.

On Friday 15th of Agust we’ll celebrate the release of Dodie Bellamy’s new Finnish translation (from Tutkijaliitto) at my bookstore Stuff. The event starts at 6PM and ends at 9PM. Present discussing the book are translator / writer Viljami Hukka and writer / artist Katariina Yli-Malmi. Mill’s pop-up café ‘Valssikahvila’ will serve food and Stuff is naturally open until 21. The event works as the preparty for The Siuro Book Fair (Painetun sanan markkinat) that’s held the next day, Saturday 16th of August at Knuutila (Lukkisalmentie 49, Siuro). Stuff is as well present at the fair with a selection of books & art. The fair is open 10AM–5PM and continues with a club evening at the same location (5–9PM), with open mic poetry & Must Tone Ensemble playing live. More on PSM programme (in Finnish). Welcome!

STUFF Bookstore will be selling some goodies @ Telakka Kuplii in Tampere the upcoming Saturday. Will also host a panel on Kutikuti’s Tihku-anthology with authors Jyrki Heikkinen and Lauri Mäkimurto + talk on my own book Future with Jiipu Uusitalo.
The house will be full of people selling stuff so pop by. Will bring lots of material from Stuff you can’t really get any place else here in Finland. Welcome!

The Helsinki Comics Festival is one of the oldest events in Europe devoted to graphic narrative art. This year’s edition will be held the upoming weekend (31.8.–1.9.) in The Cable Factory in Helsinki. I’ll be there through the event with my bookstore STUFF (booth no. 8) selling a lot of goods you can’t find anywhere else in Finland. Kutikuti (booth no. 7) is located next to Stuff so you can find all we do easily. Also my new graphic novel Future is on the Merikaapelihalli stage on Saturday 17.00–17.45 with Reetta Laitinen hosting an interview. Hope to see you all there!

Our third Siuro Book Fair (Painetun sanan markkinat) will be held the upcoming Saturday, 17th of August 10–17 with some evening programme after that – interviews, panels, presentations, music, poetry, food +++. The theme of this year is Democracy. My bookstore Stuff will be naturally selling books there. It’s all free for everyone so welcome!

Some of you may know that I’ve been slowly building an own small bookstore to be opened here in the village of Siuro where I live in. Well, now it’s finally happening:
STUFF is a special bookstore and a statement in itself.
A small alternative bookstore on the countryside selling material difficult to find in Finland. Stuff focuses on quality small press with the selection consisting of contemporary comics, art, poetry, philosophy and music.
Stuff is a long-term project of mine. It is a persistent structure that will cherish diversity of arts. Just a couple of decades ago even the smallest villages had their own bookstores. These days they do not exist and the selection of bigger cities is shrinking into nil. Meanwhile, most of the quality literature is published by small publishers. These titles are where literature is alive and that is the core of Stuff bookstore.
Stuff is located in an old mill of Valssimylly (Kuljuntie 2, upper yard) in the village of Siuro (Finland). There are no specific opening hours but the doors are open mostly weekdays from 9AM until 4PM.
We celebrate the store opening on 15th of June at 6–8PM with food and drinks and live music by Jukka Nousiainen.
