Life

We bought a house in February. We moved in on a Saturday and Taelor got her helmet the next Monday. I was afraid all the changes would really upset her, but she did really well. The first night was bad, but after that she did really well. At first we had to take it off alot and dry her head, but once her body got use to it we could leave it on all day.

We enjoy having our own place and are happy that we are close to family. We are actually two houses from Brandon's parents. My mom has the pictures of our move so I will have to get them from her.

Brandon finished his first two masters classes and is taking the summer off. We will see what the fall brings. He got made Branch Manager and has been really busy at work. I know he will do a good job.

Taelor got her helmet off the Monday before her birthday. I can't believe that a year has gone by. It goes way to fast. She is learning to walk which is really fun. I love watching her learn new things.

Getting the Helmet

Image
She did really well. She didn't fuss at all.

Image

She didn't realy like them touching her head, but she just sat there and let the guy put it on.

Image
They let her play with the helmet before they tried to put it on her. I think it helped.

Creating the Mold for the Helmet

Taelor had to have a plaster mold made of her head so they could make her helmet. They put a thick nylon on her head to help keep the plaster out of her hair. Overall the guy said she did really well. She didn't get upset until the end. This was done the end of January.
Image
Image The lines show the center of her head. They put them on so it made it easier to see the difference in the two sides.
Image
Image The ridge on the front made it so he would be able to pull the front off after it had dried just a few minutes so they could get the rest off.
Image
Image She is still doing good here. Only one piece left to be put on.
Image She starts to get upset so we tried the pacifier.
ImageI am not happy.
Image She finally started to cry. I had Brandon hold her so I could comfort her when she was done.
Image Can you please take it off?
Image My crazy hair!!!
ImageWe are glad that we only had to do it once. I am sure she is also. It takes 2 weeks to make the helmet. I am glad that Brandon was able to be with me during this step of the process. He supports me so well. I was so nervous, but in the end Taelor did really well.

Taelor's Head

Taelor had Left Torticollis which made it so she only wanted to lay on one side of her head, which in turn caused Plagiocephaly. She always slept on the right side which made that side flat. The doctors had us prop her so she would sleep in the other side but it never lasted long. She slept how she wanted. When we moved back to St. George Taelors new doctor had us going to physical therapy to help the torticollis. Her head corrected itself to a certain point and then stopped. Here are some pictures that show how it has changed. The bottom picture was taken in October 2008 and the top one was in January 2009. With the others in order in between. We decided to put her in a helmet to correct it the rest of the way. I will post pictures of that later.

Life is busy!

Here are a few pictures of Taelor. She is getting so big. I can't believe that she is almost 7 months old. Time has gone by so fast.

We have moved due to a job transfer. We are looking for a home, but have not found one that we just have to have. I am very lucky to be able to stay home with Taelor. It is fun seeing her grow and change and learn new things.
