Overheard Thomas to Brax while they were moving some logs.
Thomas: Daddy, if it falls on your foot don’t cry!
Thomas: Mom, can I go back outside?
Kim: Bud, I don't think we're going to. It's dark now.
Thomas (looking at his feet): But, I have on my light up shoes!
Brax: Did you know we're having cupcakes for Mae's party?
Kim: Do you think you will want one?
Thomas: I would be DELIGHTED to have a cupcake!
Thomas: I didn't sleep very well last night, Mom.
Kim: Oh, why not?
Thomas: I was doing somersaults in my bed.

12 Months
Here are Mae's 12 month pictures. We of course can't believe she's one!! This year has gone way faster than Thomas's first year did!! Here are some highlights of this month.
-Still has one tooth
-Pulls out any bow that I put in her hair almost immediately!
-Either wears 18 month or 24 month clothes depending on what it is.
-Still sleeps in a sleep sack every night.
-Says: "Uh-oh!", "Whoa," "Da Da," "Bow," "Hello."
-Waves, claps and gives lots of kisses!
-Yesterday and today has taken her first (very tentative) steps!
-Takes two naps.
-Is going to eat us out of house and home! ;) Apparently she's trying to balance out Thomas.
-Thinks everything Thomas does is hilarious (unless he is hitting her or knocking her over)
-Has quite the infectious giggle!
Here are pictures of Thomas at 12 months.
Gram's Visit
My mom came in for a quick visit in the middle of last week. It was short, but lots of fun for her to be there for Mae's birthday. We also got to go to the Christmas Tree Lighting at Bridge Street Towne Center (complete with snow which Thomas loved chasing!). The only thing that would have made it better is if Brax didn't have to work and Pops could have come too!
Happy Birthday Mae!!
We celebrated with Gram on Mae's real birthday. Mae had another cupcake from her party and then got to open up her doll from us and her phone from Gram. She loved the doll and immediately started kissing it. And since she got her phone if you say "Hello Mae!" sometimes she'll put her hand up to her ear and say her own version of hello!

Playing in the Leaves
Our kids get to play in the leave a lot because we have A LOT of leaves. (Our backyard is a sea of them!) Mae got in on the action this time and had oh so much fun!
Mae's Party
Mae's birthday isn't actually until the 18th, but we celebrated yesterday and had lots of fun!
Highlights:
-We got to see lots of friends and family!!
-Mae didn't pull out her bow for about ten minutes. :)
-Mae got some girl toys to balance out the boy toys in the playroom.
-Speaking of the playroom, it worked great!
-Mae loved her first cupcake and ate the majority of it!
-Thomas had so much fun playing with friends and cousins!
-I made Mae's dress and it was the first bishop dress that I've ever made from beginning to end-including the smocking. It was hard, mainly because I hadn't ever made one before, but I did it!
(If you click on the picture it will get bigger.)

Funnies
Kim: Thomas, look. There goes Miss Linda (our neighbor).
Thomas: Where is she going?
Kim: Probably to work.
Thomas: (incredulously) Girls don't work!
*I quickly explained that lots of girls go to work, and in fact even I work. Just at home, and not somewhere else.
Kim: Thomas, come look at what we got Mae for her birthday.
Thomas: What is it?
Kim: It's a doll.
Thomas: What does it do?
Kim: Well, it's eyes open and close, but it doesn't really do anything. It's more to hold and take care of.
Thomas: Well, does it have a button to push or anything?
Kim: Thomas, what are you doing?
Thomas: I'm playing hide-and-seek with this animal. I'm hiding it and then I have to find it.
(five minutes later)
Thomas: Mom, I can't think of where to put it so I can go find it.
Kim: Why don't you put it in your booster seat?
Thomas: Mom, that wouldn't work! I could see it there!

Brent's Surprise Party
Last weekend we went to Arab for one of Brax's good friend's surprise party. It was really fun and he was really surprised!
This is Brent as he's just figuring out what's going on.
This is all the guys that have had babies.
These are all the guys together.

Blast from the Past!
We had a fun visit last week with Sarah and Kate Ross. Sarah and I grew up in Arkansas together, and now she and her husband Chris live in Connecticutt while he does his residency at Yale. Sarah was visiting some friends in Birmingham and flew in and out of Huntsville. Kate and Mae are only six days apart! We met them at the mall for some playtime, and then they came back to our house for a little while to kill time before their flight. It was fun to see the girls next to each other, also mostly impossible to get a picture!

Ole Smokey Candy Kitchen
Brax's family has been going to Gatlinburg since about the mid 60's. One huge tradition has always been to stop at the Ole Smokey Candy Kitchen and stock up. Plus, the whole family loves candy, but the Watkins men LOVE candy! These Chocolate Bears are another tradition. :)
Halloween
It was Halloween while we were in Gatlinburg, and the shops up and down the main street were basically all giving candy. It was cold and rainy, but that didn't matter (to use or any of the tons of other people that were there.) I didn't get a great picute of Thomas, but he had a great time, and Mae really had fun watching all the people too. And PaPa, MiMi, Aunt Katey, Belle and Buckley were completely troopers to go around with us in the rain!
Gatlinburg
We spent last weekend in Gatlinburg with PaPa, MiMi and Aunt Katey. It was a nice relaxing weekend. Thomas thought he was in GAME heaven with the foosball table, pool table AND air hockey table. Plus Aunt Katey there to play basically at his beck and call. :) The adults played HOURS of Phase 10 and spent lots of time in our PJ's (so not lots of pictures). The leaves were as amazing as you'd expect and we're so glad we got to go!
A Day in the Ham
A couple a weeks ago we met Sally, Carlos and Joaquin in Birmingham the day after Sally sang in a wedding. We had a wonderful breakfast with them at Cracker Barrell and then got to see a few more of our friends. Thomas had a BLAST playing with Allen and Areta's dog Auggie! And even though I stopped taking pictures after our visit with Areta, we also got to catch up with the Kings (we've asked Marly to move in with us! ;)) and see Katey's fun new house! It was a long, busy day, but worth it to see people we love!
Recent Craftiness
Thomas has been way less interested in crafts recently. I often mention them and he says, "No thanks." So here are a couple that we've done. One was tracing Thomas's body and letting him color it. The other was soaking yarn in glue to cover a bowl, and then make a shape...As you can see both were wildly successful. ;)
