Funnies-Fayetteville Version

Kim: Thomas, you'll get to spend time with Pops tonight, but tomorrow he's going to Hong Kong.
Thomas: Is he going to play Ping Pong?

Thomas: Mom, I have no idea what's gotten into my helmet, but the straps just aren't working.

Thomas: Richard?
Kim: Thomas, it's Grandpa Richard
Thomas: Why?
Kim: Because he's your Grandpa, and it's respectful to call him that.
Thomas: I think I'll just call him Richard

Thomas: Sal, if I throw you my cup will you refill it for me?

Thomas: I want to know what grown ups know.
Sally: What do you mean? What stuff?
Thomas, crying: I want to know everything grown ups know. All the things you guys talk about, I want to know about.

Gram took Thomas with her to get something done on a car title. She explained to Thomas that they were in the place where people came to get Drivers Licenses. Thomas immediately got out of his chair and acted like he was golfing with his driver.

Tom and Sue's grandparent names are Gram and Pops (if you don't know from the millions of times I've called them that on the blog). Somehow this week Mae started calling them Grammy and Popsy, which come out "Gummy" and "Potsy." PRECIOUS!

Thomas had been looking for his golf ball in the hedge in front of my parents' house for about ten minutes. Gram and Pops had both tried to help him, and it hadn't worked. I walked over to help him and he said, "Mom, here's what you need to look for. It's small and round and yellow."

Fayetteville-July 2010

Our visit to Fayetteville this time was really about quality time with family.

Lots of quality time with Aunt Sally, Uncle Carlos and Cousin Joaquin.
Image

Lots of quality time with GG Richard and LuLu. Thomas even got to spend a whole day at LuLu and GG Richard's house by himself with them!

Lots of quality time with Gram and Pops! Getting Gram Bags, going into the woods (with pajama pants on because they were the only pants I brought for Thomas!), making waffles together, and spending time just relaxing.

We drove up to Beaver Lake one day and went out on the pontoon with LuLu and GG Richard. It was very hot, although breezy on the lake. Mae and Joaquin weren't huge fans of their life jackets, but all three kids definitely enjoyed "driving" the boat! GG Richard was very patient!

One day Mom, Sally, Thomas, Mae, Joaquin and I met LuLu at the Springdale Aquatic Center. LuLu always used to take us to Oceans of Fun when we would visit her in Kansas City, so it was really fun to meet her there. We called it Oceans of Fun, Jr. There were three pools, two geared especially for kids. Thomas had the best afternoon! Joaquin loved all the fountains in the wading pool. Mae had fun too, although I will say that when we left her hair was still dry...We'll definitely go back there again!

On our very last day in Fayetteville Pops had to fly to Louisiana for some business. This client just happens to have a private plane at his disposal, and so he sent it to pick up Pops. We went out to Drake field because we thought it'd be so fun for Thomas to watch Pops take off. It was even better than we expected. Thomas got to meet the pilot and sit in the cockpit of the plane. Mae touched the propeller and both kids got to watch Pops taxi and take off, FROM THE TARMAC! Our kids are growing up in a world where you can't even walk with someone to their gate, so this was a very special treat!

We had a wonderful time in Fayettevile as always. We were so glad to be coming home to Brax, but sad to be leaving our friends and family there.

7th Annivesary Overnight

Gram stayed with the kids on Friday night so that Brax and I could go to Birmingham for an overnight. Brax suprised me Friday morning, but telling me that he had the whole day off and we could go to Birmingham as soon as we were ready! We packed as much as possible into 33 hours!

We visited Whole Foods-Brax's first time.
We visited Indie Candy in Crestline Village.
We drove through Samford.
Image

We stopped in at the Wildwood Wal-Mart and Sam's for Old Time's Sake.
We visited the Birmingham Public Library which was across the street from our hotel, The Tutwiler.
Image

We had a great dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House and visited Vulcan where we had great views of the city!
Image
We even saw Areta and Allen who were parked right by our hotel for Art on the Rocks. (Areta took this picture of us with her camera)
Image

We walked through the whole Wedgewood Collection at the Birmingham Museum of Art .
We finished off the trip with The Red Mountain Theatre Company's production of The Sound of Music at The Virginia Samford Theatre.

Told you we packed it in.

Gram's Visit

Gram came on Wednesday and stayed with us a few days before driving with us to Arkansas. Mae had fun with her too, but I didn't get any pictures.

Snuggling

We've been reading through The Jesus Storybook Bible with Thomas every night before bed. It doesn't work every night, but sometimes Mae reads with us.

Have I mentioned that Mae adores Thomas?

Cow Appreciation Day

Image
Friday was Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-A. Basically, dress up like a cow, get free food. Thomas had a cow costume left over from Halloween, so that was perfect for him. I had great plans of getting outfits together for all of us, so we were all equally cowish, but 5:45 on Friday night found us cutting out the Chick-Fil-A starter kit! :) That's what Brax and I used. Mae refused to have anything to do with being a cow!

*Please note Brax's umbrella. It was raining cats and dogs for the 2nd afternoon in a row. We were dedicated free food getters!!

Blueberries for Us!

Image

This morning we went and picked blueberries at a farm about 15 minutes south of our house. I've been wanting to go for several years, since we pass the sign every time we go to and from Brax's parents house. Also, Mae loves blueberries and Thomas loves the book Blueberries for Sal! It was actually REALLY fun! (Sometimes family outings with toddlers sound fun, but don't turn out quite as fun as they sounded.) Thomas did a great job helping and Mae picked lots of blueberries (as well as many pink and green ones). We were the only people there, and it felt so privite and secluded. We'll definitely go back there!!

4th of July Weekend

We spent most of the weekend with MiMi, PaPa, and Aunt Katey. We swam, painted PaPa's office, read books, played LOTS of cards, ate anniversary bars (an Addington family 4th of July tradition), and did a few fireworks. Mae even did a sparkler for the first time. Yea for Independence!

One Fish...Two Fish...

We've had a lot of fun at the pool so far this summer, and last Friday we had a marker day. Thomas started jumping in so that his head was going under-and Mae started swimming by herself (with floaties of course!). He only wants to be in the deep end and she no longer wants to be touched in the pool! MiMi, PaPa and Aunt Katey came to watch the goings on!
