Fayetteville

As always the kids and I had a great time in Fayetteville. This trip started a little early because Gram flew here so she could see Brax and make the drive with us. Her flights got ALL MESSED UP, and she got here 24 hours later than planned. But, it was still wonderful.

We got to spend lots of time with Gram and Pops. Pops was there for most of the time, and that was a special treat.

We had lots of cousin time. Thomas and Mae are both very interested in Baby Mateo, and the three older kids meshed really well. Hopefully as they get older and older it will just get better and better!!

Got to spend some quality time at The Cottage. Thomas and Mae got to explore in the woods with Pops. I got to sit out on the deck lots!

We got to go to the Buffalo River, twice!! First with Gram, Pops, Uncle Carlos, Aunt Sally, Joaquin, Mateo, GG Richard and LuLu. Thomas probably threw 150,000,000 rocks and the kids had so much fun splashing around.

In addition, Thomas got to go to Summerfest at Gram and Pops's church Monday-Thursday and had a great time!! We loved being there, but were SO glad to get home to Brax. We missed him so much, and hated being away from him.

Funnies

Thomas: How do they know who to bring which food to in the drive-thru?
Kim: I don't know. (It IS confusing at Sonic! Sometimes they serve you out of order!)
Thomas: I know who will know. Mr. Bubba!

Gram: I love you so much I could scream!
Thomas: The other day Mom said I wasn't helping her get ready to go to the pool and she felt like screaming too.

Thomas: Gram, did you know I have eternal life?
Gram: Yes
Thomas: Does everyone have eternal life?
Gram: Yes, but you will have eternal life with Jesus.
Thomas: Do you think someone will have to kill me?
(TRY to answer that question with a straight face at the end of an 11.5 hour drive.)

Brax: What's my name?
Mae: Brax
Brax: What's my other name?
Mae: Babe

On Monday morning we went to the pool. It.Was.Hot. But, a lot of our friends were there, so we had a good morning. And really, when it's hot where would you rather be?

After naps/quiet time we went over to our friends' the Harrisons house and had a bar-b-que! Also, really fun! It looked like it was going to rain, but never did. The great thing that happened is that it completely cooled everything off!
Image

And, mercifully the rain held off and we got to see some fireworks. They were great!!! I love fireworks!! The traffic getting home was awful, and we didn't get home till 10:30, but it was worth it! Only once a year!

4th of July Weekend

We had a busy, busy holiday weekend!

Brax and I started off by hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner called Last Train from Paris, set in the 30's. Brax was a ganster and I was a "mannish" journalist. We got to use our china and have a nice dinner. Plus we laughed. A. LOT. We had a blast and hope to do it again sometime!
Image

Then we spent Saturday and Sunday with Brax's family. We love relaxing with them! We ate lots, played cards and Sequence, and worked on getting the basement cleaned out.
Image

One of the things we found in the basement was an old doll crib of Katey's. Mae was thrilled to have it for her babies! She played quietly and at one point we found this. That's the crib with Mae's babies in it, and her noise-maker that she sleeps with it. She had put it next to the babies in the living room. Hilarious!
