Written on my Facebook wall: Walker just asked for Lego spiderman for Christmas. I told him I don't know if there is such a thing. He responded, "Santa is magical. He even made a trampoline for my friend Thomas at church.". :)
Kim: What color did you talk about today at school?
Mae: We talked about the letter "A!"
Kim: Oh really?
Mae: Yeah. I didn't put my finger in my nose.
Overheard at soccer practice.
Coach Josh: Here are some vests to put on so we know which team you're on. They're kinda big.
Noah: Whoa! Those are so big, God could wear them.

Soccer
Thomas started soccer last week. He's been so excited to play. Last week he had a hard time at practice because he felt like he knew more than everyone, including the coach. However, this week he was a much better listener and did a great job! Here are some pictures. That's his friend, Lake with him.
Gymnastics or "Anastics"
Today Mae started gymnastics. I looked into ballet for her, but since she's not three yet the places weren't really that interested in her starting. So, I decided I would put her in gymnasics, which I actually think she'll like more anyway. She LOVED it! She went right in (the parents stayed out behind some glass, so we could watch) and followed directions really well. It was of course, adorable to watch little 2-3 year old girls do all the bouncing and swinging and balance beam. Mae's really excited to go back next week...and start training for the olympics. 2020 probably.
Crafting
Since Mae is in school two days a week and Thomas is in everyday I've had a little bit of time to work on pillows for our couches. The ones that came with our couch were just a little too formal for us. I wanted something kinda fun. And I have this weird thing about stuff meaning something. I struggle putting anything on the wall that doesn't mean something to us. I've never bought a couch before, but apparently I feel that way about pillows too. Who knew...
I found this sign (and the inspiration for my pillows) on Pinterest. Addictive. The sign was printed from a blog called cookingwiths.blogspot.com.
The pillow with the turquiose is made out of pillowcase that Brax's grandmother crocheted the edge. The red and white pillow is made from a shirt that was Brax's great grandmother's. It even has pockets. Adorable.
Obviously the Union Flag is because we (and by we, I mean I) have an unhealthy obsession with all things British. The other one has all our birthdays and our anniversary on it. Both of these pillows are made with leftover feedsacks from when I covered the chair in a feedsack.

Funnies and A Sweetie
Thomas and Mae are SO glad to see each other at the end of the day. Till one makes the other cry.
Kim: We're meeting Mrs. Tyanna and one of her friends at Chick-Fil-A
Thomas: Who's Mrs. Tyanna? (He is HORRIBLE with names)
Kim: You know who she is. Luke and Layne's mom?!
Arriving at CFA and standing WITH Mrs. Tyanna.
Kim: Thomas here's Mrs. Tyanna.
Thomas: OH! I thought Mrs. Tyanna was scary!
I was having a serious converstaion with Thomas (AKA he was in trouble) and he kept opening and closing his mouth like a fish.
Kim: Thomas, please stop!
Thomas: Ok.
Then, Brax was reinforcing what I said and Thomas was doing the same thing.
Brax: Thomas, STOP!
Thomas, bursting into SOBS: But Daddy! I really want to yawn and I can't remember how!!!
Kim: One of the things you need to be doing at school is showing Jesus' love by your actions.
Thomas: Mom! I don't even know what action means.
Kim: It means the things we do.
Thomas: Like if someone didn't have a lunch I could give them mine?
Kim: Yes!
On the second day of school I picked Thomas up and he said: Mom! I helped someone! She couldn't find her bag and I found it for her!!
*I didn't feel like crying when I took him to school, but I was so proud that he was watching for people to help that I almost burst into tears right there!

Mae's 1st Day of Preschool
On Wednesday Mae started preschool where Thomas went last year. She's in the 2's class because she has a November birthday and will be going two days a week. I was a little nervous that she would FREAK out when they got her out of the car, but she was so excited about her new backpack and lunchbox that she did great. Next week may be rougher, but I was so proud of my big girl. I was even able to get a picture of her in her class when I picked her up before she noticed that I was there.
I had a WONDERFUL morning literally wandering through stores. This is the first time since Mae was born that I'll have regular alone time and I'm really looking forward to it. Of course I'm not going to spend all my time wandering. I've got LOTS to do, but it was really nice to have a morning of freedom!

1st Day of Kindergarten
Thomas did great this morning! There were no tears (on his part, or mine) and he was so excited to start school. He walked right in and sat down in his seat! Can't believe he's in REAL school!
Looking Back
Some of you may not know that Brax and I spent fall semester 2002 in London. Samford has a great study abroad progam. We loved pretty much every minute of it, and we got engaged while we were there.
We had an amazing group with us, but there were two people that we hung out with more than anyone else. Jennifer and Amy. We went lots of places together and had a WONDERFUL time! I thought since I'd never done it I'd include a collage of a few of our favorite London shots with them.
They're great friends still. Amy is from my hometown, so we run into each other's families on occasion and keep in touch through mainly Twitter. Jennifer was a bridesmaid in our wedding and we talk regularly on Twitter, Facebook, email. (She's the kind of friend who sends sweet notes and presents for our kids!)
One of the amazing experiences we had in London was to be there for the premier of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. By this time Harry Potter was already huge. We were in Leicester Sqaure for the actual celebrity premier of the movie and then a week later saw it ourselves. At midnight. In London. Before the rest of the world.
We all love Harry, and haven't seen each other in awhile, so about a year ago Jennifer suggested we all get together for the finale. Sadly, Amy was at camp and couldn't join us, but Jennifer drove down and met us. We didn't go at midnight, and we didn't even go when it first came out because I was out of town, but we did go. And it was wonderful to catch up!
