Hurry Up and Wait-San Diego Comic Con
This is gonna be LONG. Get yourself a drink and some snacks cause here we go.
*Disclaimer* This is NOT a Adventures of Pocket Ninja and Edward post like I originally planned. So much happened, that I forgot to get good Ninja and Edward pics, so you are stuck with my adventure :)
I figure the best way to do this is day by day right…
Tues – Get up fly to SD…(nothing interesting happened on the flight)
I land about noonish and I get picked up by some of the Team Jack girls (hadn’t met any of them prior to this trip) and we head to LA.
We stopped at Grauman's Chinese Theatre to see some famous hand and footprints.
Then we headed to a party in the Hollywood Hills. Those roads are crazy small and there is NO way I could drive up there. It was a very casual party, but there were some cool people there AND I got to hold a REAL, LIVE OSCAR! Yes, they are heavier then you would think.
So then we drove back SD that night to sleep in line for the Breaking Dawn Part 2 panel that was showing on Thurs. afternoon. We rolled up about 2:30 AM. This is pretty much were we lived for a couple days (we had a hotel rooms across the street, but what’s the fun in sleeping there…and for the record I’m not in any of these pics).
On a side note we ran into a REALLY nice guy/kid name Aaron. He was dressed as a Viking. So here’s the story some of our girls got there a day early. There weren’t many people in line but this Viking was one of them. He joined our little Team Jack group in line cause he had nowhere else to go. He held our place in line when our group went to the party in LA and kept away the creepy people. He was very cool. So I met him the morning after the party and thanked him for holding our spot. I asked him what he was dressed up for (lots of costumes at SDCC). He said he wasn’t dressed up for anything, these were his everyday clothes. He lives in a tree and only has a cell phone cause his mom pays for it so she doesn’t have to worry about him!! He rode 54 hours by bus from Kansas to get to SDCC and was waiting for his friend to arrive; the friend had the hotel room. He said the first night he slept by himself down on the harbor. He was happy when the Twilight people started to show up cause it gave him a place to hang out. Our group fed him, which he was very grateful for because he only brought food he had to cook. He thought he would be able to start a fire and stuff. Like I said he was VERY nice and he said, in true Viking fashion, we are friends for life because we fed him. The BEST part is he did have a costume for Comic Con…it was Dragon Ball Z!!!!!!
Wed was kinda slow during the day. I was able to check into my hotel and take a shower then back to the line I went. We got our SDCC badges that day. I was lucky enough to get a Supernatural bag!!!!
After getting our badges and swag bags, back to the line we went. (Lots and LOTS of waiting in line folks…wait in line for panels, bags, shirts, to cross the street…lines, lines, lines. The moto of the week was hurry up and wait).
A lot of news crews for all sorts of channels and blogs would come back to get interviews. I stayed away from the interviews. I did see myself for a half of sec in the background of one report. I also think we will be on the DVD extras for Breaking Dawn Part 2; Summit was there recording stuff.
Preview night was Wed and it was NUTS. The exhibition floor was insane. SO many people all crowded together. It was like this EVERYDAY. The convention center is 1 million square feet, over 100,000 tickets were sold and every inch looked like this.
OK, here’s some of the good stuff….So Wed night we knew something was happening and it did. The WHOLE vamp crew from BD2 showed up to greet the fans (EVERYONE except the Twifecta…Rob, Kristen and Taylor. They could not have done such an event. It would have been INSANE if they had.) Stephenie Meyer even came down!
I got EVERYONE’s autograph expect PFach. He didn’t make it down to us for some reason. Almost EVERYONE is smaller than they look at TV. Ashley Green and Nikki Reed are TINY! Stephenie Meyer looked beautiful. There was a presence about her and she looked lovely. She signed and took a pic with EVERY SINGLE PERSON who wanted one. She did not have to do that. The others didn’t, they had other things to do (like the Summit BD2 party).
Me and Stephenie.
Thurs was panel day. At this point I think I’ve slept like 5 hours in 2 days. EXHAUSTED and running on adrenaline. We FINALLY got in the hall after more waiting.
We got to watch the first 7 mins of the movie and a 2nd clip that was about a min long. The movie looks GOOD, but we have to wait until Nov now.
Right after the panel, we did a Team Jack podcast about our reaction to the clip. I didn’t talk much, just like the on camera interviews, not really my thing. This is the recording of the podcast, at the Hard Rock Hotel.
After the podcast and lunch, I headed back the exhibit hall floor to see what free swag I could get. Booths gave away TONS of stuff but the floor was a nightmare. There were times when I had to leave, couldn’t deal with it. Can you see me…CRAZINESS.
I woke up EARLY Fri AM. To get in line for The Walking Dead and Game of Throne panels. Big Bang Theory was first. I’ve never watched it but they were funny. They also gave away a trip to space to one of the audience members…NOT KIDDING.
The Walking Dead panel was good. I’m WAY excited for the upcoming season. The Game of Thrones panel was BORING. Boring enough that we left afterward rather than stay the rest of the day, which was my original plan.
That night we got dressed up and went to the Dark Knight Rises party. You could see where the Red Carpet was and where the VIP section of the party was being held, but we didn’t get to mingle and I didn’t see anyone cool.
I didn’t go to The Hobbit panel as planned because I just couldn’t fathom being in Hall H again all day especially since I knew I would be there again on Sun. So Sat slept in a little bit. Most of Sat was spent walking around the floor. My feet hurt SO bad. SO, so much walking.
Woke up WAY early for Sun line up. That line was LONG. More than a mile long. Lots of waiting and waiting in line. Sun was Fringe, Supernatural and Dr. Who. Which was why the line was SOOOOO long. Very popular shows. There were LOTS and LOTS of people dressed up as Cas running around BTW.
The Fringe panel was REALLY good. Funny and touching. They did a good job and I got to see Pacey!
Ok Supernatural. HILARIOUS!! Jensen and Jared are way too funny and play off each other well. This is my FAVORITE TV show ever so WAY excited to see this.
Then after the panel more walking the hall to try and get more swag. And that pretty much sums it up. I think I got about 16 hours of sleep in five days, but it was worth it. I had a blast and learned I am a SUPER GEEK! Not sure that I would go again, but maybe :)
Here are random BUNCH of random pics:
