The third painterOver the years the so-called “ inner model” of the modern artists, the absolutely personal with which he seems to be totally involved, has become an attitude quite simply expected of him. One should come to the conclusion that something so obvious and commonplace is already part of everyday reality and is thus of no interest to the surrealist artist, especially to an artist working with automatic techniques. Working currently with different techniques in one single work, as if he possesses two or more identities ( a poet would speak of heteronyms ), a superimposition of many worlds will be archived and this seems to be a viable solution for the continuation of our investigations. A COLLECTIVE , automatic work is of a different nature. A collective, automatic painting is only interesting when executed spontaneously without taking aesthetic questions, of whatever sort, into consideration.New ground will be covered when during a totally automatic, spontaneous and unselfish co-operation between two – or more- painters it will be as if a “ third painter “ takes part in the game. A work will result which – although it relates to the personal work of both – exposes a “ third “ world of ideas. |
