Snow, Snow. Snow, Snow!!!!!!

Our quick trip to Utah was bitter sweet. We were sad to have to say good-bye to Grandpa Lee, but we couldn't have been happier to see and experience snow again. My boys were in heaven. It literally took everything I could do to get them in from outside. It was COLD, but we didn't care. We stayed above the yucky inversion in Utah and had a BLAST!

My sister took us over to her family ranch one day for sledding. We used the 4-wheeler to pull us up the road and then rode the sleds down. We really got going fast. Joshua had a lot of crashes, but we had a great time! Isn't my Medusa hat stylish?

My Sister Jessica and her husband Cory took the boys to Utah Lake to see the ice. They had a great time walking out on it and checking out all the holes left by fisherman.

Image Nathan got quality time with Uncle Eric. He coached him in shooting the rifle and pistol. Katie even took a turn. Nathan decided he was thirsty and tried to get a drink from the spring...not such a good idea, he ended up getting wet and this ended his shooting adventure.

Image We spent an afternoon at my sister Jessica's house. We went snow mobiling, did some more sledding, and built snow forts.

Thanks to my family for making our yearly "snow" vacation wonderful...and now we are back in Louisiana were it was 70 today!

Grandpa Lee

Grandpa and Grandma Lee with Nate and Joshua in 2006

Grandpa Lee passed away last week. It was a bitter sweet thing for our family. We are so glad he is with Grandma and can just imagine how happy they are, but we are sad that he is gone. Grandpa lived a great life. I have so many great memories of him and these I will cherish. I was able to talk with him on the phone the day he passed, and I will also cherish this. The boys and I were able to make a quick trip to Utah to be there for the funeral. We love you and will miss you Grandpa!

Grandpa had many talents, woodworking and painting were two of them. Some of his work was displayed at his funeral.

Science Project IS DONE!

Image
Nathan chose to do his science project on "The effect of cola on our teeth." We thought this would be pretty easy, Dad could easily get the teeth for the experiment, and it would be down hill from there. Whatever! Aside from the procrastination, having to start the whole experiment over again, and lots of time on the computer, it was a success. This has been a thorn in our side for the past few weeks, but we are happy to say that it was worth all the sweat and tears. He presented it in front of his class today and he did great! We did learn a lot doing this, including how to fight, yell and scream and bring contention into the home, and maybe a little bit about the effect that Cola drinks have on our teeth.

Happy Birthday Jared!

Image
Jared turned 36 this year. We had a great day. My mom and dad were in town, so we went to Vicksburg, Mississippi to see the battle grounds (my dad is a big history lover). We came home later that night and had chili and corn bread. I made Jared his favorite cake, German Chocolate. Earlier in the week I had taken Joshua shopping with me to buy Jared's presents. He promised he wouldn't tell. Well before the day was over Nathan knew and Joshua was giving Jared hints. "It is so small it fits into mom's purse." "You can use it at work." This went on all week. So I think Jared wasn't too surprised when he opened his gifts up. Needless to say I will be doing birthday shopping by myself from now on. We celebrated that night by watching the Utah/Alabama game. Now let me preface this by saying we are 100% BYU fans, and would almost never cheer for Utah, but they were playing in Louisiana, and they were representing the Mountain West, and it was an awesome game, so we decided it was okay to watch and secretly cheer for Utah one time!
